My wife and I were looking to purchase a beach house and used the services of a local Realtor, one day I received a phone call and the lady Realtor started explaining about this island, that requires a ferry-boat service to get there, at first, it reminded me of a 'Gilligan's Island' type, not what we were looking for, but the explanations I was given caught my imagination and we agreed to visit, upon arriving on the ferry-boat, we both fell in love and purchased one unit, year and half later we purchased a second unit and we have been in love ever since with our little paradise getaway.
The Owner purchased this townhome in 1999
Ocean access and short distances of walking. A getaway location your own gated community, the surrounding gate is the ocean waters, no traffic, tranquility, a true paradise!
Serenity and peaceful environment of this getaway is one of a kind. The beaches are second to none and the unit spacing is enough to make it a pleasant stay, no matter how long you plan to stay.
We just arrived home from our first but not last trip to LGI. Hideaway Bay is a great location on the island. It is right in the middle of the gulf and bay. Orlando made everything so easy. He even happen to be at the house working when the first part of my family arrived and was nice enough to explain the water heater he just worked on. Then he called a few times after to make sure we were ok. I was very impressed with the amount of bath towels provided. But would suggest to get some new sheets for the queen bed upstairs. The set that was on them were a bit itchy so we changed them. But noticed the 2nd set had some holes in them. My parents slept in the King bed downstairs and loved the mattress so much that they took pictures of the tag to find one to buy at home. The queen bed upstairs was not as comfy but I can understand it would be hard to get a new mattress upstairs because of the spiral staircase. My aunt slept on the couch and she said she was very comfortable.
We loved the lanai and the deck below the house. The place is so close to the beach even though it doesn't look like it in pictures.
I was concerned about the ferry service but it turned out to be a very fun part of our vacation. We went across to mainland 3 out of the 6 days.
We cooked in the kitchen each night and found it to be easy to use. I would suggest to sharpen the knives because they are rather dull and do not cut very well.
This property is a great place to stay and Orlando is a very wonderful person to rent from. He is honest and trusting. We hope to return next year.
Property was well cared for and well stocked. Orlando provided all the paperwork we needed prior to leaving home and called us a couple times during our vacation, just to be sure all was well. Very quiet, safe, welcoming place to visit. Felt very comfortable letting the kids explore on their own. The ferry is a fun place to meet and visit with others on the island. Beautiful views of the sunset, right from the lanai. Great shelling, great fishing. No problems whatsoever. Will go back for sure!!!
The unit is in a perfect location in the complex. The owner does a wonderful job of making sure you have all the information you need to enjoy your stay on the island. Great beach, shell collection the best ever, and the people are very friendly.
We had a wonderful time in this unit. It was well stocked with everything we needed and all items were of a nice quality such as soft fluffy towels, nice beds and pillows. It was very clean and well kept. The few from the lanai is beautiful. The owner has all the beach items you would ever need. We enjoyed the beach chairs and the umbrella on the beautiful beach. We enjoyed shelling and brought back some beautiful shells. We rented the golf cart but found the unit was so close to the beach we usually just walked. The island is beautiful and the people we met were very nice and friendly. Orlando the owner was great to communicate with and was very attentive. We would definitely rent from him again. We had a very relaxing vacation and hope to return again soon.
This was our 5th visit to this property on Little Gasparilla Island. It can only be described as paradise. The accommodations are clean and spotless and nicely decorated. The property is within walking distance from the beach. The experience of the walk-on ferry is part of the charm of this vacation with only golf carts allowed on the island. The sunsets are simply breathtaking. It is a great vacation spot for seniors, near retirees and families with young children and teens. Life slows down while on the Island and still only a 7 minute ferry ride from shopping, great restaurants as well as great Golf Courses. I would highly recommend this property for anyone who wants to get away from it all and enjoy a great vacation. The owners are very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with.
You can see ocean from the upstairs bedroom, walking distance to beach (around a small pond and across a walking bridge). The space is clean and nice. Once you are on the island, you are truly away from it all. No need to bring your wallet as there is nothing for sale. Wireless phone connectivity on Sprint and AT&T is thin, but that is a good thing as it encouraged me to put work aside. There is WIFI, but also a bit slow -- again, probably a good thing. The beach is excellent. Lots of shelling. Lots of wildlife. Saw many dolphins and rays. Fun taking the ferry back and forth. The unit has lots of great beach extras (like chairs and sandcastle implements) available as well. Owner (Orlando) was very helpful, was on property the day we arrived to check on things, called the day before we left, and answered all of our questions before and during our stay. The other residents and staff were super nice and helpful.
Boca Grande Pass is world famous for Tarpon Fishing and we have free boat slips on a first come, first served basis. Restricted to boats maximum size 21 feet long.
