Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10-14)

This spacious three bedroom real Log Cabin sits on a wooded private lake-front lot on the beautiful Spider Lake Chain in northwest Wisconsin. Enjoy complete privacy at all views! Listen to the loons; watch the eagles soar and get a close-up glimpse of deer. Catch walleye, bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern from the dock or from a boat. Enjoy the variety of vegetation, giant trillium, lush ferns, birch trees and majestic pines. See bear and other wildlife as our property butts up to the Washburn County Forest offering privacy all around.

The best part about our cabin is the lake. Spider Lake is a chain of 5 lakes, totaling roughly 300 acres. The irregular shoreline and many islands, bays and coves make every outing on Spider a wonderful discovery experience… rent our pontoon and kayaks and use our canoe. Swim out to the swim raft in our private cove the pristine waters are heaven!

The main level features a newly updated fully-equipped kitchen. Living room with lake views, 2 bedrooms and full bath Walk out onto the upper deck overlooking the lake where there's a new gas grill, plenty of furniture to relax on and to enjoy outside meals.

The lower level features a Great Room with windows affording a beautiful view of the lake. Two sets of bunk beds, a futon, daybed, and a newly-updated game room with Foosball and another TV. Perfect to stay up late watching scary movies! A full bath and utility room with washer and dryer are here also.

Walk-out to another deck for an afternoon siesta or star gazing.

Bask in the warmth of a nighttime fire huddled together cooking s'mores and watching the sunset. A perfect spot to make some family memories!

About The Owner

This is our family cabin. We've had many great times up here but with our busy schedules we're renting it a few weeks a month.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2000

Why The Owner chose Birchwood

We fell in love with Spider Lake and waited patiently for a place to come up for sale. With the clean pristine waters, quiet peacefulness, singing loons, eagles and all around beauty, we love it!

What makes this cabin unique

We love the fact that the logs that make this cabin came from the property it sits on. Clean swimming and wildlife abound. ATV trails in the summer and snowmobile trails in the winter. Shopping and dining are only a five minute drive. It's private, quiet and peaceful or plenty of room to be loud and have some fun without bothering anyone!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were pleased to find that the cabin was roomy and had everything needed for a two week vacation. It was s0 relaxing! We enjoyed using the paddle boat and canoe. It was a great vacation spot and we were thankful to find a lake home accommodating two families with dogs.

Perfect for Us.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin last July and found it perfectly private and pet friendly. The pictures do tell the true story and there is clear water and great swimming. We did not rent the pontoon boat, but was perfect for sitting on and playing cards and a safe place to corral a small child who might walk off the dock. Our dog spent hours swimming and fishing near the shore. She also loved riding with me on the paddle boat. Very Pet friendly and the owners even have a stack of Dog towels for drying before entering the cabin. This cabin and lake were perfect for us, 4 adults and one little one, and the dog.

Perfect Summer Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The week at Spider Lake was something that our family will always treasure. The cabin was a perfect location for our family of kids under 5 and kids over 40! We rented the pontoon for the week and that could not have been better. We spent most of the time out on the lake jumping off the pontoon and enjoying the privacy. If we weren't on the boat we were relaxing on the floating dock and taking out the paddle boat. The water was perfect for swimming. Even though there was not a sandy shore to enter the lake, the kids did just fine jumping off the dock.

The cabin provided ample space for relaxing when we had pouring rain for a few hours. All of the areas of the cabin were clean, well tended too, and thoughtfully put together to make this a perfect up north retreat. Our family that came with us is from Washinton D.C. and this was their first time "Up North". We couldn't have picked a better spot to show them the beauty. And many thanks to the owners who were delightful adn eay to work with. We hope to be back!!

Private, quiet, wooded, on a lake log cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our vacation here as dogs were allowed. We all had fun boating. It was too cool for swimming but there is a nice beach. The descriptions and the photos in the listing are accurate. The property was clean, and the owners easy to contact. We did find the slope of the hill going to the lake somewhat difficult if you have any problems walking. We would definitely recommend it as long as you can be without television! We love nature and being outside but did miss having television for news and sports at night.

Spider Lake Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Really nice location! Beautiful tree lined county road and driveway back to cabin. Property is surrounded by dense forestation. Gorgeous golden birch and ash in fall. We were lucky enough to catch peak color and sunny 73 degree days our week here. The fire pit area is great, and two decks to relax on..huge decks! The paddleboat provided with cabin and the canoe, were fun for navigating the small lake. Bring your kayaks! The only disappointment for me was the inability to navigate between the chain of lakes. Great walleye fishing on Long Lake only minutes away. You'll catch small northern, bass and crappie on this part of Spider, not great fishing, but not terrible, either. Cabin inside is VERY homey and comfortable...lots of fun little decorating touches inside. Well stocked kitchen! Overall, the cabin nicer than the pictures. We REALLY did not want to leave, and our stay here has us seriously considering a move to these parts in our retirement.

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four, two adults and two teenagers, had a relaxing week together prior to sending our oldest off to college. In the beautiful county forest, their Wi-Fi connection was spotty so we got them to unplug and really spend some quality time together. It was so fun to see them swimming and playing games just like when they were younger. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed kayaking and canoeing all week on the clear, quiet lake. Several times we paddled along within 20 feet of loons on the water and deer on the shoreline. Pure bliss! We all did some swimming in the surprisingly deep and clear water. The swim raft got a lot of use! In the evenings we enjoyed the campfire, playing board games, and watching movies together. We cooked almost all our meals at the cabin and found the kitchen to be stocked with all the essentials. We found grill tools, campfire spears for s'mores, pizza pans, and all the utensils, and dishes we needed. The large, new gas grill was a real treat and made outdoor cooking a breeze. We were thrilled with the cleanliness of the cabin and the abundant fresh, fluffy towels in the bathrooms. We drove to Hayward one day to play mini-golf, get ice cream, window shop, and pick up a few groceries and found it to be a reasonable drive. But we were anxious to get back to "our" peaceful cabin retreat. It is really a special place.

family getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 6 adults and 3 children (18 months, 2 yrs and 4 yrs) stayed here the week of August 4th. It is a beautiful piece of property with lots of trees, privacy, quiet and a pretty view of the lake. We found the cabin to fit our family very well with good sleeping areas to spread out in and comfy beds and linens. The kitchen and living room area is small but adequate and well stocked with everything we needed. We were all very comfortable staying here for the week. We loved the large deck areas for afternoon cocktail hours and grilling. Yard was great with gradual decline to the lake. Enjoyed campfires nightly and bean bag toss (we brought) during the day. Our young grandchildren were able to play with their buckets and shovels on the sandy beach area. Nice swimming area with no weeds. We enjoyed the use of the paddleboat and had our own kayaks.

We loved the nearby Spider Lake restaurant / saloon and enjoyed the Friday night fish fry. Also golfed at the nearby Tagalong golf course. All in all a very nice place for a large family to get together. Fishing wasn't so great the week we were there but then again we didn't fish much.

My only suggestion for the owners would be to put a couple of stairs in going down to the lake instead of that piece of plywood which is a little bit risky / slippery with young children and for our 7 month pregnant daughter in law or anyone who is a little unsteady on their feet. A minor thing though and just need to be careful but 2 or 3 stairs would improve safety there. We would definitely consider the option of staying here again if in the area. Clean, quiet, private, woodsy and plenty of space and also seemed to be reasonably priced. Owners were easy to deal with and responded to questions etc quickly. We enjoyed our week at Spider Lake very much and an excellent place for a family or group of friends to get together in a totally private setting.
