Spicewood Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description
4 BD/3.5 Bath (sleeps 14 max), Garage Apt (sleeps 4)
Stone Home Ranch, 37 acres, sits on the craggy cliffs of the Pedernales River, with breathtaking views of the canyons and Texas Hill Country. Travis County Reimers Ranch Park & Wildlife Preserve are across the river. You can swim, lay in the hammock, kayak, fish, hike or just relax. Down by the river there is a small patio, swing, chairs and a fire pit to enjoy warmth on a cool evening while stargazing. This is a very tranquil secluded Slice of Heaven !
Close by are 4 wineries, Briarcliff Marina on Lake Travis where you could rent a boat, Cypress Valley Canopy Tours to zipline, Krause Springs or Hamilton Pool for a cold water dip, golf courses, local music and dancing, great restaurants, rock climbing, biking trails, and hunting all within reach!
*** Please read rates on additional charge for the garage apartment.
Animals on the Property:
Tons of wildlife, birds, wild turkeys, fox, coyotes, porcupine, skunk (phew), bats, and yes sometimes ... snakes. We also have a few OUTDOOR pets, a dog, 2 cats and 1 horse , Pepe, 2 miniature donkeys that reside at Stone Home. All are pets and very friendly. There is a horse barn and a new tank (pond) that I will eventually stock with fish. Feeding the horse and donkeys can be fun but not necessary.
I also have a ranch hand living in on the upper part of the property, you may see him caring for the property at times, there to help where needed, his name is Willy, he will give you his number upon request.
This house is on a cliff with 130 ft stair climb to go to the river and back up ! Worth the effort.

Guestbook comments from the owner
wendy, i am so glad we found you and your beautiful house. the sisters started talking about santa fe next year, but then all agreed that we might want to come back to Stone Home Ranch (hopefully the thread all over the dining room rug will not hurt our chances).
We loved the space, the river the kayaks, and the chance to just be sisters. we came from three locations, california, wisconsin and florida. the girls trip is our week to just be sisters and bond with no family around. (we did have a whopper of a fight one
day and it was wonderful) we barely left the house as im sure willy must have told you.
then there were brewster and the kittys. we loved having animals around. we all miss our own pets when we travel, so having the resident furry friends was a huge plus.
here is what we made. 4 quilt tops, 1 tree skirt, one computer bag, one window seat bench cover, 90 snappy-ass bags, 17 aprons, 1 reel bag, 22 luggage tags, 5 headbands, 3 double clutches for sunglasses and reading glasses, 8 cloth shopping bags, a bathrobe, and that might
be it. it was a total sweatshop, and a good percentage of what we made goes to charities. aint that special. little do some of them know that we took regular gin and tonic breaks. love the porch, and the horses too.
willy put roses on our dashboard, so when we finally loaded and pulled out at 5 am this morning, we all had a wonderful goodbye rose to enjoy.
what a great week, thanks so much peeker
I am the single mother of 6 amazing adult children, a daughter, 2 sets of identical twin sons, and single son. I also have been blessed with 2 grandbabies over the past year and a half. Pets are a big part of my life and my childrens.
Stone Home Ranch was our primary home for over 5 , years then again 2012/13.
My youngest son was accepted in a local boarding school leaving me an empty nest, I have decided to share our with guest on a part time basis and move into downtown Austin !
I enjoy the tranquility, the wildlife, the views are breathtaking, home is very comfortable, hiking or taking walks, kayaking at the river.
My slice of heaven that I want to share with guest who enjoy a true get away.
