This is an 80 square meters family apartment on rue Linné near the metro JUSSIEU. It's on the 5th floor of a lime stone early 20th century building. There is an elevator and a beautiful wooden staircase.
The living room is large and full of Balinese and Laotian style furniture and cushions. This is where we relax or gather with friends for a chat and a drink. The dinner area fits 8 people comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped and has lots of crockery as we often invite friends over. The main bedroom has a bed for 2 persons, a large wardrobe and a working desk. If needed, it can also accept an additional comfortable single bed. The second bedroom overlooks the back courtyard and is very calm. It has a double bed which we store at the ceiling when not in use. With a counter weight system, it is easy to pull up and down.
If needed a comfortable sofa bed for 2 people, 2 sofa beds for one person are available and can be easily installed in the living room. The bathroom has a bath tub and a shower. The WC is separated.
The apartment has a very central location and has a very good transport connection : 100 meters to metro lines 7 and 10, 30 meters to buses 67 (direct bus to Montmartre) and 89 (direct bus to Montparnasse railway station)
- 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame, Ile Saint Louis, Jardin du Luxembourg, Mouffetard, Marais, Bastille etc.
- 12 minutes away by metro from Le Louvre, Palais Royal, Opera, Marais, Bastille.
3 open air food markets, bakeries, pastries shops, several supermarkets, biological shops, pharmacies are near by. We also have lots of restaurants for all budgets.

My name is Vilay. I love Paris especially the Latin Quarter. I live here since 1981 but I used to be a traveler once ! I will be glad to great you and give you useful tips to make your stay as nice as possible depending on your interests ! My 2 boys, Aloun 27 a professional dancer, Nayan 17 at his last high school year, grew up in this nice and safe neighbourhood.
Vilay Marchal purchased this apartment in 1981
We are located in the center of the ancient and most beautiful part of Paris, The Latin District. It has a beautiful and green environment with 3 main gardens : Jardin des Plantes at 50 meters, les Arênes de Lutèce the roman arenas at 50 metres, Jardin du Luxembourg at 10 minutes walk, Notre Dame and Bastille are at 10 minutes walk. We also have a very good transport connection : 2 metro lines (7 and 10) and Le Louvre or Opéra are at 12 minutes away by metro. It also has 2 bus lines which allows a direct connection to Bastille, Marais, Louvre or Montmartre.
We are located near the Campus of Jussieu. The neighbourhood is typically French, lively and cool. Lots of cafés, restaurants, street markets etc. The French writer Georges Perrec used to live at this address ' 13 rue Linné ' and Douglas Kennedy's novel 'The woman in the fifth' took place here too. The apartment has a flowered balcony and a nice view. It's at 10 minutes walk to the Seine where you can stroll or jog or enjoy dancing rock and roll or Tango during the summer evenings or have a picnic there and visit the free open air sculpture museum.
Five of us (women, 50-66) shared this apartment and using fold out furniture we each had our own bed. The pull down bed was a very creative idea and worked fine for us. We made use of the boulangeries and patisseries in the neighborhood, and each afternoon met back in the apartment to share stories over wine and cheese. We walked almost everywhere but also had quick access to the bus (right out the front door) and metro (2 1/2 blocks). We were also a half block from a botanical garden which we explored on our first day - very calming after a long flight. It was also good to come home after an evening walk in the neighborhood, to Notre-Dame, or through the Latin Quarter and have the kitchen available to brew a drink. Vilay delayed her trip so that we could meet when we moved in and was very helpful in explaining the details of the apartment. Our only recommendation to her was to add American-style living room chairs (easier to get out of) but all-in-all we had a great time in the apartment and will recommend it to friends coming to Paris.
If you're looking for a quiet spacious 2 bedroom apartment to relax in for your visit to Paris, this could be just what you're looking for. We are a family of 5 - 2 adults / 2 teens / and a tween. The place was perfect for what we needed. Comfortable, clean, nicely appointed, and very inviting. The kitchen and amenities were fine. The fridge and stove were adequate by US standards. The location was excellent for getting around to all the major "must see" places. Vilay our host was very warm, gracious, accessible, and a great source of insider tips for how to enjoy the city. (Vilay's English is great).
The only possible downside is that it's bound to become popular and you might not be able to rent it :)
My wife and I with an adult friend over 60 were expecting a two bedroom two bath apartment. ONe bedroom was a matress on the floor. The other had a Murphy bed which was four and half feet off the floor. As we were all over 62 years of age it was a problem. The power was out for eight hours and the water was off for twelve hours. In a 96 hour stay, it was more of a camping trip. The code for admission to the building was outdated. Thank God for the friendly French people who loaned us their telephone and let us into the Courtyard. This was a bad experience for our Fortieth Anniversary trip. Now the apartment is conveniently located. It would be great for people in their 20's and 30's without children. We survived but would not repeat the experience.
Can't say enough about this nice, roomy, interesting apartment. Beds were comfortable, two small balconies were fun to step out on, living space very accommodating. Best of all is the helpfulness of the owner. Easy email communication, easy deposit and return of deposit (cash at the end of the stay) and help with a situation which came up while we were there. Fully recommend this nice apartment on a quiet street close to bars and restaurants and only 1.5 blocks from the Metro.
We stayed in this apartment for 6 days at the end of July. The apartment is very centrally located in the Latin Quarter, with easy access to the Metro. We would just tumble out of the apartment, walk a block or so, and jump on the Metro. We did this a lot and so got to see a lot of Paris. There is a nice little bakery right across the street and some interesting shops nearby. The Latin Quarter is a very lively area, and although you could occasionally hear street noise at night, if you want a completely silent apartment you should probably not choose the Latin Quarter to stay in.
The apartment is charming, with lots of plants and tasteful decorations. We used the elevator to go up and down quite a bit, and found it very convenient. We made a lot of our meals in the kitchen because eating out is expensive in Paris. There is a cute little balcony with a great view of the street that you can sit on and have coffee. One of the bedrooms has a bed that is elevated, and my 13 year old absolutely loved sleeping on it.
Our host, Vilay, was very helpful. She met us near the Metro and made sure we had everything we needed. I found her very warm, personable, and easy to deal with. All in all, we were very happy with this apartment.
My husband, son and his fiance stayed in this apartment for 6 days at the end of September. The apartment was very clean and spacious and had "a good feel to it". However, there was not enough closet space for us to hang or store our clothes, as there was a lot of other stuff in the closets. It was inconvenient living out of our suitcases for that amount of time. The bathroom was large and very nice, but was a bit dark and could have used more light, particularly in the bathtub/shower area.
The location was very convenient to many of the sights in Paris. We had the options of walking, taking the Metro or the bus to Notre Dame, the iles, the Marais, the Seine, the Louvre and all the other wonderful sights of Paris. Being just a few blocks from Rue Mouffetarde was a real plus, with its street market and many restaurants. One day we bought fresh produce at the market and cooked dinner in the well stocked kitchen. Vilay was very helpful in answering our many questions and even booked a taxi for us on checkout day. All in all, we had a pleasant stay in this Latin Quarter apartment.
