You are in the heart of everything! And blocks from metro stations!
Comfortable luxury, tourist hub location and world class customer service!
This studio apartment located in an upscale secure building was comfortable and convenient. Although Uber was available and inexpensive, my wife and I 9who are in our 60's) found it to be just a short walk to the Washington Mall and all the Capitol "must see" sites. So much better than a hotel in that privacy and comfort, as well as value, was the emphasis. And to top it off, view of the Washington Monument. Although we had just a short visit , this property seemed like a much longer stay could be accommodated beautifully.
This property was exactly as advertised. Spotlessly clean, kitchen was very well equipped and had a selection of spices etc which was good for travellers. It is one block from a metro station, and huge supermarket and chemist, walking distance to the Smithsonian and for our interests a very good position. It was a clean quiet area and we were extremely happy. We are in our late 60's and walked every where and thoroughly enjoyed our 7 days in Washington. Would stay there again.
Very comfortable apartment in a nice building and area, with an easy walk to the National Mall. Had everything we needed and the bed was so comfortable we had no trouble sleeping. Having Safeway nearby was a huge convenience and money saver. Enjoyed Station 4 a couple of times during Happy Hour and had great food. Only negative we had was a lack of towels (only 1 set per person for the week), but apparently that was a oversight by the cleaning people or manager. The owner was always very responsive to our calls and questions and we would recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the DC area.
-Easy walking distance to the Mall, and all of the Smithsonian Museums
-Safeway and CVS nearby...less than a 5 minute walk
-Fully equipped accommodations, with a Safeway Club card to use if you don't have your own, all kitchen stuff, etc.
-Everything worked [which is not always a given].
-The nearest Metro stop, at Waterfront, is served only by the Green line, with really long waits during off-hours and weekends. You can go to L'Enfant Plaza to solve this problem, but that's a good 15 minute hike, so depends on the weather and your final destination as to whether that's a sensible alternative.
-The Waterfront neighborhood is a mixed bag - some new development, and some dodgy areas. It will look and feel a lot better in 2017, when the new waterfront development is supposed to be finished. In the meantime, all of the restaurants and other businesses along the water have disappeared, leaving very little in the immediate vicinity of the property.
-The TV is an HD flat-screen, but the cable hookup delivers nothing but standard-def programming; the only commercial-free alternative is std-def TCM. We used our computer to stream Netflix and Slingbox from home, when the wi-fi speeds were up to the task, which was not all the time.
Overall, we were pleased with this choice as our home for the trip. The big draws were the location, and the nearby shopping, which were very important to us. If you're set on eating out, or looking for lots of night-time entertainment options, you won't be as happy. We felt well-served by our host, and would use the property again.
We so very much enjoyed our stay here. The owner is wonderful to work with - makes sure that everything goes smoothly and that you are all set. This studio is immaculately clean, and has several little touches that we really appreciated, such as a spices and condiments (who wants to buy those on vacation?) and a nice BIG coffee maker. The location is GREAT - about a 10-15 minute walk (we're slower and older) to the Mall, shorter distance to two Metro stations, and as mentioned, the Safeway (and CVS) down the street are VERY handy. It saved us a ton to be able to eat in most of the time. We also had a great meal at Station 4, also just down the street. And as mentioned in previous reviews, between the quiet and the EXTREMELY comfortable bed, we slept like babies!!
The only negatives are incredibly minor - yes, the a/c can be loud, but not a big deal. Otherwise - can't wait to come here again! I didn't want to let the secret out :), but such an attentive owner as this deserves the accolades!
The apartment looks just like the photo: very clean and well-appointed studio. I used the kitchen several times and appreciated having a few cooking utensils and a coffee maker. The walk-in closet is HUGE! Plenty of room to unpack and settle in. The king-size bed is comfortable. I enjoyed going to sleep with a view of the Washington Monument and the moon in the distance. Making room for the airbed was a challenge, as the couch and coffee table are large (which are good things). My only complaint is that the air conditioning unit is quite loud and may disturb your sleep (although it works effectively). The owner went out of her way to accommodate the need for an extra keyless lobby entry fob. While out jogging, I discovered a major theater company just blocks away; a true bonus for a theater geek like me! Not many restaurants around yet, but they're just a metro-ride away. This is going to be a great location once the waterfront/marina is finished with its renovation.
This location is blocks walking distance to shops, grocery stores, Independence AVE, National Mall, Constitution Ave, American Indian museum, Pennsylvania AVE,. Navy Yard and many more!
Golf: East Potomac Park is a 300+ acre peninsula located between the Washington Channel and the Potomac River on the south side of the Tidal Basin. The park features many of Washington's famous cherry trees, has terrific views of the city and is a popular place for biking, running, fishing and picnics.
