Our large private garden cottage is located just 50 steps away from Kailua Beach. The lush garden setting offers a large air conditioned bedroom that sleeps 4 (queen size bed and 2 twin beds), with a screened in lanai (sunroom) that sleeps two more.
Exquisitely furnished with antiques and aloha, our cottage offers you the Hawaii that few will see. This 1000 sq.foot cottage embodies the type of living that Hawai'i is known for. From the screened in lanai (patio), to an open garden area just right to bar-b-que, our cottage offers island living at it's best. Famlies with children enjoy a large yard and the closeness of the beach.
Beach amenities available at no extra charge: Boogie boards, sand toys, beach towels, and sand chairs. Kailua Beach Vacation Cottage provides a little bit more so you can bring less!

As lifelong residents of Kailua, we were fortunate to have a property large enough to have our parents living with us. Once they decided to go to the mainland, we started having many family and friends visit and they wanted their friends and family to visit as well... our cottage became the everyone's 'home away from home'...and the traditions and the aloha continue...
- Located on a private road, you have a private access to Kailua Beach...
- Only three homes from the beach
- Only three homes from Kalapawai Market and Deli and the entrance to Kailua Beach State Park
- Close to Segway of Hawaii, Bob's Pizza, K&K Bar-B-Que, The Sweet Shop, Island Snow &
Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks!

Aloha, The beach house was awesome. It was so nice to stay in a place with true hawaiin spirit. From the moment we arrived, I felt at home. After meeting kelly, patrick and the girls, it was like they were part of the family. They were so welcoming, helpful, and completely in tune with all we needed. I loved walking over the dune each morning, to find our beautiful beach. Watching the kite surfers, wind surfers, paddle boards and the doggies was so much fun. The only downfall was the traffic noises when sleeping, I live in an extremely quiet neighborhood though. I would definately come back to stay, and recommend it to all.
We loved Kelly & Pat's beautiful, spacious and well-appointed cottage, just a short stroll to one of the top beaches in the world. They thought of everything- lots of beach equipment, plentiful towels, washer/dryer, kitchen, and a super comfortable space with a big screen porch for sleeping, lounging, watching movies or eating. They are perfect hosts- friendly, welcoming and responsive, but also leave you alone to enjoy your vacation. We will definitely be back- what a great experience. (and the price is really reasonable for the amount of space and amenities).
I apologize for submitting this review so late. Just searching through old emails to look for VRBO number to inquire about another stay here. My husband, 2 children (8yo and then 9 1/2yo), and I had such a wonderful time. Cottage was spacious, clean, and gave the island feel. We used to live in Kailua many years ago. This place was perfect for our family. The beach is just a few yards away, Green Store walking distance for morning coffee, shops also walking distance. We often barbecued and had family over. We never once felt cramped. It was helpful having beach chairs, towels, and beach toys. The kids still speak about our time there, including the delicious mangos from the tree on the property. "Auntie" Kelly and "Uncle" Pat were wonderful and we felt like family. We hope to stay for a month!
Aloha! My family of 5 spent a week at the Kailua Beach Vacation Cottage and had the best time ever! I highly recommend staying here...especially if you have a family and want a relaxing, peaceful time in Kailua. The cottage is plenty big for five people and it feels open and bright. The amenities and supplies (including boogie boards, sand toys, etc.) were plentiful and we only had to supply our food and a few paper products. Kelly really has thought of everything. The cottage felt like home away from home. The location of the cottage is very ideal. My children could walk through a gate, pass three homes, and be safely on the path to the beach. We did not have to cross any dangerous roads to get to the beach. This was a common problem when we looked at other properties on the island. The cottage is close to a small shopping strip and convenience store. Safeway is 5 minutes away. We ate 95% of our meals at the cottage, but there is some nice dining in Kailua. I have been to several beaches in my lifetime, but the Kailua beach is probably the best one I have ever spent time on. Powdery white sand, clean along the entire beach, and warm, blue water to swim in! Kailua is a quaint little town with a wonderful island feel. Kelly and Pat are excellent hosts and make you feel like you are part of the family. We felt entirely comfortable staying here and know where we will stay the next time we visit Kailua! Mahalo and Aloha!~
My son, four year old grand daughter and I just spent five days as guests of Kelly and Par's and feel we have enjoyed the perfect holiday destination, Kailua has to be one of the most beautiful places in the state. We loved the cottage and feel the photos don't do it justice. It is so clean and well equiped. As well, Kelly has many staples in the kitchen which really helps when you are there for a short stay. Her warm welcome included placing her daughter's Polly Pockets in the Lanai for my granddaughter to play with(very appreciated). The short walk to a great and safe beach was a real luxury. I am already planning a return with friends, Mahalo,
I stayed at the cottage in November 2012 for 5 days. It is easy to locate, has ample off street parking and is very close to the beach. The cottage is much larger than it appears in the photos and the lanai is one of its main attractions. The bedroom is quite large and easily cooled with the air conditioner. The cottage is a very relaxing place to enjoy and to entertain family or friends. The owners are right next door and very helpful when I needed anything, but not at all intrusive. I l lived in Hawai'i for many years, and have rented several places in Kailua. This cottage is definitely a favorite and I will return to it. Mahalo and a hui hou, Kelly!
We are a family of 4, and this cottage suited us very well. All the reviews and Kelly's description are right on target. Kailua beach( and near-by Lanikai) are dreamy... They invite you into the water. When you stay in this cottage, You are 60 seconds from Kailua beach, walking down the back path to get there. We went swimming at least twice a day. even when we went somewhere else for the day, we would go down and swim at the end of the day. We would go down with our coffee at 6 am ( some benefits to being on mainland time) for the sunrise. The outdoor shower is great, and the beach stuff kept things simple with the kids... They would each grab a boogie board and we would go.
Restaurants: we hit boots and Kimos right as they opened and avoided the wait, and also ate breakfast at cinnamons. We loved our dinner at formaggio(the shoe string French fries were great, but it is an upscale place), and we picked up good things to BBQ at Hibachi... Try that. We ate at Prima: the wood fired pizza was great, their signature tagliatelle was fabulous, but the rest was a bit too interesting, but if you are a foodie I would recommend trying it.
The cottage is easy walking distance (one block)to a small market with a very useful deli, a pizza place, and a shaved ice place. These are next to the kayak rental place, and we kayaked to 'flat island' off the coast of Kailua.
Good to pay attention to the fact that the kitchen is somewhere between a full kitchen and a kitchenette... It was fine for us, as we did not need to cook any big meals, but it is good to know what to expect( Kelly is clear about everything in her descriptions). And the cottage does back up to the busy street, so expect some traffic noise.
Oh, and there is a whole foods in Kailua, which just solidifies the deal on making this an incredible place to visit.
My spouse( a very fit man with a history of surfing ) took a kiteboarding lesson on the beach. You will watch people kiteboarding at this beach. His lesson was private, 3 hours, and he got to the stage of being dragged through the water by the kite.... He did not get to the point of using a board. You need more time for that. :)
