This house could be a real gem however.............
The owner is a contractor who never quite finished the house. Two large cabinets in the kitchen have no shelves. There are also no shelves or dressers to put away your clothes. Ok.....there is a closet with one shelf above but a dresser or MORE shelves would have been nice. No big deal....The real problem with the place is the water. I spoke to the owner about the shower head being clogged with minerals. In a timely manner he replaced the shower head. The issue is that the water is very high in minerals. I am accustom to this coming from western NY. One of my homes has an inline water filter because of high sulfur content. The filter takes care of it as long as you replace the filter every couple of months. My other house has extremely high iron in the water so we have a water softener. That takes care of the problem as long as your keep up on the salt ever couple of months; no big deal. However, when I tried to discuss this issue with the owner, his response was that he was taking care of the problem. But, I didn't see the effects of any water treatment. My clothes and my husbands white socks, shirts, underwear, anything white got ruined with iron spots. At the very least, the owner should mentions this issue in his promotion of the property. How much effort would it take to put a note on the washing machine itself?
Beside that, the master bedroom had at least 4-5 windows that opened which was nice except the window shades did not go easily up or down because the window frames weren't square and the shades were cut too large. The lack of maintenance around the property didn't bother me because the deck is nice but you can't walk off 2 out of 3 stairs because of weeks.
If you want a private place in the Cooper Landing, I would probably NOT recommend this place since it is very expensive, even for Alaska, for what you get. In my opinion, it wouldn't take much to make it a five star place with a few improvements.
