Anton Haardt, an accomplished artist who has incorporated Latin influences into her art, creates prints, drawings, collages and assemblages that have been exhibited in New Orleans, Montgomery, Key West, as well as Paris and several cities in Mexico. Childhood memories growing up in the South are sometimes her inspiration, as well as Latin influences. She has lived part time for twenty years in a small fishing village in Yelapa Mexico.-She not only is a artist and folk art collector, but a writer too:'MOSE T FROM A TO Z: THE FOLK ART OF MOSE TOLLIVER'

YELAPA, a tiny fishing village of Yelapa was the refuge of Bob Dylan, Dennis Hopper, and other cosmic caballero types who gathered in search of lonely beaches, cheap tequila, and peaceful relaxation. Only fairly recently have more mainstream travelers begun looking to the 2,000-person town as a quiet antidote to the condo complexes and American chaos. I prefer Yelapa to Cancun or busy populated beaches!
FISHING IS GREAT (100$ private trips available upon request)

Go to "the point" where you can find crashing waves, fishing and a small beach
for swimming and sun bathing just 5-10 minutes walk from the casa.Walk
the oposite direction from the pueblo.
In the immediate Playita (pueblo) neighborhood you have Brisa's yummy
cinnamon rolls which you can customize with her and she will
deliver it to you. Pollo Bollo is excellent and clean. Jaime is the chef and
local comedian. Also the pie lady will deliver hot, fresh baked pie
to your gate in the morning if you ask for it. there is is excellent food in the pueblo.Taco's y Mas has great jazz music and Shrimp tacos!Up River" is an amazing hike 2-6 hours depending on how far you go
to waterfalls, macaws and many other beautiful sites. There is also
one restaurant named "Christina's" that has excellent, healthy food. The pueblo waterfall is close and has an excellent, but limited
restaurant. It varies depending on the season as to the size of the waterfalls.
"The Islands" are an experience you'll never forget. There are blue
footed booby birds,(also found in the Galapagos Islands) caverns like>cathedrals
and amazing beaches.

I have stayed at the Casa Miguel on two separate occasions, in 2010 and in this year of 2013. The house is unbelievable. The culture is rich and the pacific waters lend for some incredible fishing and seafaring adventures, like catching rock lobster at night in the dark waters filled with bioluminescent plankton. The plankton light up a vibrant chartreuse color with the disturbance of the water and stream off your finger tips as though you were flying through some fantastical liquid wonderland. Dive deep to catch the big langosta then return home and put them on the skillet with a bit of mantequilla and limón. Or, if you are a bit more tame and less willing to risk sun burns on a small panga (fishing vessel) and daunting night waters 300ft deep, the local eateries and fisherman will set you up right with crispy fish tacos and delightful passion fruit cocktails, all made fresh as can be.
Take a nice walk to the beach during a full moon night and you will find some local revelry and charm. Gathered around a fire, people bring drums and guitars and are ready to sing mexican mountain songs to the moon and tide. Leave your ipad at home, or don't, these evenings are mystic and instill a presence of age old traditions and the time crawls like a snake through the hills.
The Casa Miguel is astonishing, a real retreat for writers and artisans alike. I find myself constantly questioning why I don't live there full time. Getting to the hidden bay called Yelapa is most splendid, in that it's very easy and provides the most scenic of views along the way. Once you arrive in Yelapa by Water Taxi, it's time to settle in at Casa Miguel, put your feet up and skim along the blue horizon with a tranquil mind.
I highly recommend the Casa Miguel, it is a most sincerely impressive place.
I rented Casa Miguel for the month of April. After adjusting to the jungle atmosphere, I realized that the jungle isn't that bad, in fact it was great fun!
The home, Casa Miguel, has an artistic flavor with ceramic sculptures, the house has a Bohemian flavor with a hammock right in the front room with a beautiful view of the ocean. The house is stocked with mexican china, flatware, skillets and most kitchen utensil you will need to enjoy your home cooked meals right in your rental home overlooking the Bahia de Banderas.
Casa Miguel has easy access to the sea so you can dip into the ocean anytime you wish, and is a short walk to the heart of Yelapa, also only a few minutes away from the public beach where there are restaurants, local bars, and the beach with spectacular views and local people helping you feel right at home.
Casa Miguel is a truly unique home that overlooks a meandering path with views across the Pacific ocean. it's hard to beat this location!
It's an amazing experience just embrace the ambiance of the wilderness and step into the world of Yelapa and forget all your worries from your fast paced life back home. And, no cars or busy, bustling, aggravating, city distractions...
