A perfect three season rental right on Sakonnet Harbor in Little Compton, RI where you can watch close-up the comings and goings of fishing boats and pleasure craft. Looking west towards the Newport mansions across the mouth of the Sakonnet River enjoy magnificent sunsets from the waterside porch or enclosed sun room. Just steps from water's edge and the only cottage on the harbor that has a large private side yard!

The large private side yard provides plenty of space for games such as volleyball or and evening cookout with friends and family. The rocks in front are a great place to dive off into the water and an easy place to put in kayaks.

Inside this two story shingled bungalow are four bedrooms and two full baths. There is a good sized living room with a native stone fireplace plus dining room and an extra den/playroom with TV. The house is winterized with heat in all rooms. Unsurpassed views from almost every room in the house.

A short, less-than-a mile walk or bike ride takes you to two different beaches, Lloyds near the landmark Sakonnet Lighthouse and Tappans at the end of scenic Round Pond. Also, a short walk to the Stone House Inn and Spa, Sakonnet Yacht Club and Sakonnet Golf Club.

The house is at the end of a quiet private lane, approximately 3 miles from the picturesque town of Little Compton where you can get groceries at Wilbur's General Store, a meal at the Commons Lunch or, a cup of coffee at the Art Cafe.

Magical place

We had a wonderful, wonderful time here—6 adults, 1 toddler, and 1 baby. The harbor really is your front yard, and the lawn itself is huge and sunny and breezy and a great place for kids to run around and for grown-ups to have drinks. The inside of the house is lovely, well-appointed but not too fussy, as a beach house should be. It was a hot week and our house and yard were cool as could be thanks to the breeze of the water. It's a magical place and when we return to Little Compton, we'll be staying here again.

Wonderful Vacation Getaway on the Water

The photos on the website for this property don't do it justice. This is a perfect old New England seaside cottage at the end of a private lane with water views from 3/4 of the property. Large glassed in sun porch means you can enjoy the view in any weather. Cottage is well equipped and decor is "cottage chic". Beautiful original wooden floors, open and airy. (I especially loved the pale aqua walled sitting room with comfy white sofa and chairs and harbor view.) Two bedrooms on the ground floor make this very accessible for those with mobility issues. This was a low-key girls' getaway and we appreciated the fact that there were lots of lamps that a human being could actually read by! Kristin was great to deal with and very accommodating to our need to flex a bit because of a death in the family. Little Compton is beautiful, peaceful and a great place for walking. Not for folks who want boardwalk excitement, but it is a perfect retreat! And although you have to travel for dining, area restaurants were uniformly excellent. The Commons Lunch is a family restaurant with really outstanding food. The Barn in nearby Adamsville is wonderful for breakfast.

The perfect getaway

This wonderful, comfortable private cottage felt like home immediately, located at the end of a quiet country lane, yet right on Sakonnet Harbor and convenient to all that Little Compton offers, such as the Commons. The property is well equipped with everything you, your family and friends need to have a spectacular oceanside vacation, including kitchen and dining ware, bedding, kayaks, bikes and even croquet for the expansive side yard. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking right off our front yard. In the evening, we marveled at the sunset and then, if it got a little cool, the gas heating system quickly warmed us up. Many thanks to our hosts for sharing their lovely home. We are sure to be back as soon as we can!

Serene and Relaxing

The beach house is beyond cozy and the view is absolutely stunning! The soaring seagulls and hopping baby bunnies in the grass were just the few natural beauties that kept us in awe. Not to mention the beautiful harbor filled with sailboats, gorgeous sunsets, and the endless searches for sea glass right outside the front door. We thought we found a little treasure when we arrived and never felt so relaxed upon arriving home after one heavenly vacation.

This place is everything you want for a vacation. The house is an open planned Bungalow full of light and air with porches, a deck and a fireplace. The house is right on the water overlooking little Sakonnet Point Harbour. The house is right where the river meets the sea. There's a lighthouse and lots of gorgeous pink granite rocks and beaches galore. The house is surrounded by a soft green lawn. The neighborhood is upscale but has quaint charm and an unpretentious feel. The folks that we met in passing were friendly and welcoming.
'We are kayakers and although we put our boats into the water a block from the house at the Harbour boat launch, we found that we could pull them up right in front of the house and be ready to go the next day. There is a wealth of paddling to do--if only we had had time to do a tenth of it.
The house has everything you need and is well- appointed. The rooms are comfortable, big and bright. There is a feeling of generosity and good will about the place. We hope to return and do some bike riding and explore the little roads, the nature reserves and the ponds that abound. And by all means, more kayaking.
