House, 3 Bedrooms + Office/twin bed, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 7-8)

Stunning water views from every room and a sandy beach right across the street make this large, upscale, custom-built, beautifully appointed home a highly desirable vacation property! With central air conditioning, the home is located just a mile from the charming Guilford Green, convenient to shopping. The open floor plan and 9' high ceilings provide a contemporary and spacious feel. Enjoy relaxing and al fresco dining on the wrap-around mahogany deck with comfortable outdoor lounge and dining set. There is a large yard for outdoor activities, with landscape-architect designed planting beds. Central air conditioning throughout. The Master Bedroom suite on the second floor is 'more than spacious' - check the reviews! - with walk-in closet and Master bath with double sinks, double shower with massage jets, and jetted tub. Two bedrooms with queen size beds share a double-sinked, full bath. There is an upstairs laundry and plenty of closet space. The first floor office has a twin bed and trundle twin bed, across from a full bath. There is wireless internet access from every room, cable HDTV with internet connectivity, DVD, VHS, video game consoles, Weber gas grill, Dacor range, Sub-Zero frig, Miele dishwasher, washer and dryer, granite and marble counters, and purified drinking water. There are 2 Kayaks, a ping pong table, and plenty of toys and books for the kids. Nearby are hiking and biking trails, golfing, tennis, swimming. There are sidewalks for walkers. Outlet shopping is 15 min. by car. Yale/New Haven is 25 min. by car. Day-trip options include Mystic Seaport/Aquarium (~1 hr.), Mohegan Sun/Foxwoods (~45 min.), NYC (~1.5 hr.), Boston (~2.5 hr.), Block Island.

I am a teacher and have travelled all over the world. I have settled in Guilford, and love it here.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000
Why The Owner chose Guilford

Nothing beats the water views and the sandy beach next door. I love the peacefulness of the property, the feeling of being right in nature, as well as the convenience of being close to town and shopping. And Guilford is one of the most charming towns of New England, in my opinion. What better place to have a vacation property?!

What makes this house unique

I love the great restaurants and boutique and outlet shopping. The sandy beach is right across the street, and the water is calm. There is even a new playground. I find every sunrise and sunset over the water stunningly beautiful. There is a farmer's market closeby. The Guilford Art Center offers great classes. There are several dance studios here and a classy day spa. The bookstore and public library are terrific. Family summer concerts on the Green, Shakespeare in the park, and pick-your-own fruit/berry orchards are all right here. Everything that feeds your soul and body!

My wife, two young sons and I had the great pleasure to rent this home in August of 2011. We arrived in the morning, sight unseen, and were immediately put at ease. It was immediately apparent that we were not to stay in a “rental property” rather a beautiful home with grand views of the long island sound. The pictures cannot come close to capturing the beauty and serenity of the spot. My wife and I spent many of our days across the street at a playground and beach, and our evenings enjoying the wraparound porch, enjoying the sunsets while our children played on the grass within view. The home is thoughtfully decorated with large windows, many views and is flooded with natural light. The master bedroom is enormous (close to the size of our NY apartment), the master bathroom hosts a Jacuzzi tub and a great shower. For those renters with children, there are dozens of toys and an entire library to enjoy. The owner was available for questions and a manager down the street checked in frequently. I was able to make use of the train station located just minutes from the house making my weekend trips to and from NYC a breeze. I could not ask for a better experience both in terms of the character of the home as well as its proud owner.

Wonderful family friendly home

We had the pleasure of spending the fourth of july week at this comfortable and luxurious home. The house was very well equipped. We enjoyed watching multiple fireworks displays from the upstairs bedrooms. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the water was wonderful. We enjoyed the fireflies dancing in the yard during the evening. A very short walk out the side yard and across the road brought us to the city beach park with playground, volleyball court, and beach. We had the chance to talk the kayaks out onto the water. A short walk will bring you to several resturants at the marina. Our three kids, 3, 7, and 9, had a great time with the basketball hoop, ping pong table, TV w/ cable, and toys. Yes we're fortunate that there were lots of toys to keep our 3 year old boy busy. We had a great time and highly recommend this wonderful home.
