|Minimum Stay||5 nights|
Our Maui vacation rental is a light and airy one-bedroom, two-bath condominium on the second floor of Ekahi's Upper Village. It comfortably sleeps four guests, with a lovely tropical garden view overlooking a quiet and peaceful swimming pool (Pool #3). You also enjoy a gorgeous partial ocean view from the pretty lanai and our well-stocked kitchen. Vaulted 15+ foot ceilings in the great room of our Maui rental create a feeling of spaciousness that belies its size.
Although the interior space and lanai are only 1090 square feet, the condominium is laid out in such a way as to more than accommodate four people. You will also find it equipped with beach chairs, towels, umbrella, boogie board, many videos and DVD's, books, WiFi, and everything else necessary for a delightful sojourn in Maui.
It is a five minute walk down a greenbelt to Keawakapu Beach and the ocean -- no roads to cross! You can snorkel or jump waves to your heart's content; it is a sandy white beach about a mile long. Our unit is quiet, not on the street, and you will hear the birdsongs as you enjoy all the bouganvillea, palm trees, bamboo and flowers that are within reach from our lanai. The snorkeling is fantastic right in front of Ekahi.
See our own website for details, more photos, and virtual tours of the condominium (click on link below).
We have loved Maui and have been coming to Ekahi for over 25 years now. Our children (now in their early 20s and late teens) learned to surf, snorkel, and boogie board right at Ekahi with us. We are an active family, so some hike Haleakala crater (the volcano), some paraglide up at Kula, some surf or windsurf all over Maui, and others just soak the rays on our beach.
Marilee purchased this condo in 2005
Tom and I bought our second-story unit in Ekahi after renting for a number of years (and enjoying our parents' unit in the 1980s) -- we love the flowers, plumeria trees, and the beach most of all. It is so sunny in Wailea ~ always beautiful weather and clear waters for snorkeling.
We always see turtles here when we snorkel, and the whales are sometimes right off the beach between November and April. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting on the lanai of our condo, 42E.
Looks even better in person. Sitting on the back deck is like being in an episode of Wild Kingdom. Saw whales within 10 minutes of arriving and they put on a performance for almost an hour!!! A friendly gecko visited this morning...we had breakfast together on the back deck. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and I love the "beach toy" closet. That will save us alot on rentals
Couldn't be happier
I have had the pleasure of staying twice at this beautiful condo--- once with my wife and once with my wife and 3 adult children. The Ekahi complex is in a quiet wonderfully landscaped lush environment with expansive lawns, palms and pathways and the feeling of openness. The lawns slope down to the pool and to a lovely white sand beach. The adjacent rocks provide a great place to snorkel—lots of fish and turtles. The owners provide snorkeling and beach gear which is a big plus.
The condo itself is very comfortable and well appointed with everything one would need. The balcony deck looks out over bougainvillea and the ocean and is especially relaxing. We had most of our meals there and used the gas BBQ often (sharing of course with the very friendly golden dust day gecko that is happy to lick syrup off your finger if offered). The beds are comfy, the linens fresh, the kitchen well supplied. We will stay here again. I wish I was there now.
A perfect place to experience Maui and Hawaiian paradise! Bright and cheery, clean and comfortable...ideal tropical setting and views, wonderful pools, ideally located to the best (and uncrowded) beaches, and close to a variety of dining and other conveniences. Unit feels very private with lush landscaping and well-stocked for island fun. We ventured other towns and beaches but always came back to Wailea Ekahi as the best place to relax and unwind. Highly-recommend!
I had never been to Hawai'i before this trip and our stay was fantastic. The grounds were well kept and quite. The pool located directly behind the condo is a "quite" pool which was true almost always had the pool to ourselves if we didn't feel like taking the short walk to the beach.
The spacious condo was much larger than we expected, with lots of ceiling fans which keep things very cool and comfortable. The lanai with the grill is a must use! We ate our breakfast, lunch, and dinner out there if we decided to cook at home instead of going to a near by eatery. There is also a nearby farmers' market in Kihei that runs M-F with a small, but nice selection of local produce, you can also grab a shave ice in the same mini-plaza they were the best we had.
The owners of the property provide you with lots of great options for food and entertainment that is close by and day trip suggestions that are tried and true. We took a surfing lesson from the flyer on the cork board in the kitchen and had a great time with a lunch plate suggestion from our instructor that was awesome too.
If you are looking for a great place to spend with your sweetie or your family, my girlfriend and I highly recommend you stay at Wailea Ekahi Condominium and let the sun melt your cares away.
Our family (including 2 children, then ages 9 & 6) stayed here during our children's first visit to Maui. The unit is exactly as described: light, bright and airy; and stocked with plenty of things that make this truly a "home away from home."
The kitchen (which is often referred to as the "heart" of the home) was well stocked with everything needed, including a variety of condiments and various items in the pantry and refrigerator. Having a grill on the lanai was wonderful for the many barbeques we enjoyed on the fabulous lanai. Our daughter, an avid reader, found her favorite spot to be the hammock chair on the lanai, where she enjoyed many good reads, and where we found plenty of time to relax.
The bedroom is nice and cozy, and the murphy bed in the livingroom was not only comfortable, but to my young son's delight, one of his favorite "surprises" as he said, "Wow! A secret bed!" As a mother, I loved having the in unit washer/dryer!
The layout of the unit is spacious, and away from any noise whatsoever. We really enjoyed having one of the resort's "quiet" pools near the unit for those late night and early morning dips. The larger pool, located near the beach, is a short walk away, along the lush greenbelt. The kids really enjoyed being able to easily alternate between the beach and the resort's larger pool, connected by a private entrance. Accessing the resort's amenities, including paddle ball, shuffleboard, and swimming is a short walk away. And, if you choose to drive down to the larger pool, it's a mere minute drive.
Marilee thought of many things making a family's stay a comfortable and relaxing one: from books to read, to music to enjoy, to beach chairs/toys to relax and play in; to say this unit is well stocked is an understatement.
I think this is a perfect resort and unit for either a family, couple, or even someone traveling alone. Marilee was a delight to deal with, and was always prompt, professional and provided great customer service, including tips on local restaurants, excursions, and events.
We would return to Ekahi in a heartbeat; and when Marilee says they often have repeat guests, we can happily say we are one of them, as we have just scheduled our family's second trip back to Maui. Our kids (now ages 11 & 8) immediately, and excitedly said, "Can we please go back to the same place - we loved it there!!"
A trip to Ekahi 42 at Wailea is pretty close to heaven. We got up every morning and snorkeled in the ocean before breakfast. Almost every day we saw sea turtles as well as an array of tropical fish in the rock cove right off the beach at Ekahi. If swimming with a sea turtle amidst the colored coral does not start your day out perfectly, I don’t know what would.
The condo is beautifully spacious, with high ceilings. A soft fresh breeze comes in the screen door from the lanai. The view takes in loads of flowers - bougainvillea, plumeria and oleander - along with graceful waving palm trees and the blue, blue Pacific ocean. We ate every meal on the lanai. We just did not want to go out to a restaurant when we could watch the sun set and grill up fresh mahi mahi on the outdoor patio along with a big green salad and cold gin and tonics.
The owner has thought of everything at this unit. The kitchen is fully stocked with every conceivable utensil for the dedicated chef. The double bed in the master bedroom is deliciously comfortable and firm, as is the couch in the living room. Fresh beach towels, snorkels and fins, a collection of movies and music, books and magazines -- you can just move in for a week and luxuriate. This is one of the nicest units in the Ekahi complex -- beautifully private, a lovely view, in a quiet spot near the upper pool, and a lovely two minute stroll across the spacious lawns and gorgeous gardens down to the beach.
I recommend a trip to the little stone church at Makena if you are there on a Sunday. Services are at 10 am and songs are sung in English and Hawaiian. Visitors are made very welcome at this lovely church which was built in 1830 -- the pastor is a very kind Hawaiian fellow who speaks from the heart.
I cannot thank Marilee, the owner, enough for making our visit so thoroughly pleasurable. I hope to come back soon to Ekahi 42.
