Remember your childhood memories of wonderful Northern Michigan summers or create new ones with your family. Our 4 bedroom 2 bath cottage is full of north woods charm. No detail has been spared to make your stay at 'Beautiful Torch Lake' one you will always remember. The cottage is situated on 50 feet of private frontage on the crystal blue waters of Torch Lake (voted third most beautiful lake in the world by National Geographic magazine). Imagine yourself sitting on the large deck in a beach chair while the kids swim or boat in the lake. At night, enjoy sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows under the clear star-filled skies.

Walk to Alden or Boat to Popular Destinations

The cottage is only a short walk (1/4 mile on a quiet street) from downtown Alden – a charming small town with a spirit you have to experience to believe. Alden is known for its flower-lined streets where everyone you meet offers a friendly greeting. Alden has several restaurants, and Higgins General Store that has the best, biggest, ice cream cones you could ever eat. The town has cute boutique stores, a deli, family bar, tennis and basketball courts, and a park with a playground. Just at the end of the road are the public boat launch, library and community center. The popular Dockside restaurant is just 10 minutes away by boat or car. Torch Lake’s famous sandbar is also a short boat ride away at the southern end of the lake.

Comfortable Family Cottage

The cottage is situated on the most desirable part of Torch Lake. The sunsets are breathtaking, the lake bottom is hard sand, and because of the way the winds blow, there are very few mosquitoes! A large deck overlooks the water providing wonderful outdoor dining and lounging areas. Ample beach chairs and outdoor furniture are provided. We include a dock and mooring for your boat. There are also many opportunities to rent watercraft locally.

The cottage is fully furnished and provides central air conditioning for those extra hot summer nights. The cottage is decorated in the north woods theme. We supply all linens, pillows, towels, paper products and soap products. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, dishes and all pots and pans. We also provide a washer and dryer.

The main level features a large open kitchen and family room with a beautiful stone wood burning fireplace, leather furniture and sweeping views of Torch Lake. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and a sliding door onto the deck overlooking the lake – less than 50 feet away. Also on the main level, there is another bedroom containing a full sized bed with a twin bunk over it. The walkout basement has 2 nicely appointed bedrooms containing twin size bunk beds, a half bath, wood burning stove, television and a Foosball table and a queen sized sleeper sofa.

Disclaimer: Please remember, this is a quiet street and this cottage is ideally suited for families looking to build life long memories and is definitely NOT a party cottage.

My family and I have been enjoying Alden and Torch Lake for the past 60 years. We have made many friends and have many fond memories. We invite you to do the same.

Our cottage is located on Lake Street which is a cute street lined with historic cottages and less than a 1/4 mile from the village of Alden.

Our cottage tends to rent quickly due to many return renters and the many features and ideal setting our cottage provides.

You will fall in love with Torch Lake and Alden - just like we did.

Great Location, great cottage!

The cottage was well kept and well maintained. It was very nice and comfortable. We had a problem with the internet on Thursday evening, on Friday we called and they called right back. The problem was fixed quickly. We already signed up to hopefully be able to rent this again next year! The bed was extremely comfortable (that me and my husband slept in). Ample room to bring your own food and store it. Overall, I would highly recommend this place!

Beautiful Family Time

I can say each family member had a wonderful time, from the youngest (14 months) to my husband and I (64). The cottage is perfect, central air, washer/dryer, lovely woodsy decor, a well-furnished deck overlooking the sky blue waters of Torch Lake. We love the short walk to Alden. Discovered the garden by the spice store there. Mooring for our boat right in front of the cottage. Sunny weather every day: we took the boat trip to Elk Rapids, went skiing and tubing, visited the sandbar and Dockside. Watched beautiful sunsets and had fun roasting marshmallows around the fire pit as the skies darkened. Memories that will last forever for our family! We want to thank the owners and Annie for this!

Excellent Views!

This is our second trip to this great spot. We've always enjoyed Torch Lake since we were kids. Now our Dad is 84 and it is difficult for him to get around. The master bedroom on the main floor across from the bathroom works perfectly for him. The rest of us spread out upstairs and down. The deck is the absolute best feature...It is shaded and large and well equipped for just sitting, playing cards, or reading. You can wander into town; which we did many times. It's very quiet and peaceful! Everyone is very friendly and it's wonderful to check out all the other nice homes as you are walking. We hit the Alden Bar, the breakfast restaurant uptown (which we still call Margie's Biscuit Hut!), Mrs. Pete's in Bellaire, the Dockside, and Grass River for a great walk/hike...
This year we did try to grill but found the grill would not ignite; may have been out of propane. Other than that, everything was clean and worked well.
We think it's a treasure and I've told several other friends about it.
The cleaning fee is a bit pricey for 3 nights; that would be the only negative and that's pretty minor!
We hope to be able to return next season and might even try a week! Thank you!

This was a great location and perfectly laid out summer home for a relaxing vacation. There is space on the grounds, deck, and living area for young children to play and adults to relax. Torch Lake as billed is clear and beautiful. The rental property is accurately described and clean. We did bring a blow up pool for our grandchildren under three, which worked out very well because although the water is shallow for older children.. they had to be held in the lake. We had a great time and would recommend this property.

Simply Awesome

After years of staying in the North woods in Wi, we wanted to explore northern michigan and torch lake. Our small family had a wonderful time, there is plenty of room, AC, the house meticulous. There is a short walk to the pier, town, park, and a grocery store within minutes when driving. We will definitely be back, one week flew by way to fast. Everyone one was friendly, and the weather was unseasonably warm for our stay. Annie is very helpful and accommodating, I can't imagine a better place to rent on Torch Lake.
