Exactly as Pictured!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. We are 58 and 60 years of age and wanted a getaway from a cold, harsh winter and nonstop work the past 5 months. We are from the Hudson Valley in NY and we drove up the Thruway/Northway and took the Grand Isle Ferry across Lake Champlain to get here. Almost immediately we were discussing when we could come back! The setting is just wonderful- the cottage is surrounded on 2 sides by water, with 2 decks for eating and relaxing. Even from inside the cottage, you have views of the water, including the bedroom. Very peaceful. The inside was very clean and comfortable. Decorated in a nautical/rustic type style. Kitchen had everything we needed for the most part and we ate most meals in. Very good Wi-Fi as well. Owners Mark and Martha are very nice and helpful. We didn't use the rowboat, as the weather wasn't the greatest for several days, but on the good days we chose to relax on the decks, or visit the Champlain Islands and State Parks for some sightseeing. The parks, including Kill Kare, Sand Bar and Alburg Dunes have real nice swim beaches, but they had just opened the week were were there and the water was still cold. Still, the views are to die for and we picnicked along the shores. There is a ferry that will take you from Kill Kare State Park to Burton Island State Park, but we didn't get to do that this time around. You can also, in warmer weather, swim right from the beach area at the cottage. If you have your own boat and/or like to fish, this is the place for you! We were visited every morning by Canadian Geese and their goslings- very cute! We also took a run into Burlington to the Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory, rented bikes and road on the bike path along the lake and took a Trolley Tour of the city. We visited some northern towns as well. Had dinner in St. Albans at Jeff's Maine Seafood Restaurant- delicious- the Thai restaurant across from Hannafords (Yankee Magazine rated "Best Thai New England" and Pie in the Sky Pizza-all recommended- and lunch at Hero's Welcome in North Hero. Also saw a movie in St. Albans. The cottage is in a great location for touring and activities in the area. St. Alban's Bay is beautiful with it's views of the Adirondacks and its' islands. This cottage is great for couples like us, or families-there are bedrooms upstairs for the kids and there are 2 bathrooms downstairs. There were plenty of movies, books, magazines and games in the home. Hope to come back again sometime.

Marvelous home !

  • 5 of 5
This house is just situated in a perfect place ! all around, you can admire Lake Champlain.
This house is very well furnished and equiped (beds are very good) and also very clean.
The owners, Martha and Mark are really friendly and took much care of us. It was a great pleasure to meet them.
We enjoyed visiting surroundings, Burlington, Canada...and also practicing canoe and kayak.
The trouble is that we live a 6000 km !!! otherwise we would quickly come back !
It's a very nice and peaceful place to spend very good hollidays !

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5
My husband, daughter, and parents rented this as a get away. We needed a week to unwind and relax. My sister joined us for the second weekend, and it was simply wonderful. The view is spectacular, and the house is beautiful and well-kept. There are things to do nearby for those wanting some outings. We chose to play outside with our dogs (who loved the water) and to relax and read, but there was a trail for hiking that had some lovely views, and the town was close enough for a quick run, but far enough to be unobtrusive. For my husband's birthday, we enjoyed dinner at a nearby Thai restaurant.

Martha was wonderful and encouraged us to take the ferry across the lake on our way home. Great choice. We would definitely recommend this property.

Great family vacation!

  • 5 of 5
Our son was graduating from UVM and we looked for a home away to stay in with my 80+ parents and other family members. What a great choice! The cottage was clean and very handy for all of us. The king room and private bath on the main level worked very well for my parents, and the rest of us slept fine in the upper level loft. The cottage has an open, spacious layout which was great for cooking, eating, and visiting together. We enjoyed having coffee on the deck in the morning and watching the sunset at night. The location was about 30-40 minutes from Burlington, but worth the drive. St. Albans was about 15 minutes away, and it also had several good grocery stores and restaurants. There is an award-winning Thai restaurant in St. Albans across from Hanniford's grocery which has very good food, and we also enjoyed Jeffery's and the Cosmic Bakery. It was a relaxing and very enjoyable visit. The views exceeded expectations. And finally, Martha was very helpful and a great host.

Destined to Find Champ

  • 5 of 5
We cannot say enough kind words about the owners and the people in the area. We had driven through the night and were going to arrive before our check-in time. A quick conversation later and we had no issues getting in. The cabin itself is very nice. It has a screened in porch overlooking the water which was nice when the wind calmed down in the evenings and the mosquitoes were out. It also has a nice porch that overlooks the water as well. We made good use of both. We also used the provided kayak and canoe and explored the bay. We had mentioned to the owners that we had decided to stay there because we were hoping to find Champ - the local sea creature. They took time out of their day to tells us all sorts of stories and shows us different things around the lake. It was really nice of them to do so. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The kitchen was well stocked and had all the utensils and cookware we needed (regardless of what some of the locals may say, you simply cannot beat a delicious breakfast of biscuits and gravy!) The beds were comfortable and the fridge was cold. Burlington is also a quick drive away and has some breweries that were fun to visit. We would definitely come back! Thanks for making this a wonderful trip!

Private and peaceful

  • 5 of 5
This cottage is the last one in a small compound of about 15 cottages right on the lake. The water wraps around the front and side of the cottage, and the effect is like being on the bow of a boat. There is a small private "beach" with a sandy bottom. We basked in the sun in beach chairs, and watched the phenomenal sunsets in a different outdoor location each evening (there are two wooden decks as well as the screened porch and beach). The cottage is clean and the kitchen well-stocked. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. We took our boat and enjoyed exploring the lake and islands, especially breakfast on Burton Island State Park and dinner at Shore Acres on N. Hero Island. The owners are very friendly and responsive to any needs, but not intrusive. We would stay there again and not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Upstairs there are 4 twin beds. Downstairs are 2 baths. So this is good for girlfriends/guys getaway, as well as family with 4 kids.
