Perfect house to stay with kids

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here in Jan. We had a wonderful time. The house is perfect for getting away with family/ friends, pets. The location is perfect for just hanging out and enjoying the house and grounds. We did this mostly. We used the fireplaces ( indoor and outdoor), played basketball, went hiking, ice skating, played games all right from our front door. This location is especially good for smaller children. It is at the end of the road and has a small circle drive that is perfect for kids to play, bike around. It's location also makes it accessible to venturing out to sightsee. But with the beautiful views from the house why would you want to leave.

Mark and Maria were super nice and provided a well stocked house and ample info on local attractions/ restaurants. Thank you for helping us make wonderful New Year memories with our family.

My family and friends joined me for a winter getaway and we were not disappointed! This lake house has everything you need including a large dining table which we spent lots of time at playing games and enjoying conversation as the stone fireplace was crackling nearby! This house felt warm and cozy and each room was nicely decorated We enjoyed the lake view as snow was coming down and when we stepped outside we had lots of fun playing in the snow and even making our own snowman and snow angels! Thanks Maria and Mark for sharing your home with us! Great Mini Vaction!!Donna and family

Owner's Response: Thank you Donna, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We enjoy reading our guests vacation stories, especially in the winter. Enjoying a cup of hot chocolate in front of a cracking fire with your family make winter a lot more bearable. Hope to see you again. Warmest Regards Maria and Mark

Cannot recommend this property enough. We stayed with 7 people over the Christmas holiday and had a great time. The fireplace was a very nice addition, as were all of the games and amenities in the home. Looking forward to going back when its warmer, as it was too cold to take advantage of any of the benefits that the property's location on the lake afforded!

Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, wonderful and peaceful! The lake is so clean, great for swimming, kayaking and canoeing! Large private lot with a great fire pit and plenty of room to play croquet. A net is set up, but badminton & volleyball equipment was not available--so bring your own. The house is very comfortable with a fabulous screened porch and a table that looks right out into the lake. A very wonderful and relaxing vacation!

Mid-Winter Memories

  • 5 of 5

My family and I are most fortunate to have spent the long Presidents' Day weekend at this comfortable, inviting home. Happy Times indeed!

From the moment you view this private home, nestled at the end of a charming lakeside road, you are pleased. It is even better when you enter the well cared for property. There are the "creature comforts" but the home beckons you to sit and enjoy the ever- changing, wonderful lake vistas from so many seating areas!

My family and I enjoyed the wonderful dining table for enjoyable meals and many fun board games! There are many spots for family gatherings and for some quiet time, as well.

if you want to venture out, there is much to do in the neighboring towns. From shopping to snow sports, everything is just a short drive away.

The owners are most considerate and pleasant to work with.

One of our nights was quite stormy & windy and yet we felt protected and safe in this very sturdily built home!

We look forward to a return visit and we thank the Owners for allowing us to share their beautiful, lakeside retreat!

Must Read -- HomeAway User (FL, SC, GA, MA, ME)

My ideal American dream is owning a home by a lake and kicking off the shoes and taking a quick-nap on the back-porch with a book to lay-on-the-belly. I never did finish that book and I didn’t get to sit on that porch either, because we arrived to this wonderful place on Sunday, December 29th just a few short hours after a torrential snow blizzard hit. We were on route 84 in Connecticut coming up from our home on the Jersey Shore when the snow started.

Once you get inside the house, the pictures on the web site don’t give adequate homage to the well-kept appearance and decorative treatments like the Christmas tree with ornaments, lights in the windows and even wreaths outside – this place is like the Country Home magazine real charm.

More important to me is the value. There were lots of priceless moments for picture taking as the niece and nephew from Boston opened their gifts from the wife and I in front of that gorgeous stone fireplace while others gathered in the kitchen area preparing food for the bunch of us. Around in the great-room, all the young adults were leaning over the table with cards tagged to their foreheads playing that guessing game – I don’t know what it is – but they were laughing a bunch. Honestly, it’s the first time in four years I’ve seen my son, who is home from the military on leave, having so much fun hanging out with his cousins.

When it came to preparing the food, everything came out fine. It was like a prep-area in that kitchen just as stuff came off the stove it was served, and there was plenty of room for more than one chef there. All the spices we needed were there and plenty of tin-foil and plastic to keep stuff in the fridge for later. Everyone who came over for dinner on Sunday fell in love with the scenery of the snow over the frozen lake, and there was plenty of everything and something to accommodate all of us regardless of age.

After all the eating and gaming, the guys hustled for a seat on the curvy-couch and watched the Patriots against Miami – you know who won – while the ladies sat around the fireplace and talked about us “probably…” We talked a lot, me and my brother and his son and his grandson, they all have good jobs and wonderful families and we are planning some golf this summer. I did go outside with my niece and nephew a bit to check out that tire swing and we ran around the snow a little bit and did lots of laughing.

I highly recommend this experience to those like me and my family.

For Shoppers, we are close to many major shopping malls and outlets. Other cultural attractions abound such as: Sturbridge Village, local Theater groups (Gateway Players, Hanover Theater), or Higgins Armory, the only Museum in the Western Hemisphere dedicated to the collection of arms and armor ranging from ancient Greek Corinthian helmets to ornate suits of armor crafted at the height of the Renaissance.
