Central forced-air heat w/wood-burning fireplaces. Air Conditioning. Watch trains move across lake; Eagles soaring while Moose meander; beaver cross the cove. Wildlife is everywhere in all forms. Large yard for tossing the ball; badminton, fishing off the dock or on a boat, Endless wooded trails. Snowshoe, cross-country ski or test the world-class ski hills nearby. Fall colors are everywhere and as are local attractions & casinos. Lake is pure & chemical-free for safe swimming. Property is chemical free and safe for pets and everyone

Safe and Secure for Kids and Adults: This cottage has the latest in safety provisions. Smoke - Fire and Carbon Monoxide detector/alarms are in place. There is remote control for all major electrical items. There are inspected high quality fire extinguishers on site. Backup power generation - local and long distance land line service that will work even if power goes out. There are oil lamps for lighting and battery LED lamps that will run for 1 full month. All surfaces - bedding and furniture has been virtually sterilized using UV and steam..

Children and Infants: The cottage is inspected regularly.. The site has been child protected with safety latches in all dangerous locations. There are recognized safe child items for your use - booster seat - high-chair and PackNPlay Plays.. Children love the beach and the sand - but please never leave any child unsupervised.

Relax in confidence that your child will contact only sanitized-steriized items: Hi-chair - booster seat - packn'play - sand toys and all other recreational items items have been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival.

Flotation devices (both adult and infant) have been also individually sanitized for your safety. All floors, rugs, carpets & seating been virtually sterilized as has all bedding.

Entertainment: We have provided dozens of major movies - several box-sets of TV series and several music concert videos (Beatles, Eagles etc). There are also some Musicals including the complete Les Miserables 10th Anniversary DVD. There are many pop music CDs also. CDs may be played on the central system by the TV or on the portable player in the cabinet. There are Stereo headphones for more private listening of the TV or stereo. Due to the immense number of stars in this remote location - there is also a telescope behind the TV and binoculars on top of that cabinet.

    HOLIDAY AND SPECIAL SEASON RTES APPLY: Rates will vary during Holiday or during special seasonal events including: Memorial Day - Labor Day- Independance Day and certain days may have special higher rates applied. Over-Holiday rates typically are charged at a higher rate with a one-week minimum. Other charges may apply including additional cleaning, prep pr setup or similar charges. We will advise you of this when you request your dates.
  • Dogs must be pre-approved at our discretion based on discussions and information provided prior to a signed agreement. Rental rate for pre-approved dogs may vary but are nominally $25.00 per night per dog. This charge may vary. Security deposit may vary also with approved pets.

    Campers and parked guests must be associated with cottage guests and pre-approved. Charges for these pre-approved guests will be typically $25 per night per person and/or pet. Additional Security deposit may be required.

  • Bath-1 located on 1st floor with walk in shower - toilet and sink/vanity. Linens and toilet paper are supplied. Heated floor - Hair dryer provided (GFCI) - bath surfaces and floors are all disinfected ceramic tile with sterilized rugs. Soft Water provides wonderful showering, clean clothes and dinnerware. Spare items just-in-case' include toothbrushes, some medical supplies (bandages etc) and other items. All cabinet-doors containing hazardous items have child-proof latches installed. . Bath-2 located on lower level at bottom of hall stairs has a full walk in shower enclosure - heated ceramic-tile floor with warmed mats, toilet and pedestal sink. Toiletries, hair dryer and toilet paper are provided. Quality magazines with ceiling, 'reading' light situated over the toilet for that man-magazine appeal. Always nice and warm. All bathrooms are sanitized using disinfectants, UV and steam sterilization

Bill and I arrived @ Moose Bay Cottage on 9/23/12. We were so excited to be there finally! The cottage was great and The Moore's are wonderful generous people. The cottage was totally equipted with everything we needed and the view was awesome. We had a very relaxing time. It rained everyday so we just did many road trips and the scenery was breathtaking. Pictured Rocks was amazing as was Porcupine Mountains in the Western part of the UP. We cooked mostly but we did go the pub in Channing called the Aces for the Friday fish fry which was excellent, and also for breakfast at the Silver Lake Diner which was yummy. (homemade bread) . We tried our luck @ the casino in Escanaba and did well for only being there a short time. We put 2400 miles on our rental car in 8 days! Thanks again to the Moore's for opening up their cottage to us! Definitely worth the trip!

Truely our home away from home

Not even sure where to begin! Our time at the cottage exceeded our expectations. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. And the experience was one that we will not soon forget.
We fished off the pier daily, and let me tell you, the fish are biting. I don't think we had to wait more than 5 minutes to get one on the lines!
The property is massive, we had to get creative on how utilize it (we don't get that type of land in our neck of the woods). At one point we had a foot race around the yard just so the opportunity wouldn't go to waste.
We spent our nights at the fire pit near the lake, playing games and laughing, listening to the coyotes/wolves howl across the lake and staring at the stars in absolute awe (heads up- the bats are in abundance but they keep their distance and entertaining to watch!)
The kayaks and paddleboat were used daily. Though it was quite the work out for some of us, it was peaceful to be out in the middle of the calm bay.
The property is totally secluded, which was honestly the selling point for us. We did run into some of the locals at times, though, and even went into town for a fish fry. Everyone we met in this small town was nice and friendly.
We took walks in the forest surrounding the property a lot. It was amazing to explore, we felt like pioneers!!
Overall, this home and our time in Channing, MI was the perfect relaxing getaway!! We’re going to try to make it our tradition to get up there every summer!

Beautiful Cottage!

The listing and photos of Moose Bay Cottage don't do it justice. Extremely clean, well taken care of and full of those welcoming little things that make a vacation memorable. The owners of this beautiful spot have done everything to make you comfortable enough that you never need to leave the cottage to enjoy your vacation but if you do the extra information they've so kindly left is so organized that the only challenge our family had was deciding what we wanted to do! Thank you so much for an amazing family vacation- my teenage boys are already talking about when we can schedule another time to go back!
Owner's Response: WOW! I have had some positive reviews but this one is wonderful - wonderful. Thank you so much. We work very hard - right up to the last minute before our Guest Arrives (usualy witin an hour before) - tweaking, cleaning, sanitizing and making sure every detail is perfect. I don't want even a piece of lint on the floor when a Guest arrives. My goal is to provide each Guest the opportunity to stay in an just be alone - or go outside and enjoy the lake, nature, walks, biking or the abundance of activities in the Upper Peninsula. There is SO much to do up here and even after a lifre-time up here - my Guests are still surprising me with new finds for adventure and entertainment. Thank you so much for your comment - it shows me that we are doing it right. I promise to continue to maintain the Get-Away in the most pristeen and sanitary condition while providing every possible convenience. Thank you Again!

We had an excellent time fishing. My kids caught a ton of panfish, bass, and pike. We enjoyed the iron mine tour. Went swimming in Lake Superior at little presque isle beach and saw the fireworks in Marquette. We did go to the DeYoung family zoo in Wallace which was a little bit of a drive but well worth it. We also hiked along the Menominee river at Piers Gorge. If the kids were older we would have done the white water rafting.

All in all we had an excellent time. It was also the cleanest cabin we ever stayed in.

In a day and age where you never know what you are facing in motels and such - you can rest assured Moose Bay Cottage is more sanitary than almost any other site. Great get away

Wouldn't change a thing. Extremely clean, all amenities mentioned are available, nice location, gorgeous lake, and good restaurants nearby. Owners provide many nice touches throughout and make it an enjoyable stay. Lots of wildlife. Received deposit back promptly. Highly recommend. A++++
