Spending time on our farm will give you the gift of country silence that increasingly is out of reach in our noisy, fast paced over crowded world. You will hear roosters crow, donkeys bray and other typical farm sounds to delight the senses. Staying on the land provides a brief, but intimate, glimpse into the way things used to be and confirms that, somewhere in this technologically advanced world, there are simple charming and unhurried enclaves still viable. There are some of us who are still living quite well on what we cultivate from the land. In these microcosms of society you'll find counterbalance from the hectic distractions of the city to a slower quieter rhythm of country routine.
The premise of a farm stay is relatively simple: we open our farm to visitors and share with you the many facets of life off the beaten path. Seemingly a world away, yet close to San Francisco and situated in the center of the Wine country of Sonoma County.
We are a small working farm in Santa Rosa and easily accessible from all major airports in the bay area. Visitors are invited to participate in the daily chores, (this is not a requirement for your stay, simply a choice) and may rejoice in the opportunity to get in touch with nature--literally. Tasks can include the feeding of hens, and gathering of eggs, grooming the horses, barn chores such as mucking out a stall, or weeding flower and vegetable beds to name a few. If your first love is the earthly delight of soil, we have multiple gardens and orchards to tend. This is your vacation to do as you please, if Wine tasting and extraordinary meals is what you long for, Sonoma County has them in abundance.
Accommodations are simple, a lovely little cottage with a welcoming rose arbor inviting you to step into a more simple relaxed place. You can enjoy predictable comforts of a porch swing while sipping a glass of sweet tea. Sit with your morning coffee next to the well tended rose garden while hearing the buzzing bees busily gathering nectar for the hives on the farm. Relax in the delightful display of hummingbirds in our butterfly garden, all under a wide sky with long views to Taylor Mountain. A farm stay with us allows you freedom of light and space, gaining an appreciation of the value and beauty of ordinary things almost forgotten. While gliding smoothly under the willow tree your senses will delight in the animals that ramble close by. You may hear occasional quacking, honking, neighing, peeping and always the whispering of leaves beckoning you to be still.

Julie & DW Meyer purchased this studio in 1999
This is our home which includes our darling little studio that we share with others who need time to breath.
Experience the deep kind of quiet that is essential to our souls, yet rarely found. You will find it with a stay on My Little Farm.
Peaceful in the warm afternoon. Chewy is so friendly and loving! Enjoyed our stay here.
Stayed one evening here while going to a show and wish we could have stayed longer. The animals all run up to greet you and they are all so friendly as a welcome wagon. Julie and DW are very kind and showed us the place and then we had some nice peace and quiet. The room is medium-sized but well appointed. Bedding is very comfortable. There are books and menus and ideas for things to do.
I'd highly recommend over a hotel.
Arrived from Alaska to a warm greeting from Julie and beautiful, farm family of
Dogs, cats, and so much more. Quiet and serene considering the feathered friends. Met Dick, who was welcoming, and friendly. The cottage was spotless and oh so cosy. Very satisfied with my stay of one week.
Many thanks to my hosts who were available, but not intrusive.
Back in anchorage with lots of snow....ummm thinking about coming back very soon.
Here is a picture of our "little farm" in ak...and, one of "our" outdoor family. Merry Christmas folks.
we could not have been any happier with the choice we made when opting for My Little Farm for our vacation in wine country. this central locale for touring sonoma, napa and the coast was budget friendly, clean and just as described. we will not hesitate referring friends and family in the future. al already misses the cat that stood guard outside our studio door.
The location is central for Sonoma and the surrounding area. The cottage could not be locked upon leaving nor could the connecting bathroom door to the owners property be locked (upon their request and tape over the lock itself). There was a layer of dust on the headboard. No central air/cooling. The owners washing machine rocked the bed on the spin cycle and that together with the tumble dryer could clearly be heard in the cottage when in use.
We had a good time for our 3 night stay at the Little Farm. Friendly owners and animals (from cats, dogs, to horses and ducks...) and a quiet area. We really enjoyed the good wines and lovely sceneries of the Valley!
We had an absolutely fantastic time here at "My Little Farm Country Cottage"! The hosts were very friendly and we felt instantly welcomed. This is such an incredible charming little farm! All the animals were very sweet from the dogs and cats, to the little goats. The alpacas/llamas(?) were also very cute.
The bed was very comfortable and the amenities provided the perfect opportunity to have a place to rest after a great day of exploring the coast, wine tasting, or hiking in Armstrong Redwoods.
While I was there to run the Santa Rosa Marathon, I did not get too much an opportunity to get to do many of the fun things on the farm. I did enjoy "feeding" the goats. Serra had an absolute ball with the dogs and sweet kitties. I definitely will partake in Meyer's offer to do some "chores" on the farm next time.
We also had a bit of a bonding moment when the earthquake in Napa hit Sunday morning at 3:20 AM. We ran outside and Julie and Dick were out there, too. All was well, we marveled at nature, and then we went to starting our day as the earthquake ended up being our "wake-up" call for the marathon.
The pool is wonderful and a dip in the spa, right next to the front door of the cabin, is an awesome way to end the day - no matter the adventure! As we drove away with a box stuffed full of tasty vegetables from the farm, we said to each other, "We will definitely come back!"
We offer a farm stay experience. This is a working farm. If you catch us at Egg Gathering time you are welcome to join. Petting all manner of both farm and domestic animals is always a enjoyable experience.
We offer a peaceful haven away from the hustle of city life. Relax, refresh and unwind on our farm.
