Spending time on our farm will give you the gift of country silence that increasingly is out of reach in our noisy, fast paced over crowded world. You will hear roosters crow, donkeys bray and other typical farm sounds to delight the senses. Staying on the land provides a brief, but intimate, glimpse into the way things used to be and confirms that, somewhere in this technologically advanced world, there are simple charming and unhurried enclaves still viable. There are some of us who are still living quite well on what we cultivate from the land. In these microcosms of society you'll find counterbalance from the hectic distractions of the city to a slower quieter rhythm of country routine.
The premise of a farm stay is relatively simple: we open our farm to visitors and share with you the many facets of life off the beaten path. Seemingly a world away, yet close to San Francisco and situated in the center of the Wine country of Sonoma County.
We are a small working farm in Santa Rosa and easily accessible from all major airports in the bay area. If your first love is the earthly delight of soil, we have multiple gardens and orchards. Do you love animals? There are a plethora awaiting you in the barn yard. Is it Wine tasting and extraordinary meals calling you? Sonoma County has them in abundance.
Accommodations are simple, a lovely little cottage with a welcoming rose arbor inviting you to step into a more simple relaxed place. You can enjoy predictable comforts of a porch swing while sipping a glass wine. Sit with your morning coffee next to the well tended rose garden while hearing the buzzing bees busily gathering nectar for the hives on the farm. Relax in the delightful display of hummingbirds in our butterfly garden, all under a wide sky with long views to Taylor Mountain. A farm stay with us allows you freedom of light and space, gaining an appreciation of the value and beauty of ordinary things almost forgotten. While gliding smoothly under the willow tree your senses will delight in the animals that ramble close by. You may hear occasional quacking, honking, neighing, peeping and always the whispering of leaves beckoning you to be still.

Julie and Farmer D out in the hayfield with their two dogs, Camrey and Rhianna.
Julie & DW Meyer purchased this studio in 1999
This is our home which includes our darling little studio that we share with others who need time to breath.
Experience the deep kind of quiet that is essential to our souls, yet rarely found. You will find it with a stay on My Little Farm.
Peaceful in the warm afternoon. Chewy is so friendly and loving! Enjoyed our stay here.
We (mom and teen daughter) enjoyed this beautiful area of the country and the charming Little Farm, with a wonderful cast of friendly critters. Julie made us feel welcome and respected our privacy as well. Highly recommend.
I stayed two nights here while geocaching around Sonoma County. It was very peaceful and all the animals were so sweet and friendly! It would be a great place to introduce kids to a variety of animals! There were several peacocks and guineas, a dozen ducks and as many chickens, and three burros, three llamas, and a few cats and dogs. The real treat was Chewie, the huge blond dog who clearly runs the place. He greets you as you enter, walks you to your cottage, and appears when you emerge in the morning to make sure you had a good night. (Julie and DW are equally friendly and accommodating, but Chewie's the star!)
There are two rental buildings on this four acre farm, plus the owners' house and a bunch of outbuildings. The studio is tiny; the main room is 15' X 17', and the bathroom is maybe 20 square feet. The main room has a huge comfortable bed and a futon couch, an armoire which holds a microwave, toaster, and other supplies, a small round table with two wicker chairs, and a tall dresser. Clothes go in the dresser or are hung up on a short pole laid across the top of the armoire. There's no TV, and the WIFI connection is slow and keeps resetting, so you can't really watch anything on your own devices, or get any online work done. It's strictly a place to sleep, read, and visit animals, but very pleasant for that. The bathroom has a small refrigerator in it, and a shower and sink and toilet; I'd tile the floor, and maybe make the shower of glass brick, as an upgrade. Tons of wonderful towels are provided, and a small supply of basic foods and condiments. A welcome bottle of local wine is on the table to greet you.
The room could use a coffee table before the futon couch, as there's no place to spread out papers or food, but I can see that a table like that would be in the way if the futon were opened up for children. On the other hand, it would take a very cozy family to occupy such a small space easily...
The other rental building abuts the cottage to the East, and is a one-bedroom with a large deck. The studio has no real views or deck. There is a large fenced and covered pool between the cottage and the main house, and a hot tub just outside the cottage door.
My two small dogs were welcome and not charged extra, a real find in a VRBO rental, for which I was grateful! They had to be on leash when outside, so they wouldn't bother the other animals, but that was fine. All in all, a great place to base in Sonoma County!
If you are an animal lover, this place is for you. It is a farm, but more like a petting zoo. Julie and her husband are very welcoming. They were very nice and very approachable. They also gave us plenty of privacy.
Regarding the place, it is a wonderful countryside getway, with a mountain view. The room is spacious, and they do offer amenities like coffees, kitchenware etc... Would love to come back here again with friends and family. However, with a big group, a kitchen would be a plus for some home cook food.
Enjoyed our stay at My Little Farm very much. Dick and Julie were very warm and welcoming when we arrived. The studio was very clean, nicely decorated and we were snug in the bed with a heated blanket. It was delightful to wake up to a lovely spring day on the little farm. All the animals were friendly and we loved how the donkeys nuzzled up to us on our walk. Our stay was too short but hope to return whenever we visit the Santa Rosa area.
Stayed one evening here while going to a show and wish we could have stayed longer. The animals all run up to greet you and they are all so friendly as a welcome wagon. Julie and DW are very kind and showed us the place and then we had some nice peace and quiet. The room is medium-sized but well appointed. Bedding is very comfortable. There are books and menus and ideas for things to do.
I'd highly recommend over a hotel.
Arrived from Alaska to a warm greeting from Julie and beautiful, farm family of
Dogs, cats, and so much more. Quiet and serene considering the feathered friends. Met Dick, who was welcoming, and friendly. The cottage was spotless and oh so cosy. Very satisfied with my stay of one week.
Many thanks to my hosts who were available, but not intrusive.
Back in anchorage with lots of snow....ummm thinking about coming back very soon.
