Dave and Therese Hoffman have owned and operated Cottages at the Water's Edge since 1985 and recently converted this home to a rental.
This home has a story! The Main House was a barn in the late 1800's. The farmhouse was moved down the road and the barn was converted to a house. During the depression, new owners opened a store in this house which was also one of the stops for the Lake Erie Electric Train that ran from Cleveland to Cedar Point to Toledo and other places. The owners, during the depression. served food from the store to the locals, as well as, homeless travelers along Lake Rd. or Rte. 6 today. The father of the family built the first cottage in the backyard by the lake for his daughter but she never used it as it quickly became a rental to earn more income. He built several more cottages over the years before they sold the property. The current owner's grandmother operated the business including the store from 1953 to 1963 and added an additional cottage. Another family member owned it from 1963 to 1985 but the store in this house was no longer in operation. It became the home of the owners and their office for the cottage business. The current owners have just converted it to a rental after living there for 30 years.
Lakefront with beach access is the main drawing factor plus close proximity to Cedar Point and other venues.
