We were very happy with the house, the rooms and the way we could relax. We arrived late at night but knew exactly how to get in and it was a pleasant place to arrive at. The deck was nice, the living room, dining room, kitchen were just the right size for our group. We used the fire pit twice, and even in the rain the kids had fun running around outside. We visited friends the first day, went to Sleeping Bear Dunes on Sunday, and Petosky on Monday. We had beautiful weather as we worked around the rain. Enjoyed using the pool at the Hotel and we used the Private Beach Club as well. It was very enjoyable and we would recommend this to anyone.
My wife and I are from Las Vegas but our grown children and grandchildren live in the Detroit Area. So we decided to rent a place in Northern Michigan closer to our kids homes. We fly in and rented a mini van and drove a few hundred miles up North. We arrive to a wonderful home away from home. It slept all 12 of us with ease and a little space left for a couple more small ones. There was 4 small grand kids and 8 adult. We swam and traveled all over the area. The weather was perfect all 9 days which is amazing for any where in Michigan. The landlords were wonderful in contacting us and making us feel at home. Thank you very much for making our stay truly amazing and memories that will last us all the rest of our lives. That is what family and vacations are all about. Thanks again. Rated 5 stars!!!!!! Place was clean and well stocked. A little dated but that is what gave it, its charm. Easy to get to and close to stores. Highly Recommended....
We had a wounderful time there. There was plenty of room and the weather was great. There were hardly any bugs in the evening. Everything was close. Will do it again in the near future.
We did our girls week here. Accomadations are great for 10 people. Lots of room to spread out. The house sets in the woods where deer came into the back yard.A fully equipped kitchen which was nice, because we cooked most of our meals. The decor is a little out dated and the furniture is mixed match, but hey it's a lived in cottage. The Shanty Creek Resort is beautiful, none of us are golfers but if you are it would be a beautiful place to golf. All the staff is very friendly. We visited the resorts lodge, restraunt/lounge area, where there was a beautiful dining area with great views and live music in the evenings, all within walking distance of the cottage. We didn't use the pools but they looked very nice. We did a lot of walking and sight seeing. Took the shuttle into Bellaire and shoped the little shops, We visited Torch Lake, Boyne City, and Petoskey, they are only minutes away.
We had a few small issues that we brought to the owners attention and the owner took care of them immediately. She is very easy to work with. We had 4 great days of All GIRLS time together.
This is a great place to stay and was perfect for our 2 families (4 adults, 5 children ages 12 & under). It was nice to have the 2 levels both with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom each, which gave each family some privacy, yet could gather together in several areas (living room, family room, dining room, deck). The extra frig came in handy too, which was in the laundry room downstairs. We were only here for weekend, so didn't need the laundry room, but would be nice for a weeklong stay. The other comments are true but the owners must have addressed the negatives - as there were none (there was a grill, dvd player and no dog hair). Very Clean! Note that when you enter, you are entering in the lower level, which does not have the kitchen. That was not a problem at all for us, but we just thought we'd walk into the kitchen level. Very quiet area but close to everything. Shanty/Schuss has everything you'd want in a vacation - ski, golf, pools, hiking, restaurants, close enough to Traverse or Torch Lake. We definitely recommend this home and this resort! Thank you!
We had a great time. It's clean and well located for skiing at Shanty Creek. Though we drove to the slopes, there is a shuttle that runs near by. Owner was very communicative and helpful. I'd stay here again.
