We rented this home on short notice in summer 2010, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. The owners are very friendly, honest, and easy to deal with. They have owned the home for decades, and use it themselves most of the time, so it is very well kept. The bedrooms are large and have incredible views of Crooked Lake. The front room has a huge window overlooking the backyard and the lake. The yard itself is very private (surrounded by hedges) and beautiful, with plenty of room for the kids to play. It also has a large bonfire pit 5 feet from the shoreline. The water is shallow for about 100 feet out from the dock, and it is a mostly sandy bottom. You can fish right off the dock. The home is also very close to two marinas (one of them is only 7/10 of a mile, and is accesible by a lakefront sidewalk). Petoskey is an easy 7-8 minute drive, and Mackinaw City is an 30 minute shot right up Rt 31 from here. If you like to run or walk, this location is outstanding. The sidewalk that runs right in front of this home, extends for about 1 mile right along the shoreline!. In addition, there is an old abandoned rail line about 200 yards away that has been transformed into a hiking path through the woods, running for many miles in both directions. We have been vacationing on Crooked Lake since the 70's, and I would recommend this home to anyone. This home is ideal for sharing between two families. If you get the opportunity to stay here on vacation, jump all over it!
