Great Family Vacation House

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at the house on Long Lake. The house is a ranch style cottage on the lake just steps to the water. I house was built in the 1930/40s and has been updated along the way. Everything was clean, organized, and in working order. The owners and local families made us feel welcome and ensured we had a nice time.
The kitchen is huge and equipped with everything you need - just bring your own food. The house is charming, well kept, and quiet. 3 Bedrooms - Master with a queen bed TV and DVD player, 2 other bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each. Pillows, sheets, blankets are all included. Large living room and another large den with TV DVD/VCR had a pull out coach that we didn't need. The front porch is the best feature of the house as it has a great view of the water. We found ourselves reading, hanging out and eating dinner out there while we watched the sunset.
Long Lake is beautiful and we all enjoyed swimming, fishing, and boating. The water is clear and warm with lot of shells for the kids to collect. The house is on a large sandy beach so the kids had plenty to do. Bring sand toys for the kids. You don't need chairs. You can bring a boat or rent one. We rented a pontoon boat for a day which worked out great.
We loved the location too as the house gives you the feeling of being in an isolated remote spot, while we were only 10 minutes to the edge of Travers City and major grocery stores, restaurants, the mall etc. There are a few local stores within minutes of the house and a locally famous ice cream spot, Moomers just minutes away.
Our wireless phone and data service worked great (AT&T). Verizon Data card worked on the porch.
The washer/dryer are in small building next to the main house and are shared by the two families on either side. Not a big deal. Everyone was very nice. We also used the charcoal grill and fire pit.
The only down side to the place is there is no A/C. Most nights you really don’t need it as it cooled off into the 60s but if you want A/C, they don't have it. Also, the master bedroom bath does not have a shower so we used the other full bath for showers. Again, not a big deal.
I would recommend this place to others and I have already considered going back next year.
