Three families of 50 to 70-something folks landed here with fly rods (the gents!) and books and fixin's for a turkey dinner! Oh yes, some Rye Whiskey, a little champagne and high hopes... and we were NOT disappointed. The cabin is clean and comfortable, and the water access for fly fishing Cutties, Nooks and Silvers was private and lovely. We have already re-booked for next year, same time! Plan to eat in, however, as the restaurant choices nearby were slim and disappointing. Who cares...-it's all about home cooking!! Loved the outdoor fire pit!
We chose this as our place to stay to give us the ideal location for going to the different Olympic National Park areas. I can't say enough positive about Mechelle the owner as far as answering questions and being available for them. The cabin was stocked for cooking all our meals and everything worked well. The beds were very comfortable which was welcome after all the miles of hiking we did during the days. The area was fun in the Twilight themed things around town and made you feel apart of the setting in the story with all the beautiful landscapes and beaches that were so close. We were lucky in our timing of being able to pick wild blackberries right on the side of the road. We hope to come back one day and see the other trails in the park we didn't get to this time.
While staying at The Wolf Den, I just kept thinking how awesome this place would be for a family get together. The upstairs would be such a fun slumber party for the kids. I picture Aunts fixing food in the kitchen, kids exploring the grounds. Nothing prissy or Yuppie about it either. Its nice yet you feel you can put your feet up. There is a awesome huge rope swing that my boyfriend (who weighs 280) "stress tested" & it did fine! Mechelle has thought of everything & close if you need help or ideas. Forks is a plethora of outdoor activity even if you aren't a Twilight Fan! I enjoyed the jetted tub & slept well. Take your badmitton equip. & book the family!
My husband and i always have such a wonderful time at this cabin! It's such a quaint peaceful getaway from The Seattle side of things!
Located about 10-15 minute car ride away from Forks and only a 5 minute drive from Third Beach, my favorite beach to hike to and a refuge of mine. Also not far away is the native village of La Push and Mora beach and camp ground! This is truly a breathtaking place to visit, as long as you don't mind rain on occasion. We had great weather and the owner Mechelle is so kind and accommodating! They have an actual camp ground that is literally ultimate camping on their other property as well that we toured.
As for the cabin, lots of great movies to cuddle next to the fireplace and watch with the hubby (which we didn't have any problems watching even if they are well used). A fireplace inside and firewood provided for you (can't get easier than that). A fireput with seating outside near a barn with a beautiful horse and Pygmy horse frollicking in a fenced area behind it! A short exciting walk to the river on a marked trail, just got to be curious like me to find it ;)
The cabin itself is huge with two stories, 4 twins upstairs and two queens downstairs, beds comfy, pillows could use updating which is already being taken care of as I mentioned this to the owner, (have I mentioned she's amazing?!)
Kitchen is nice and big, had all the appliances we needed and a selection of spices as well. Nice kitchen table, hot tub for relaxing after a day of hiking! Everything was very very clean and exceeded my expectations. Love the handmade soaps and chapsticks provided too, my skin was silky smooth and my pregnant belly couldn't have been happier!
This would be a fun getaway for girlfriends, guy friends looking for an outdoorsy weekend, also families looking for adventure or a very comfortable camping experience minus the tents and sleeping bags and bugs!
Thank you for the lovely stay! We will be back again later this summer!
We aren't sure where your other reviewers where staying, but it couldn't have been the Wolf Den. The only reason for one star is the fact that we had a roof over our head and running water. None of the descriptions were accurate. We had to call my parents and tell them not to come because the house didn't sleep the number of people advertised. The furniture was old, the house was dirty, the towels were torn, the kitchen was lacking the basics. There was a dilapidated single wide trailer behind the house. The deck was covered with dead plants and was too unsafe to let the kids on. Yes, the eggs were farm fresh as they still had chicken poo on them. No homemade Eco anything to be found. We had to ask for the owner to bring enough dishes for the 6 of us to be able to eat more than one meal per day without running the dishwasher after every meal. Almost none of the DVDs were scratch free and we actually had to rent Twilight because the movie wasn't in the case. There was no fishing that we could find on the property. We looked long and hard for a pond and couldn't find it. To top it all off, both of our vehicles were broken into our last night and we had a bike and DVD player stolen.
This rental was a huge disappointment. I worked an extra 40 hours at my job to pay for the $300/ night fee for one week. Not a lot of truth in advertising for this home.
Wonderful time with our family from the east coast along. Mechelle (owner) was very kind and accommodating. This home has a wonderful layout for couples with children or 8 adults traveling together. It's set in a quiet rural park-like property. During clear nights a fire pit gathering place is there for enjoyment and also there is full BBQ set up on the deck. The interior is charming, comfortable, and very nicely kept. It's perfectly situated for the "best of the Olympic Peninsula" vacation. Close to the rain forest, the best beaches, fishing towns, and the Hoh Rain Forest. It helped make our trip perfect! We highly recommend the Wolf's Den! P.S. they have stocked the home with the best hand made soaps I have ever used! We highly recommend this home and will be return customers. Camille in Olympia, Wa.
