About Suzann Pilot

We take pride in our lovely homes. We have three homes on our 25 acres that we have carefully built and kept private from each other, while taking advantage of the gorgeous nature all around. The Olympic Peninsula is such a joy to experience and we love to help people have the best experience possible. The Pond Cottage is our latest addition and although it is our smallest home, it has every charming amenity; tasteful rustic design, fine comfortable beds and a full quality kitchen. We have had delight in learning that everyone who stays there loves the Pond Cottage and we have had many happy guests.

Suzann Pilot purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Suzann Pilot chose Port Angeles

There will be no question why we bought this property when you see our place--it's spectacular. The Olympic Mountains , our ponds with beautiful natural meadows all around and yet really easy access to the two major towns in the area. We didn't need to be isolated in the National Park and have to drive a long way for groceries. We have the environment that is so precious in the Olympic Peninsula without the isolation.

What makes this cottage unique

A peaceful, private place to come home and relax after a day enjoying the multitude of adventures and wonders that the Olympic Peninsula. This northern-most section of the United States has more diversity than anywhere else in the nation and its all a short drive from here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We saw the Pond Cottage just as it was finished and we are definitely coming back to stay. These owners have built another quintessential Northwest home. We have stayed in their other homes and they pay such attention to detail.

Hurricane Ridge hideaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a belated Valentine weekend. It was perfect. The cabin is secluded and surrounded by natural beauty. I loved the style of the cabin, the wood stove, and the cleanliness. We were minutes away from Hurricane Ridge national park and downtown Port Angeles. I would definitely stay here again.

Seriously, My Favorite

  • 5 of 5

This is actually the second time me and my girlfriend have been here in as many years. After our first trip, we both agreed we had planned to spend more time just at the cabin instead of hiking and in Port Angeles (which were also amazing in their own right). So this visit, we purposely spent a good portion of our time together at the cabin, reading, napping, strolling by the pond. Seriously, I want to live there.

Absolutely Lovely

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin. It was exactly what we were looking for: cozy, quiet and private. It was nice and close (10 minute drive) to Port Angles and the Olympic National Park. We would stay here again anytime!

Could not have been better!

  • 5 of 5

After having stayed at several rental by owner properties, this was by far the best experience we have had. Suzann was very easy to deal with and provided us with more than enough information from directions to get there, what to do in the area, and how to use the cottage easily. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, the cottage was meticulously clean, and we had absolute privacy. Waking up to a misty pond surrounded by nature and watching the ducks float by while drinking coffee was something I could do every day! From the cottage we were able to get to hurricane ridge in no time, and it was also a great location to hop on the ferry for our day trip to Victoria and our visit to cute Sequim. Between my husband, myself, and our two small children we tried out all the sleeping arrangements and all were very comfortable- even the window seat/bed was super comfy. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful, peaceful, comfortable retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Pond Cottage could not have been more comfortable or beautiful! This was our last stop on a two week tour of the Northwest. As travel-weary as we were, how refreshing to step in the door of this peaceful little retreat. The home is set in a picturesque meadow surrounded by trees, and the home design -- with LOTS of windows and a wrap-around porch -- allows you to enjoy the beauty indoors and out. We appreciated the well-organized, fully equipped kitchen; the comfortable beds in the loft and downstairs; and a bathroom much more spacious than we expected in such a cozy cottage. It was a great place to enjoy the long, bright evening of the summer solstice. Suzann was a wonderful host; she always responded promptly to our questions, and she even left a plate of delicious brownies for our arrival. We would definitely choose the Pond Cottage again if we traveled back to the Olympic Peninsula.

Perfect romantic cottage

  • 5 of 5

The 6 nights we stayed here will b one of the best memories that I will cherish forever . The cottage was beautiful inside , furnished to a very high standard and everything you could want . Home made biscuits and decent tea bags which are hard to find over there sometimes !! I rarely used the oven but when I did I loved it ! And want one ! lol

It was cosy romantic and private . I loved sitting on the rocking chair listening to the frogs chorus at night . The ladder upstairs pleased the boyfriend as it prevented one having too many wines ! The cottage is in a perfect area . Suzanne was only an email away but gave us the privacy we wanted . The chocolate brownies left for us were lovely and a very thoughtful touch :) we hope to return as this is a yearly destination for us ! Thank you so much Suzanne !

Notes:
This tastefully designed northwest-themed cottage has become the 'honeymoon cottage'. So private and romantic, it has provided a honeymoon setting for over 14 couples (as of 2013). Most of the couples enjoyed it so much they have returned for a 1st anniversary celebration. An author stayed long enough to finish a novel he had been working on and five seniors even found they could share the space comfortably. It should be noted that the photos look like it is very isolated. The Cottage is private yet completely secure and surrounded by friendly neighbors that are out of view.
