BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN HOME BORDERING NATIONAL FOREST

Boulder Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

Note: Please see below for general rates!

The unique aspect of this chalet style mountain home is its beautiful serene and scenic location.

The choice is yours whether you prefer to simply relax without a care in the natural quietude under the Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains, or engage in the numerous mountain activities at your doorstep. The right combination of both is waiting for you.

Sip your favorite refreshment in the large hot tub, while enjoying the mountain views all around you. A baby grand, drums and guitar are included for the musically inclined. A large fireplace will keep you toasty in the winter, and a large ceiling fan and gentle mountain breezes will keep you comfortable in the summer. There is no need for superficial air conditioning since mother nature provides it all.

While the city of Boulder is accessible in twenty minutes for the normal amenities such as dining, theater, music, sightseeing, and shopping, - - - the town of Nederland is only ten minutes away for satisfying basic needs. Sugarloaf Mountain Rd, which will bring you to the house, is maintained year round for safe access and driving. (By the way, the route that Mapquest usually designates for you is actually twice as long as the local route.) Directions for the local route are included in the Registration materials you will receive.

Ski resorts are within ten to ninety minutes away. Mountain Lakes, fishing, hunting and camping are just minutes away. Be it summer or winter activities, this site offers it all.

Small special occasion 'events' like birthday parties, showers, weddings may be held here with the owners approval only. Contact owner for rates and info.

A Colorado native, I've lived in all parts of the state. I know what I love about Colorado and I spent years searching for the location that has it all. Well, when I found this home, I spent one hour without saying a word looking it over, then when the owner said 'What do you think?', I said 'Sold.' And I've been sold on it ever since. I actually get excited with the thought of vacation renters enjoying my place. (No, I do not stay here when it is rented to you.) I love sharing the specialness of my home. Everything special about Colorado is within immediate reach from this location. The dramatic and rugged wilderness of the Continental Divide, to the cultured sophisticated amenities of the City of Boulder. Anything you're in the mood for is only minutes away.

Claude 'Larry' Fox purchased this chalet in 2002

As I said in my profile, I bought this home because in itself and in its surroundings, it constitutes the best of Colorado. This is my home and not merely a 'rental', but of course I do not stay here when I rent it out to you..

In the summer I love the balmy gentle warm breezes so much that I never want to go to bed.

In the winter the snow is beautiful and the elk herd that surrounds the house is a real treat to see.

WONDERFUL ESCAPE!

  • 5 of 5
We had a group of eight, and we enjoyed every minute! Larry (The owner) left goodies, and cute notes around the house! The fireplace, hot tub, piano and drum set made for many memorable moments! Then, you are only 25 minutes or so from downtown Boulder! There was plenty of space for everyone, and the loft and treehouse made us all feel like kids again! The view from the HUGE deck is amazing! Don't miss out on this opportunity if you like adventure! (You may hear wolves/coyotes at night and possibly see bears or more!) We can't wait to go back again!!!! Thank you so much Larry!

We had a great family vacation. We enjoyed your cabin and bushwacking in the forest. Nice meeting you and Jordan. Thanks for everything, the cabin was very nice and it was in a nice quiet location.

NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED

  • 2 of 5
This property is high and remote ... a plus for some, but also difficult to get to And: the windows do not lock, the blinds or drapes do not cover the windows and we did not feel secure. This house has 3 bedrooms and a loft but only 1.5 baths ... NOT 2 as expected. There is much deferred maintenance and the beds are old and worn. We were very disappointed the owner had personal items throughout and it felt more like he had just left for the weekend than a VRBO house ... Including food in the fridge, personal hygiene items in the bathroom, clothes in the closets and more. This was not our usual VRBO experience by any means. This really is not a rental ready property

Owner's Response: I always feel badly if a person does not appreciate my home and the effort I take to make it nice for them. As described, it is not an empty commercial rental unit. It is my home. Although not needed, locks are provided for all windows and two of the four beds are expensive state of the art beds. I welcome all questions one may have when inquiring about my place. It's of course important to read the entire VRBO information. Just call if you wish to ask specific questions. Thank you.

GREAT MOUNTAIN STAY!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here on a recent visit to the University in Boulder. Larry could not have been more accommodating or helpful. We enjoyed the escape from the city and the serenity of the hot tub and fireplace very much. I would recommend this beautiful home to any group traveling to the area, from a couple to an entire family.

MOUNTAIN CABIN GREAT FOR FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 4 children and 7 adults rented the cabin over Momorial Day Weekend. The view is amazing, and you feel like you are very secluded, yet I'm sure there are people around somewhere. The hot tub is very big, I think it holds 8 people, or 4 very busy small kids who used it as a swimming pool. If we would have stayed at a hotel, they could not have gone swimming because it was too cold that weekend. But the hot tub was wonderful for the whole family. None of us are musically inclined, so we didn't take advantage of the beautiful baby grand piano, or other instruments. But the fireplace was wonderful!!!! It takes up almost an entire wall of the livingroom! The loft upstairs is great. There are two double beds up there and is actually room for 2 more. A great place to keep kids entertained. The back bedrooms are a bit dated and don't reflect the front of the cabin's ambiance, but you are only there to sleep anyway. Note: the description says 2 bathrooms, and there are, but there is only 1 tub/shower. We had 11 people staying there and were able to make it work since we had 4 children with us.But might have to be creative with shower scheduling if more adults are renting. However, don't let that fact distract you from the wonderful experience you can have while staying up in the mountains, with only a 25 min. drive into Boulder. We want to rent it again and bring others of our family to enjoy it. We are a bit jealous that Larry gets to enjoy this year round. He is a great host, and leaves a fruit basket for you complete with a bottle of wine! Thanks Larry - Hope to contact you again in the future to stay at your wonderful mountain cabin. Wyoming Family

BACK TO NATURE IN THE ROCKIES!

  • 5 of 5
Fabulous chalet up in the mountains, less than a half-hour's drive out of Boulder. No immediate neighbors, so you get a real sense of isolation and peace & quiet. The living room with big fireplace, assortment of musical instruments, and nice-sized deck with an outdoor hot tub, all helped to make this place special & unique, especially for a city-livin' couple from Texas like ourselves. If you're looking for some serious R&R and getting back to nature, without going too far out into the boonies, this is the place for you!

Cross Country skiing and Snow-shoe hiking can be done out of the house on National Forest Land where there are old mining and logging roads which provide a good path for these activities. The caretaker, Spencer, is a professional fly fisherman and can advise you and/or book you for guided fly fishing. A trip down Boulder Canyon is a worthwhile and scenic ride. There are brooks, rivers and lakes in the area.
