House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 3 Baths (Sleeps 8)

This spacious mountain home has the 'feel' of a cabin, the 'comfort' of a home, and the 'affordability' of a local motel. We want to let you know everything available to you this summer (see below). We are new to the business of renting out our treasured home and we would very much like to share the benefits of building a 'returning guest' list. In order to do that, we price our home low, while offering all the pleasures our guests might anticipate.

Our greatest feature, however, is our location. Although we are located just minutes from Snow Summit, the Village and the lake, we are just outside the 'busy' city, up the hill about 1/4 mile, on a dead end street which affords less traffic, and an elevated view. Adjacent to the end of the street, begins a series of hiking trails maintained by the San Bernardino National Forest.

Imagine entering the 'cabin-like' living room and dining room, then walking through the well-stocked kitchen with an island and breakfast bar, past the stairs leading up to the second level bedrooms, bath and balcony, then entering the master bedroom, complete with king sized bed, wood burning fireplace, large closet space and master bath on the right. Through the sliding glass doors, you see a balcony with an inviting view that can be seen while lounging in the spa, or just sitting around the natural gas BBQ.

Our winter guests will enjoy the convenience of a natural gas heating system, fireplaces in two of the bedrooms, and a pot-bellied stove in the living room. We have a mud room/laundry room with a deep utility sink that you’ll find very useful. The large, two-car garage comes in very handy during snow conditions.

Big Bear averages about five or six good snowfalls a year, and the nearby Ski Slopes manage to keep open between snowfalls. But in case you’re not overjoyed about putting on snow chains, you’ll find that there are many days where the roads are open to all vehicles. So why not take the kids for a two-night stay. After a good snowfall, kids will enjoy great sledding right in our neighborhood.

About Mellody

Scot and I both grew up in Southern California. We remember taking advantage of the local skiing in Big Bear during the winter and attending YMCA camp during the summer.

Mellody purchased this house in 2007
Why Mellody chose Big Bear Lake

Scot's parents, Bruce & Mellody Anderson offered us a joint investment in a cabin located nicely for potential renters. In addition to being just minutes from all that Big Bear has to offer, the structure sits on a hill with views extending for miles. We are also towards the top of a dead-end street, so there is very little traffic and a sense of privacy.

What makes this house unique

Close to the Lake. Close to Snow Summit Mountain Ski resort. Close to the village. Close to Hiking Trails in the San Bernardino National Park adjacent to our street. Close to stores and restaurants.

As you can see on the map, we are on a dead-end street which keeps traffic down. We are close (200 yards) to the 'Town Trail' maintained by the San Bernardino National Park if you are interested in a little hiking. Just down the hill from us about 1/4 mile is Big Bear Blvd which is the main road from the Village to the Ski Slopes and Downtown shops and grocery stores. Our home has the 'feel' of a mountain cabin because when you're on one of our two balconies, you don't even realize that there are neighbors. You're not down in a 'neighborhood' that probably looks similar to the place at home where you're trying to 'get-a-way' from. What can I say? You'll love it!

We had problems with the water heater and the owner was sick but she had it fixed right away. Thanks Mellody! Large rooms with king-size beds. Kitchen was well stocked. Lots of board games for kids and my son enjoyed the jacuzzi right outside the master's bedroom. It was just 1mile away from Snow Summit and it was perfect for my snowboarding kids. We'll be back soon...Jackie

Spacious and beautiful... A must rent property!!!

My sisters and I chose this cabin for a girls getaway with our mother, and we couldn't have asked for anything better. Our first observation was that the cabin was exceptionally clean and well maintained. After settling in and roaming about, we found that everything we could possibly ask for was already there, right down to soap in the bathrooms and clean, fresh towels to use at the jacuzzi (which was also very clean and ready for use). The cabin was perfect for our mother, who is unable to climb stairs, with all the necessities on the first level. The view from both balconies was breathtaking, and just sitting and watching the squirrels and birds was a treat for all of us. The birds (we think they were Stellar Jays) would entertain us in exchange for peanuts which were on hand in the cabin. Melody is truly a wonderful person, and treated us as if we were family. Her concern for ensuring our stay was as pleasant and carefree as possible was obvious from her help with the reservation and booking process through our departure. She went above and well beyond our expectations in every way. My sisters and I are already planning our next trip with our families, and we will definitely be renting this property again. Our search for a great cabin in Big Bear is over, we have certainly found the place for us on all future trips.

Great Birthday Get-Away!!

What a great stay we had in Big Bear! Mellody made our rental experience seamless. This home is comfortable,cozy & stylish. Fully equipped kitchen, clean throughout, and tons of games & movies to watch. Loved the pool table & dart board in the garage! Television in living room and master are newer styles. And the fireplaces in the bedrooms are a very nice feature. Washer & dryer came in handy too. The home is located just past the Village with everything near and convenient, yet when you drive up the road it feels like your miles away from town. The wrap around deck and outdoor hot tub are great. Hot tub was great after a full day of snow play. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon, but definitely next winter. Thank you Mellody!
