With Tennessee to the North and West and Georgia to the South, Cherokee County, NC is the westernmost county in the State of North Carolina. Surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest, Murphy remains a popular Summer and Autumn vacation destination. Located at the intersection of four US Highways and three rivers, the county seat of Murphy continues to have all the charm of a small Southern town. Because a large amount of land within the area is part of the National Forest or held in trust by the US Government for the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indian Nation, the unspoiled wildnerness surrounds you wherever you go. Murphy and the surrounding communities offer a wide variety of relaxing nature-oriented activities along with popular attractions for the whole family to enjoy and all within driving distances.
