About The Owner

Vermont has always been my favorite place to visit. I fell in love all over again with the changes of the season. My wife and I even got married by walking from our home to the end of Camp Kill Kare. This area is truly a treasure.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006
Why The Owner chose St Albans

For 3 generations our family has enjoyed spending the summer on St. Albans Bay. My wife and I, along with my sister and her husband, jumped at the chance to buy a home right across the street from our Nana and down the street from our Dad. Hathaway Point holds many fond memories of fishing, sailing, swimming, kick the can, and spending time with family.

What makes this house unique

Our house is just down the road from Kill Kare State Park. Amenities include: restrooms, picnic tables, picnic shelter, parking, swimming, and nature trails. From Kill Kare you can catch a ride on the Burton Island Ferry to Burton Island, Woods Island, or Butler Island.

There is no picture that could sum up the beauty of this place. The house was charming, the views were amazing, the lake was spectacular! Warren is a gracious host, along with other family members that are lucky enough to live here year round. Cannot wait to go back next year and experience this beauty once again!

The rental property was perfect for what we were looking for. It was a clean and comfortable place to stay while I was visiting for a familiy wedding. Warren was very accomodating and very attentive to our needs. With a few upgrades this place has potential to be an excellent vacation rental for any family.

When we arrived the house was spotless. Lovely flowers were placed throughout. The owner, Warren, met us when we arrived. Warren was a big help during the week when a family crisis arouse. He was truly responsive, helpful and kind.
The house was fabulous! The master bedroom mattress was very comfortable. The views of the lake were spectacular. I loved the location. We felt secluded yet were close to grocery stores and Burlington.
Thanks so much, Warren.

Wonderful honeymoon spot for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts

The description and photos did not do the house justice! Located right across the water with access to a long private beach and private docks to fish off of. The house was clean when we arrived and the area was very quite. Kill Kare State Park is a quick walk down the road with ferry access to Burton Island. The ferry is $8/adult round trip and park access is $3/day and provides a wonderful day trip with beautiful walking trails.

We ventured into St. Albans twice for dinner and ate at Jeff's (good food and more on the fine dining end) and at One Federal (service was poor and the food was ok but the beer was cheap and they have live shows on Thursday and a cool outdoor seating area). We also drove to Burlington (about 30 min and a place we always visit when we come to Vermont) and ate at American Flat Bread (one of our favorite places and never a disappointment). We cooked at home the rest of the time and I think we could have done without eating in town. We rarely left the comfort of our vacation home!

Warren was quick with communication and gave us a personal tour (unfortunately it was a few days after we arrived and the only point we hadn't yet discovered ourselves were the private docks for use). He left us some dog treats and a bottle of welcome/congratulations wine along with fresh flowers in nearly every room!

The dogs had a wonderful time swimming and walking and this is definitely a dog friendly area.

There were a lot of little bugs (I think May flies) that came out at night so a few citronella candles will help with that but there were no bugs the whole week we were there!!

A shop right down the street sells fishing licenses and beer and is about a 5-10 min drive. Fishing is a must here and you will stumble over fish the second you walk out into the lake.

We had a wonderful week :)

wonderful lakeside home

We just returned from a week at this beautiful home on Lake Champlain and were sorry to leave. The house itself is a perfect size - plenty of room for my husband and myself and our two teenagers plus our labrador retriever. The views of the lake are spectacular, particularly during the early morning and evening hours with all of the colors of the sky reflecting on the water. We made the trip into Burlington several times (about 45 minutes away) and went antiquing in the Champlain Islands (about 30 minutes away). We also took a scenic drive to Stowe and Smugglers' Notch and just had to stop at Ben & Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee (in nearby Waterbury). If you do go to Ben & Jerry's, make sure you visit the ice cream graveyard near the parking lot. We also stopped at one of the several wineries in the area - Snow Farm Winery (on South Hero in the Champlain Islands) - but have not yet sampled the bottle we purchased there. We did not have a chance to go to Montreal which is close by but hope to do so on our next visit to Vermont. While we had been to Vermont years ago, we had forgotten how truly beautiful it is - it really is the Green Mountain State! We ate out only once at the Asian restaurant in town which, as Warren said, had delicious sushi. If you do plan to cook a lot, as we did, skip the grocery store in the center of town and go to the Price Chopper which is about 15 minutes from the house, on Main Street. Also, the ferry over to Burton Island is worthwhile and don't forget to try the kayaks. My husband caught quite a few fish from his although they were too small to keep. We definitely recommend Warren and Annie's lovely home.
