Vermont has always been my favorite place to visit. I fell in love all over again with the changes of the season. My wife and I even got married by walking from our home to the end of Camp Kill Kare. This area is truly a treasure.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
For 3 generations our family has enjoyed spending the summer on St. Albans Bay. My wife and I, along with my sister and her husband, jumped at the chance to buy a home right across the street from our Nana and down the street from our Dad. Hathaway Point holds many fond memories of fishing, sailing, swimming, kick the can, and spending time with family.
Our house is just down the road from Kill Kare State Park. Amenities include: restrooms, picnic tables, picnic shelter, parking, swimming, and nature trails. From Kill Kare you can catch a ride on the Burton Island Ferry to Burton Island, Woods Island, or Butler Island.
What a lovely, lovely stay. Six adults, two large dogs, three kitties and a whole lot of fun! Warren was the most gracious host! He left flowers, wine and cheese for us at the property and of course Ben & Jerry ice-cream! He was also very friendly and flexible during our booking process, answering all questions patiently, adjusting to our requirements and allowing the cats to come and stay! He was also very helpful and promptly came over when a fuse blew out the lights and the space heater, and later swung by with his aunt to party with us (although just for a little bit). He loves dogs so our pups welcomed him excitedly!
This is a very pretty location right on the lake and we had an absolute blast. We cooked a LOT of food, saw a LOT of Amazon and Netflix tv, and played a LOT in the snow. The deck with the propane grill was a super-hit and well utilized by both humans and dogs. The dogs especially had boisterous fun, running around leash free in the snow and even swimming in the lake although it was in the twenties with wind chill. The house had ample space, a roaring fireplace and enough sleeping areas for the whole party.
The only drawback was that the central heating wasn't up and running at the time of our stay, so we had to make do with the fireplace and another heater. Upstairs was nice but the ground floor was freezing the day before we left, with gale level lake winds and very cold temperature. But we had so much fun sitting around the fireplace and bundling up in layers of quilts, that I cannot but give this place a 5 star!
Warren greeted us with a tour of the property and a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers which were delicious! The property was spacious , great WiFi, and we enjoyed the big screen TV with Amazon and Netflix access sitting close to the gas fireplace on the two couches by the gas fireplace. It was unseasonably cold and the oil wasn't scheduled to be delivered until the next week but with the fireplace on with the fan, we were toasty in the evening. I wished the weather was nicer so I could have kayaked along the shore but everything else was wonderful for a lake cabin fall vacation. Note- the house is older than the photograph would one would think. Both bathrooms are downstairs and the bedrooms are upstairs. It is a charming, classic lake home with lots of space for group activities and amazing views.
We had a wonderful time and the place was better than advertised. Our hosts were so personal, checking in on us regularly to see if we needed anything. Provided us with dining tips, fishing location suggestions and offering to help get out boat out of the water at the end of the trip. We have two dogs and they also loved our hosts who were really good with them.
This is an absolutely beautiful location, despite being only 40 minutes away from Burlington. Warren was a wonderful and helpful host. The internet was great and so for me, as a working holiday, it was perfect.
There is no picture that could sum up the beauty of this place. The house was charming, the views were amazing, the lake was spectacular! Warren is a gracious host, along with other family members that are lucky enough to live here year round. Cannot wait to go back next year and experience this beauty once again!
The rental property was perfect for what we were looking for. It was a clean and comfortable place to stay while I was visiting for a familiy wedding. Warren was very accomodating and very attentive to our needs. With a few upgrades this place has potential to be an excellent vacation rental for any family.
