My name is Mike Martinez. Our family has been vacationing at Bullardsbar for 10 years. A few years ago we discovered Ron's "Little Ponderosa" rental just above Moran Cove which is only 5-minutes from Emerald Cove Marina.
Ron's Little Ponderosa is the PERFECT vacation rental with private road access to Bullardsbar Reservoir which is one of the most beautiful recreational lakes in Northern California. At 2500 feet above sea level, Bullardsbar is high enough to be forested and low enough to be warm (summer water temp is around 80 degrees).
Boating, skiing, swimming and fishing are but a few of the joys you'll find at this gorgeous lake. If you look to the right after entering Moran Cove, (first cove on the left when leaving the Marina) you'll see a tall white tree trunk with a blunt top. At the very top is a large Eagles nest. The pair of Bald Eagle's that live there can be seen "fishing" in Moran Cove every year. If you're lucky, you might also see an Albino Owl we've spotted many times in Moran Cove. Out on the lake you'll also see Hawks, Peregrine Falcons, Deer, Fox and other indigenous wildlife. This year we saw deer swimming across the lake (must have been inspired b y the Summer Olympics').
But unlike tent campers that have to rough it after a long day on the lake, we shore-tie our pontoon boat in Moran Cove and retreat 5-minutes up the road to Ron's Little Ponderosa and settle in for a comfortable family evening. The parking area is huge accommodating our Class-A Motor Home alongside the house. Ron even provides 30amp service for the RV (a rare benefit in a private rental).
We're a large family & stay there two or three times a year (aunts, uncles & cousins). Ron's Little Ponderosa meets ALL our needs (and then some!). The 2-bedroom, 2-bath house is spacious with enormous master bedroom and gigantic master bathroom with jetted tub. Add the large living & dining areas with sleeper sofa and space for additional air mattress and there's room for everybody.
The big front deck has a large gas BBQ and plenty of seating (a great place for morning coffee in a deep green forest setting). There is also a separate bungalow with power & air conditioning perfect for 2 or 3 additional air mattresses.
We love this location & after 10 years, know a lot about the area. If you are considering a trip into the Plumas/Tahoe National Forrest area, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property.
