Mostly great studio

  • 4 of 5

The room was big and charming, clean with cable TV. It was a very quiet place to sleep except for one morning when very loud plumbing work on the house began at 7am. I was not warned and I was on West coast time so my brain thought it was 4am. I was lucky I had taken a shower already, as the water was turned off shortly after (with minimal warning from the host). Overall a great place to stay, and this may have been a fluke, but something for other travelers to be made aware of. Also, getting in at 2am was easy enough, except some signage as to where exactly I should be going in the house would have been helpful, as I was worried about waking people up.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay and that your visit was successful. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and short notice regarding the plumbing work. We weren't expecting the workmen to arrive so early. We usually like to provide plenty of advanced notice of such occurrences whenever possible. We found out about it the night before to your arrival. Also the welcome document sent to you prior to your arrival, provides information about the apartment location in the building and other pertinent information. Thanks again for choosing to stay with us during your visit to Boston.

Great location, great hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this property for two months so I could be near my daughter and her family for the birth of my new grand daughter. It could not have been more perfect in all ways. First, the South End location is fantastic for accessibility to great restaurants, mass transit, convenience stores and services, besides being two blocks from my daughter's house. Second, the landlords were wonderfully accommodating with any requests - they even provided me with a Christmas tree and decorations for the holidays! The property was clean and well-stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies with easy access to laundry facilities. Finally, it was a very safe location and with the landlord on property I felt very protected. I went back home to California once during the two months and it was great to leave all the winter "stuff" there with confidence that all would be secure in my absence. I hesitate in writing this glowing review because I plan to go back often and I don't want all of you beating me to this great property :-)

We come back here year after year.

Even though its only one room, there are plenty space for reading, writing, talking, cooking and eating. It has a full kitchen suitable for cooking whole meals set apart from the living area. We never use a car. There are shops and restaurants steps away. Museuems, theater, music venues are all in walking distance.

And when the snow falls it's like you have stepped back into nineteenth century Boston! It's great to experience life in a neighborhood whose footprint is little changed since then.

Todd and Caroline are responsive hosts and the family is fun to get to know if you have a chance. Caroline's personal touches to the apartment add appeal without intruding. It is easy to feel at home in this roomy, comfotable and well appointed space.

Comfortable stay in a charming neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I came to Boston primarily to see a Red Sox game. The property is located in a charming neighborhood with many restaurants and bars. It is also very walkable- there is a lot to see and do nearby! (And luckily we were able to walk to Fenway from there) The host was also very accommodating. She called the day before to see what time we were getting in and if we needed to check in early. The apartment itself was very clean, and had a kitchen and courtyard. This apartment gives you so much more for your money than any hotel in the area. Overall a great experience.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. We enjoy meeting and interacting with new people. It's always a pleasure providing restaurant suggestions and sharing information about our favorite places in our neighborhood and throughout the city. We welcome all questions from our guest and try to be as accommodating as possible.

As described. Clean, convenient, and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Property was as described. It was in the lower level, which in some places gives you a dark underground feel, however it had a walkout rear area which was well done. Bed was comfortable and they had a climate control AC unit dedicated to the space. Easy walk to some great restaurants. Business stay or vacation, its a great little getaway. Highly recommend.

Can't wait to go back to Boston!

The listing was accurate re: location, layout, amenities, & pictures. The property was clean and well maintained. The owner provided good customer service. I would definitely recommend this property & I would gladly stay here again myself.

I was looking for somewhere with a kitchen so I could stay on budget during my trip & not eat out 3 meals per day. This was slightly cheaper than a hotel. I am a 30-year old female, travelling alone, and I felt safe and comfortable in this property and in this neighbourhood at all times.

It was a 10-15 minute walk to get to the Prudential Centre and Copley Square which is just east of there. I spent 2 of the days using the Old Town Trolley for touring around the city. I was able to walk to Stop 9 for the Trolley in about 10 minutes from the apartment. I also went to 2 Red Sox games at Fenway Park which I also walked to. Fenway was about a 30min walk. I walked back by myself after both the games which were at night and I felt completely safe the entire time. I didn’t take one cab during my trip, luckily the weather cooperated. I walked everywhere. I recommend using the Trolley Tour map to get around this city, even when not using the trolley. It was very helpful.

A tip on transportation from the Airport: The host suggested I could take the Silver Line Bus for a few dollars that would take me to a couple blocks from the property. Outside the terminal I got on the silver line bus but it didn’t take me to where the host suggested. This bus was free, however. The route ended at the South Station. I used the GPS on my phone to walk to the property which took about an hour from the South Station.

Later I saw a sign at the SW corner of Boylston and Dartmouth that said Back Bay Logan Express $5. This shuttle is direct to the airport (all terminals) and runs 7 days a week every 20 minutes! I took this option when it was time to go back to the airport. In future trips I will be looking for this when I arrive in Boston. For $5 it will take me to Copley Square and then a 10 minute walk to the property from there.

One suggestion for the hosts would be to leave info/directions in the apartment as to where the closest grocery stores are located in the area. I got groceries at the Star Market near the Prudential Centre, but it would have been easier to get the groceries from somewhere closer.

I have no complaints about the accommodations and would happily return.
