Aloha! Kalawai Plantation is located “upcountry” on the South side of Kauai and offers amazing seclusion and security. A perfect getaway spot! This is an island style home situated 1,000 feet above sea level. Views of the mountains and ocean surround you. You can walk around and explore nature in a very private tropical setting. You are on the edge of civilization yet within minutes from all the necessary amenities...Beaches, Fine Dining, shopping and activities. Kauai offers a great selection of adventures from mild to wild or…. just hibernate, the choice is yours. You will be staying in the guest house of our family estate and will be our personal guests, we are here to help you in anyway we can. Kalawai Plantation is an amazing experience, we hope you will come and stay with us!

Place was spotless and very well constructed, Very private and spacious Hosts most amenable and helpful. Gave us hints on activities and dining. Even did a load of wash for us.


We loved it there,

Driveway was a bear though, and should be improved. The one caveat.

Wonderful house layout. This is a comfortable and cozy place to relax and enjoy the island. Kitchen set up and cookware were very usable. We cooked several evening meals with great results and little hassle. The home location is centrally located so you can easily get to all places on the south half of the island - exactly what I wanted. Tim and Jill were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of things to do. They keep the property in tip top condition. I highly recommend this rental. One thing to remember - you will need the four wheel drive vehicle as they state.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Beautiful secluded house,very clean and well kept.The owners are a wonderful hosts. Jill's welcome basket had enough food supply for the first few days.Their organic oranges from their own trees were delicious.
Driving up and down the hill made me a bit nervous, but we did it. Always sunny Poipu beach is about 10 km away from the house. Lots of hiking trail within approximately the same distance.
We would love to come back.

A great vacation!

What a great place! The house is immaculate and loaded with kitchen and bath ammenities. We loved being away from the resorts, and having complete privacy. Waking to the sounds of birds, cows, mules and roosters was a treat, as well! Tim made sure we had everything we needed. Jill has put together a very concise book to make staying on the island most enjoyable complete with restaurants, beaches,hikes and waterfalls to visit. I highly recommend staying at Tim and Jill's Kalawai Plantation house!
Recommended for:  Romantic Getaway

This home away from home is exactly what we were looking for. It is peaceful, private, and absolutely beautiful -- both the perfectly designed and constructed home and the surrounding natural beauty. Sitting on the lanai watching the sun rise over the ocean to your right while the light begins to strike the green mountains to your left just can't be beat. The location was also perfect for us, making it easy to hit the hiking trails (and, yes, the shopping) on every point of the island during the day and just as easy to avoid the hustle and bustle when it was time to retire for the evening. Did I mention that the owners are gracious and friendly hosts? We were there a week and would have loved to stay longer. Alas, reality called! We are already plotting how to return.
