The towns of Naalehu and Pahala are close by. Naalehu is about a seven-minute drive to the west of the condo and is the southernmost town in the USA. It has fun local shops and eateries, plus a good size grocery/liquor store that has everything you need. Drive five minutes to the east and you're at the small Macadamia nut farm town of Pahala, Hawaii. It's a nice little town where you'll find a gas station, Post Office, a bank, & a grocery/liquor store.

Explore Hawaii-

This condo is the ideal starting point to explore the big island. A 30-minute drive to the southwest puts you at South Point, the starting point for a wonderful day hike or jeep ride to the famous Green Sand Beach.

A 30-minute drive to the north east puts you at the Volcanoes National Park, one of the most unique, interesting places in Hawaii, or on the earth. You can drive or hike around the Crater in the park, walk through a Lava tube in a fern grotto, or safely see an active Lava flow that has been flowing continuously across Hawaii to the sea since 1983. Outside the park is the artist's colony town of Volcano Hawaii, where you can go wine tasting at the Volcano Winery and enjoy fine dining. Drive another 30-minutes past the park and you're in Hilo, the Hawaii County government seat, and the Big Island's largest town. Beyond Hilo is the Hamakua Coast, Waipio Valley and the open cattle country of Waimea.

Take an hour and thirty minute drive to the north west and you're in Kailua-Kona. It's a pretty town along the shore of Kailua Bay that is full of shops, restaurants, hotels and tourists. Along the way you'll pass through cattle country, ancient lava flows, small coffee plantation towns, the City of Refuge- a historic Hawaiian site, Kealakekua Bay, the site of Captain Cooks first Hawaii landing and his death, plus the town of Captain Cook, Hawaii.
