High quality home away from home, right in the center of things!"
We were two couples visiting Florence for 5 nights after spending 5 nights in Rome, and a week in Tuscany. We loved all of our accommodations, but Achille was by far the most luxurious! It's almost like a well-appointed high end hotel suite with a beautiful kitchen, but really feels like a beautiful home with every attention to detail. Both large bedrooms are A-1 space with attached bathrooms, offering both couples total privacy without feeling that one has a better room or better space. The air conditioners work very well, and the sleeping spaces are quiet and dark, the beds comfortable, and the storage space elegant. The living room is equipped with a stereo set to soothing classical music which can also be heard in the kitchen, though an additional speaker...a very nice touch. Top of the line kitchen for casual breakfasts, quick lunches or home cooked dinners. The nearby supermarket also offers some decent take-home foods, in case you're museumed-out or shopped-out and need to stay home and relax. The steps are a bit daunting when you have to lug your suitcases, but other than that it's a twice daily work-out, well worth the effort, but one to be aware of. The location of Achille is franky amazing. It's central to all of the city, easy to find on the maps, and not in the middle of the most traveled touristy parts. The rear location of the bedrooms renders it very quiet. Even some occasional ambient neighborhood noise, music and such, seemed always to settle down fairly early. Emily is a great host, offering help in many ways, including lists of restaurants, information, instructions, and always available for more questions. She takes great pride, rightfully so, in her property, which was her home for a long time, and wants your stay to be the best it can be. If ever I return to Florence, which I expect I must, I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else. And I must add that all four of us staying there felt the same way.
