Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Architect designed waterfront cabin perched on a rise overlooking Lake Fairlee in the Connecticut River Valley, six miles from Interstate 91in an unspoiled landscape.

The view is both breathtaking and peaceful, on a quiet, 2.5 mile long lake with much undeveloped shoreline. The cabin is on the end of a beautifully landscaped point of land in the middle of the lake with a western view for lovely sunsets.

The main room has a cathedral ceiling, queen bed, two easy chairs, a dining table and chairs and a kitchenette. It has sliding glass doors which open onto a deck with adironack chairs facing the lake, and stairs that lead down to a private dock right in front of the cabin. The bathroom has a shower, and there is a second room with a refrigerator and microwave and that serves as a separate dressing room.

The cabin has a flat screen HDTV and DVD player with HBO. WiFi DSL, outdoor gas starter grill. All linens are provided. You will have use of a canoe, single kayaks and a double kayak and an aluminum fishing boat w/ electric trolling motor. Swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, wandering the beautiful back roads of Vermont and New Hampshire. There is a terrific golf course ten minutes away at Lake Morey, where the Vermont Open is held every June.

Hot air balloons float over the lake from a private grass-field airport 2 miles away. Perfect for Dartmouth parents, as Hanover is 20 minutes away. Sorry, no pets.

About The Owner

Retired couple who moved to Vermont permanently about six years ago. We were professionals in public affairs in Washington DC, but fell in love with the unspoiled beauty of Vermont and bought our unique lakeside property about 16 years ago. We built this guest cabin first, and then our own year round house on the same property. We enjoy having people discover the same wonders and peacefulness of this wonderful area that we so enjoy.

Why The Owner chose Fairlee

We lived in this guest cabin for six months while we were building our own house next door. It has a unique location on a two-and-a-half mile long lake that has four summer camps still in operation, which preserves much of the natural beauty of the lake without 'suburbanizing' it. The views are spectacular, the lake is just cool enough to be refreshing, and the water activities are endless. It comes with its own dock for sitting out and watching the sunset, and a swim float farther out. It will take your breath away.

What makes this cabin unique

Wandering the roads and paths around the lakes and valleys of this part of Vermont is an endless treat. For culture, there are the many activities around Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, which is only 20 minutes away. A world class hot air balloonist offers 60 minute trips from his grass airfield just a mile away. The fishing is wonderful, with small mouth bass and lake trout. We have many ways to enjoy being on and in the water, including rafts and tubes and floats, as well as the boats described. There are numerous hiking trails with all levels of difficulty within minutes. A golf course where the Vermont Open championship is held every year is only ten minutes away. Wandering through the beautiful hills and valleys of Vermont and New Hampshire, antiquing or just enjoying the unfolding views, is a regular pleasure.

We loved our stay in this beautiful little "house". It has a gorgeous view of the lake, and a lovely sense of peaceful privacy. This part of Vermont is spread out and relaxed. Loved paddling the kayak on the lake. Highly recommended. Judging by the guest book entries, everyone who stays here feels the same.

A little piece of heaven in Vermont! We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, clean, and well equipped cabin right on Lake Fairlee. A much needed break from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. Peaceful, quiet, and scenic. We couldn't have asked for more!
We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a getaway to unwind and recharge. The owners were great! Super nice people, very helpful, and accomodating.

heaven on earth!

I was a camper and camp counselor on Lake Fairlee decades ago and it holds a special place in my heart. Being on the lake again for a week in August was nostalgic, yet staying in this charming, perfectly appointed little cabin was all about being present in the moment! I could not have asked for a better spot, ideally situated both on the lake and in the Upper Valley, and it served as a beautiful and comfortable base camp for my myriad of activities, from canoeing and swimming to meandering scenic back roads, from frequenting antique fairs and farm stands to relaxing on the deck with a pile of books. Time was elastic, the weather ideal, and the property owners graciously accessible while totally respecting my privacy. I would recommend this tasteful, cozy cabin to any individual or couple looking for an active, romantic, or restorative lakeside getaway. Truly heaven on earth!

The perfect getaway

This beautiful little cottage is in a perfect patch of paradise. It seems new - it is a clean and welcoming space. You can look out on the water from bed and watch the mist slowly disappear with the sunrise. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or member of my family - and especially for couples who want time together to relax. The owners are great and helpful if you need anything. Lots of places to walk or bike to - and swimming off the dock any time you want to. You can make coffee and simple meals or go out to local restaurants with bigger towns only 1/2 hour drive away. This place was a true find for us.
