Our house was designed to be environmentally friendly. It uses solar hot water heating and has a PV system installed on the roof that generates most of the electricity used. It features water saving features and energy efficient lighting. The house is designed to use the trade winds for natural ventilation and fans to keep it cool and, like most homes in Hawaii, does not have central air-conditioning. Most of our guests find it quite comfortable but if you wish to have air conditioning, we have portable units available for the bedrooms that can be installed for you on request. There is an additional charge of $25 per day for power used if A/C is requested.

Location, location, location…
Since I am originally from cities, I quickly became used to having something to do…constantly. Yet as escapees from the city, if you are longing for a slower paced provincial life and all of its positive attributes (like catching our own fish and BBQ’ing it on the deck for dinner, buying fresh organic produce at local farmers markets, interacting with people who respect each other – and nature, gorgeous landscapes and rainbows, and so forth). The wonderful thing about this location is that you don’t have to compromise our desire to always have something fun to do or to be in very close proximity to all of the North Shore’s main nature & sports attractions/markets/restaurants/galleries, etc, while at the same time enjoying all of the countryside lifestyle perks, nestled away on a private beach front lane leading 15 seconds (walk) from our doorstep to a phenomenal white sandy beach.
Aside from enjoying the benefits of a brand new, luxurious, fully furnished rental unit in a prime location, it’s actually the “basic,” everyday little things that make this place so special…like falling asleep to the sound of crickets singing and waves crashing, waking up to birds chirping and the sun shining (there are a lot of windows and sliding doors in this unit which makes it bright if desired), looking at the bright green coconut palms and Hawaiian foliage almost makes you feel like you’re inside a giant tree house, walking next door to the beach and watching whales play just 300 meters from shore (which is an amazing sight!), eating dinner on the deck while star gazing, and being just minutes (walk) away from the world’s best surfing and scuba diving spots…are just a few of the very unique benefits of our “coconut palm haven.”
