Overview

Al Tahoe Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Historic Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Come experience and enjoy the Kokanee cabin - one of our two romantic historic Globin Estate cabins. It is tastefully decorated in a rustic motif with historic photos and memorabilia that celebrate Tahoe's heritage while providing you with all the comforts you expect in a modern vacation home. Some of the cabin's outstanding features include open-beam ceilings, brick flooring, gas-burning wood stove, furniture and art pieces by talented local artisans, fully-equipped kitchen, roll-top desk to accommodate work and wifi internet needs, and a large private backyard landscaped into an inviting garden park with private hot tub in a quiet neighborhood setting.

The location is exceptional, just a few short blocks to Lake Tahoe and a beautiful meadow reserve with hiking trails and secluded beach, two blocks to Regan beach and boat launch, where you can picnic, lounge, and kids can play on the play ground. Just a few short blocks to many great shops, bagels, restaurants, library, recreation center, museum, and grocery store. Also close to bus and shuttle lines: two miles from the casinos, and easy access to the area's great hiking and bike trails. Skiers will find the location ideal, just two miles from Heavenly Valley Ski Area, and centrally located between Kirkwood, Sierra, and Squaw Valley ski resorts.

If you are looking for a quiet, exquisitely comfortable, yet rustic cottage with great access to everything Tahoe has to offer, look no further! No smoking, please. Pets OK for extra nightly charge. When making reservation, property reference number is V-38.

Thinking of traveling with friends or family? Two doors down you’ll find our sister cottage, another 1 bedroom Globin brick beauty. Take a look at listing #142522 and share the perfection with loved ones!

About Chris knopp

My husband and I have worked to conserve and manage forests for sustainability for many decades, and we lived in Tahoe for 8 years.

Chris knopp purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Chris knopp chose Al Tahoe

We love Tahoe - this cabin helps us continue to enjoy this beautiful landscape and share it with others.

What makes this cabin unique

The Al Tahoe area is great for accessing all the wonderful things that Tahoe has to offer. Just a few block walk from the house is the beautiful Trout Creek marsh and wonderful beaches where the marsh meets the lake. A great coffee and bagel shop is just a few blocks in the other direction, and great restaurants are to be found a few blocks from the neighborhood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed here Christmas week with our dogs. Wonderful location to lake and the backyard with the hottub was fantastic. House was clean and bed comfy. The gas stove firplace kept the cabin warm with the very cold nights. These weather wimps fron San Diego were very please with the whole experience and plan to book a week this summer. Thanks again.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a cute cabin with Tahoe charm, you will love The Kokanee Cabin. We loved the cozy atmosphere that Chris & Pat have put into this cabin, it felt very historic. The kitchen is quaint with the best gas stove. Made brownies and they came out PERFECT! We stayed at the cabin with our two dogs, which loved the backyard! A quick 3 minute walk to Regan Beach was our morning and nightly tradition to have our dogs play in the water and watch the beautiful sunsets. The bed is quite small, only suggestion would be to take out the armoire, and replace with a Queen bed. Other than that it was a jem of a cabin! Thank you!

You can do better - would not stay here again

  • 2 of 5

While the location was good (close to lake, walking distance to small shops) and the property management company was helpful (easy booking, late checkout), we didn't enjoy our stay at the property.

The positives included free wireless internet and the hot tub.

But there were many many negatives. We were disappointed by the amount of dust, cobwebs and spiders inside the cabin. It looked like it either wasn't cleaned properly or it had not been used in a very long time. The bedroom was very very tiny - it was double bed crammed against the wall in a small room with very little space. We washed all dishes we used in advance of using them because they were not cleaned properly and many of the pots and pans were very old and scraped up. The stove is gas, and we could not light the oven section - also, the lighter provided did not contain fuel. The yard did not seem well maintained - we found glass in the yard - which was concerning since we brought our dog. Finally, the "amenities" were very old - outdated books, old style small television, old towels, shower that had difficulty draining, etc.

I thought about calling the property management company to complain at the time, but we arrived at 11pm on the 18th, stayed the night, and left on the 20th so we just put up with it. I wouldn't stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else. I know that there are alot of positive reviews on this site, but I'm skeptical. We found a book inside the property with positive reviews, but most were from 2006!

Owner's Response: Dear Faye, thank you for taking the time to write a comment on our cabin. May is typically a time of the year when the yard hasn't had time to green up, or the flowers time to grow. I had just tended the yard and cut the grass on the 11th before you arrived and inspected the cabin and found it very clean. However, since yours is the first negative feedback we've received in several years, we're taking it quite seriously. We regret any inconvenience you experienced. In the future, please let us know immediately of any issues, so we can solve them and ensure you're stay is enjoyable. Chris and Pat

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

  • 2 of 5

Would not recommend to others! Very uncomfortable place to sleep as the bed was hard and not on boxsprings, and the bedroom was more like a bathroom in it's size. There was not much space to store clothing, and the hot tub was not hot for the first three days we stayed. We did speak to the management and they were no help. Again, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Owner's Response: We are very sorry that this renter was not satisfied. We have had many, many satisfied customers. We recently upgraded the hottub to heat faster - not as energy efficient, but heats faster when the tub needs to be refilled between renters. We also upgraded the mattress (brand new with a memory foam topper), and we have had very favorable reviews this fall. Our little cabin is an historical property, so it is our hope that those that stay with us enjoy the its unique charm, but admittedly, it is probably not for everyone. We strive to make sure every renter is satisfied! Chris and Pat

This cabin is perfect! like a home away from home. its location is awesome! right next to the lake and town but at the same time its very private. its so comfortable with a hot tub and soft bedding and allows our four legged friend. I've stayed at other cabins in Tahoe and for the price, oh yeah its the best! perfect for a couples get-a-way and don't forget the pooch! I know we'll be back soon.
