Great for our Company Retreat

Submitted: January 8, 2013 Stayed: April 2012
I don’t have too much feedback because we thought everything was just perfect. I couldn’t believe that such a big group of such diverse adults could all be happy in one house….but we were. We loved it, I asked the group and no one could come up with anything that would have made our stay better, it was lovely.

Thank you and I hope to come again.

Harbor Beach vacation home

4 of 5
Submitted: August 19, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
Beautiful home, very spacious, pictures on web site don't do it justice. View of lake is splendid and relaxing. Beach area on property is "mucky" due to low lake level, we swam at nearby beaches, take beach shoes or do belly crawl over rocky shores. Survived without air-conditioning just fine with fans and breezes. Gazebo in poor repair, not usable, looked like vandelism. Refrigerator not working up to par, had to keep milk in cooler. No problem with water supply and we had 11-14 pre-teens to adults taking plenty of showers. Foster's Bar and Grill next door is fabulous, excellent menu, friendly staff, within walking distance. Overall a wonderful vacation in beautiful area. Lisa
Owner's Response: Thank you for submitting this review! We are addressing the refrigerator and gazebo and will continue to improve the property so our visitors will want to come back for another vacation on Lake Huron!

Mother Nature will be the driving force on our beach, hopefully supplying us with more water to raise the lake level. Not much we can do about that except, as others have noted, work around the obstacles she has supplied this year.

Looking forward to a grea 2013!

Family Reunion

5 of 5
Submitted: July 18, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
This place is ideal for big gatherings. Ive looked at a lot of places before finally booking this house. I had a memorable and wonderful time with my family at this spacious and beautiful home. The area is huge, the house itself is very spacious. We had a lot of fun playing volleyball, bandmenton and ping pong. We had a wonderful time swimming, cannoeing and tubing. We did walk a little bit til we had a good depth for swimming. Yes, a few areas were mucky but we went around the beaches by Lake Huron and you cant avoid walking thru muck coz of how low the water levels are. But once you've got good depth, the water was wonderful. Dont forget to bring your water shoes! Lake Huron is a bit stony but we enjoyed the sand bars in front of the Lake House. We grilled, had choices of gas or charcoal grill. The kitchen was big, oven held up for the amount of food we had to cook for my big family. Although I would suggest that the owner should invest on a freezer and maybe an additional refrigirator at the garage. Planning, preparing and finding storage for food for a week is a bit difficult with just one refrigerator. Its big but our family love to cook and eat. We brought a lot of food. The rooms were nice, rooms facing the like had beautiful views of the lake. Now I know the house doesnt have air but it never really bother my family. The ceiling fans worked wonders and the attic fan helped circulate cool air inside the house. We never had issues with that. Although they should fix a few windows that wouldnt open coz of broken handles, there were just 3 windows I think. We never ran out of water. The house was supplied by big water tanks, water was deliverd twice a week. We did laundry everyday, towels and clothes. We had cable, kids had fun watching Nickelodeon shows and movies. The playroom was just great. It rained one day and the family were busy playing pool and video games. We had a 3 and a 2 yr old. They had so much fun playing the electric piano and all the games that was available at the house. We had bonefire almost every night, we enjoyed smores and the perfectly cooked brown marshmallows. My most memorable moment was July 4th, at dusk we all went down to the sandy area by the lake,my family gathered around the bonefire and just enjoyed the beautiful show of colorful fireworks my husband planned for the occasion. The It was amazing. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories. We really enjoyed the place and my family. I would highly recommend the place.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for enjoying our property! We are continuing to improve the amenitites through short-term and long-term planning.

We look forward to hosting our pleased vacationers again soon!

My family of 4 generations - 8 adults and 6 children (all under age 6) had plenty of room. BUT - We had 9 towels and 3 wash cloths upon our arrival. I spent $40 on 4 beach towels our 1st night. The agent did bring more towels and unlocked the linen closet that held the beach towels the next day. Otherwise the house was well furnished. But we were led to believe that the 300ft of beach meant you could actually get to the water! There was a good 30 ft of MUCK between the "beach" and the lake!!! The agent told my mother (when he brought the towels) that they tell folks this can sometimes be the case. FALSE!!!! The neighbor said the lake was down 4 feet and that they hadn't had a usable beach in years. The agent further told my Mom that there were public beaches 1 mile & 12 miles away. That was TRUE - but packing up 6 little ones, 2 seniors, lunch and beach paraphernalia daily and cutting beach time in half to accommodate naps was not the relaxing week at a beachfront cottage we all envisioned! After swallowing that disappointment the first day, we still had to deal with the fact that there was NO AIR CONDITIONING and it was 90 degrees the first 3 days! Thank goodness the temps went down and we could at least sleep. We found out you CANNOT leave a window open in any room with a light on over night or the room will be FULL of BUGS the next morning. Bugs & spider webs were everywhere - especially windows & doors! A monthly powerwash and some bug spray would go a long way!!!! The topper on this week was that we RAN OUT OF WATER on Thurs night!!!!! Of course we were in the middle of running the dishwasher and preparing dinner when it ran out! We were told it wasn't possible that we had run out! We invited the agent to check for himself - then we were told we wouldn't have water until morning. No clean bottles, kids needing baths, 3 sinks full of dirty dishes and we would have to wait until morning. Then the agent asked us to offer a solution!!! I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! He found someone to bring water!!!! My husband spent an hour figuring out how to reset the pumps to actually get the water running. Oh yeah - one other major inconvenience was the very inadequate apartment sized washer & dryer that took forever to dry clothes!!! OVERPRICED FOR THE LACK OF BEACH & AIR CONDITIONING, OVERABUNDANCE OF BUGS AND QUESTIONABLE WATER SUPPLY AND LAUNDRY ACCOMODATIONS!!!!
Owner's Response: This family experienced a Michigan adventure, unfortunately many of the adversities that come with a lakefront rental.

There's no doubt that this family was gracious under the circumstances. Mother Nature, being as unpredictable as she is, provided the muck, the bugs, spiders, and the uncharacteristic heat that comes with a vacation home along Lake Huron. The muck was a result of calm waters and excessive heat that are not usually associated with Lake Huron. Bugs and spiders are a natural inconvenience for most of us living on the Lake.

And being right on the Lake, there are not many times that we have such temperatures as we had this past month, especially the week that this family experienced.

New towels had been ordered, but unfortunately not delivered by the time this family arrived. As soon as we learned of the towel shortage the broker himself drove up with personal towels, the best that we could do at the time to keep the inconvenience to a minimum.

The water issue, thanks to the understanding of this family, has been addressed and steps have been taken to provide better communication with the occupants on what to do when, or if, the water tanks malfunction again.

Also, for those considering our spacious home for their future vacationing, know that we are available for your inquiries.
