As you enter the simple stone pillars you will have the opportunity to experience a wonderful vacation retreat and laid back mountain atmosphere. The winding drive will take you past two open meadows leading to our summer home which is nestled on the hill surrounded by 23 natural mountain acres. Enjoy the forested mountain terrain and Ravenswood Lake where you can fish from our shore. The lake is fed by our natural springs and children will love cooling off in the property's creek while catching crawdads.
Built as a rural summer cottage in 1934, the house has been lived in year round since 1945 by our grandparents and parents. Since 2006 we have used it for our vacation home where we have enjoyed the mountain climate.
The two-story house has a spacious living room with working fireplace, flat screen television, and plenty of seating for entertaining. The cherry paneled dining room has a table that seats 10-12 guests. The breakfast room which accommodates 6-8 overlooks the informal cutting garden and is the perfect place to start your day. A full bath with shower is on the main floor. The second floor’s master bedroom has a queen bed and bath with shower and across the hall there are two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The first of these bedrooms has a queen bed and the second has a ¾ bed and a twin. The fourth bedroom is an original sleeping porch, now enclosed, with wonderful windows overlooking the terraced back yard. There is a queen bed and a full bath which can also be accessed from the hallway.A well stocked library is two steps down with a queen bed. The sixth bedroom with 2 single beds has a small covered porch with a few rocking chairs. There are rear stairs leading back to the first floor.
The cozy guest house off the wisteria arbor has 2 bedrooms with a set of twin beds in each and a connecting full bath with shower/tub.
We hope you will enjoy our well loved mountain retreat!
