|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
Enjoy the summer breezes at this quaint cottage with views of Bogue Sound and close access to all the amenities the Crystal Coast has to offer.
Upon arriving, you'll notice the charm of this 3 BR, 2 BA home. As you proceed thru the front door, you will notice the generous living area with plenty of seating for everyone and your first view of the waterway with Palm Trees swaying in the breeze.
Heading down the hallway, you first arrive at a bedroom which will remind you of cruise ships and days gone by. Hop on the full size bed and just relax. On your left is a full bathroom. Going a little further down the hall, you pass another bedroom on your right with a comfy Queen size bed. It has a fresh airy feel, with crisp sheeting. On your left is a full service laundry area. Continuing directly down the hall and your last stop is the Master Retreat with a King Sized Bed and a Super-Sized shower with Dual Shower Heads. Let me also mention that linens and a generous amount of towels are included with each rental.
Returning back to the Living Room and to your left is the Kitchen with all the items you will need to make your stay comfortable. As you peer over the bar, you see another view of the canal.
Continue heading through the kitchen you come out on the Carolina room which has accommodations for another 2 guests and a couch to read that novel you've been waiting to get to. A great place for the kids to hang out as well.
Coming around the sun porch you head back into the Dining Area where you'll notice the Dining Room Table that is made of reclaimed wood.
As you proceed outside, the porch invites you for morning coffee or a late afternoon cocktail. An outdoor sofa and chairs will let you enjoy the warmth of the sunshine. A nice grassy yard allows the kids to play while the adults kick back and relax.
A trip down the stairs and towards the dock, you land on a paver patio and have a view of the sound that will cause you to immediately relax. Drop a fishing line, cast net or crab pot in the water and you just might have something for dinner.
You also have the option of dropping your boat in the water a few miles away at a nearby marina and your ready to take off for a day of fishing or boating. Plenty of sand bars encompass the area and with Shackelford Banks and Cape Lookout nearby you'll have plenty to do. Bring the boat back to the deep water dock (canal 4' deep) and you can unload all the goodies you've found throughout the day.
Whether a large family or small, you'll enjoy kicking back and relaxing at this home that feels just like yours.

I purchased this home as my job took me away from the coast. I frequently visit the home, but had many requests from friends and family to rent the cottage. I'm an avid boater and enjoy anything about the water and sand.
Lynette Schehr purchased this house in 2004
I selected this home as my vacation home because of it's location both on and off the water. With easy access to Morehead City, Atlantic Beach & Beaufort, I can enjoy all the charm those towns have to offer. On the water, there is easy access to either Bogue or Beaufort Inlet for some offshore fishing and the easy access to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout when I want to relax. It's the best of both worlds.
Most certainly you will enjoy the comforts of home, but my favorite part is the paved patio area down near the dock. We enjoy the views of the sound and breezes coming up the canal and waving to boaters passing by. A very friendly community.
This home was a delight for our three generation family gathering. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and coffee on the porch overlooking the canal and dock was a delight! It is in a quiet neighborhood with many birds, including an owl and an egret. The one story floorplan worked easily for our elderly mother who uses a cane and wheelchair.
I was mistaken in thinking the Carolina room is a screen porch. This is the room with two twin beds. I was happy to find it was a fully air conditioned sunroom room off the kitchen.
The dock is very high above the water, over 3 feet even at high tide. We were able to get in and out of our kayak and hobie cat just to the side of the boat lift by a beam that runs closer to the water. The children delighted in swimming from a locked boat ramp within about half a block.
The canal runs into the sound and the intercoastal waterway. We had delightful hours sailing and kayaking both.
We were easily able to body surf in the Atlantic at Fort Macon State Park swimming beach with life guards. We climbed two of three light houses in a day trip to the Cape Hatterras National Seashore. We took the free ferry to lunch at Oriental, the sailing capitol of North Carolina.
The home is also close to Morehead City for convenient shopping. One member of our family works at the cherry point marine base so was able to commute to work and still be together with us at night. It made a great getaway for his family even though just a few miles from home!
Lynette is very responsive, attentive and a good host even though we only met remotely. She provided suggestions and answered all of our questions.
We were able to spend a month at this great house, it had everything we wanted while trying to decide if we want to move the area. The owner was so accommodating and even offered to help us find a place on the canal if we wanted too.
The house was just steps away from the dock so it was easy to load up the fishing gear and head out to the inter coastal waterway. Couldn't ask for any more from a house and we felt very comfortable from the day we arrived.
We are planning to return this fall when hopefully the fishing will be better. We highly recommend this place for the as long as you can stay.
What a great place to stay! Right at the sound, deep water access, a boat dock, perfect.
The house was well equipped, very clean, very comfortable. I am planning on renting it again soon, and I definetely recommend it.
We stayed at the cottage several days for a much needed vacation. It is very well appointed with all the comforts of home. It was so quiet and peaceful, just what we needed. We enjoyed the front porch immensely, although the sun can get a little hot! Hanging out back for an evening BBQ was our way to let the sun go down so we could head back front. Just a short drive to Atlantic beach which was awesome. We strongly recommend the Crab Shack in Salter Path on Emerald Isle if you don't mind a half hour drive. It is well worth the trip. Best seafood we've ever had! Great place to get away from it all, yet close enough to things you want to do. We went into Beaufort and went deep sea fishing on the Carolina Princess. A must-do if you enjoy fishing!!
We've rented homes several times in the Hatteras area and none were as nice and clean as this home. We were very pleasantly surprised at the home's condition and loved the back porch. Very convenient for boaters with easy access to the sound and Beaufort inlet. The only drawback is that it gets extremely shallow along the sea wall at low tide. We hit bottom while trying to leave for fishing early one morning and dinged the prop and lower part of the outdrive of my 24' Albemarle. Make sure you raise your outdrive completely and float out to the center of the channel prior to getting under power.
My wife and I stayed here for a week in June and the house was actually much more than we expected. Everything was very clean, well decorated, organized and the landscaping was great. The canal was very adequate for access at high or low tide with about a 2 foot variance and we actually used a cast net to catch live bait there in the canal. (Chef's 105 on the Morehead City waterfront will prepare your catch for you if you call them in advance) The master bedroom mattress was the best we'd ever slept on and we're gonna have to redo our shower to match the 1 there!
We highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Morehead City area and we intend to return soon.
My family and some friends of ours stayed in this beautiful home for a week in July 2010. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is very convenient to everything and the owner is very accomodating. It is well decorated and the kitchen is stocked well. The kids enjoyed fishing from the dock right out the back door. Very relaxing and a great master bath with a huge shower. You will be very pleased if you choose this for your vactaion rental. I enjoyed my stay and hope you will also. I will definately stay here again.
