Natural Beauty, Birds, Wildlife, Culture...In all of our travels, we have found Costa Rica is the closest thing to paradise that exists on earth. The culture is wonderful, the 'Ticos' are genuinely warm, friendly, well educated and hard working. Family remains the foundation of the culture. The legal, medical, communication and transportation systems, though different, work well. The unspoiled, pristine beauty of this region is unparalleled. It is a step back in time, yet modern conveniences are accessible.
We stayed for six weeks in these beautiful homes from January to February. Our family of five stayed in one home while my in-laws and their grand-daughter stayed in the other. The wrap around deck was where we spent most of our time, eating outside, playing cards, reading in the hammocks... The pool was so warm and great for laps or just splashing around. We were so comfortable here that we didn't want to go visit around. The vaulted ceilings, the great amount of shade, the plants and surroundings are just breath taking. Marvin, the caretaker brought us fresh fruit from the jungle, and filled pots with jungle flowers to decorate the homes. He was a real pleasure to be with. The drive up the mountain to this home is about fifteen minutes and requires a four wheel drive vehicle if you want to have any real fun. Once you're down the hill, youre five minutes from the groceries, the beach, the information center... I have stayed in other nice homes in Uvita but this one is unique in how there are no bugs in the home since it has been built on stilts. I never saw a scorpion or any other venomous insect for that matter. When we stayed out at night late, my daughter was sometimes bitten my small Mosquitos but with a bit of insect repellent we would have avoided the bites. We saw a howler monkey in the jungle from our balcony, many toucans - as many as nine at once in one tree, a coati came out every night at around six, an opposum visited and so did wild peacocks. Basically, if you love nature's sights and sounds while being comfortable, go to this home.
