A hundred years ago, during the First World War, ‘Il Granaio' was built to become stables for the Italian Cavalry. Afterwards 'Il Granaio was used as a barn to store wheat. During the whole of 1999 the building was completely restored, though its original character remained unchanged. All guests can use the pool beach beds and sun screens, bicycles and BBQ's. Its location is a central one: the sea at 5 km, Castiglione della Pescaia, an attractive mediaeval fishing place, at a distance of 10 km, Siena 70 km.

The beach: The beach is pure white sand. The clear sea water has currently been rated by the authorities as excellent. (2007)

Language course: We organize 2 language courses with duration of 2 weeks from 06/04 till 20/04 or from 12/10 till 26/10. The lessons will be held from Monday till Friday from 10.00 till 13.00 o‘clock. The teacher is Mrs. Dr. Liliana Innocenti, graduated and teacher of Italian language and literature and history. Rate per person, Minimum 2 people: 250 Euro rate per person, minimum 4 people: 200 Euro. Study material is included. Apartment is not included.

Programma Concise course of Italian: The daily curriculum is as follows: 1.Grammar. Phonetics (pronunciation), Morphology (nouns, articles, adjectives, verbs, syntax, perfect tense, past tense, future tense) 2. Vocabulary. 3. Fluency. 4. Geography. We will follow the route you took to get at 'Il Granaio'. We will say something about Tuscany, the Maremma, the Thyrrenian Sea, the coastal region, the hills, the rivers, the cities, villages, the climate, and the islands of the Tuscan archipelago. 5- History: Etruscan and Roman dwelling places. Emboldening of coastal areas. The vanished Lake of Prilis. Ancient families. 6. Optional. Visit to the villages of Roselle and Vetulonia, the museum of Grosseto-about which we will learn more. Excursion to the wine-route of 'Brunello del Montalcino', via the villages of Paganico, Sant' Angelo, Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza. You can organize your own seminars, workshops and courses in our conferences.

'Il Granaio' is pleasantly positioned amidst fields of sunflowers, wheat and rye, pine trees, hills and the Mediterranean Sea. The famous Uccellina Natural Park is only 15 km away; a vast, protected, breeding place for birds of passage at only 5 km. Everything can easily be reached by bicycle. For those who love culture and history, Vetulonia and Roselle are places famous for their Etruscan tombs and excavations. Mediaeval villages like Montepescali, Buriano and Sticciano are nearby and absolutely worth visiting. The beach is pure white sand.
