Bring the kids or just have a quiet getaway in Hillside Beach - a brand-new house located on a one-way street serving only the residences on three blocks. It is a safe, quiet place to completely relax on vacation. Walk a few feet down to the water's edge and watch the birds, boats and just enjoy the quiet lapping of the water on an inlet of Long Island Sound. A kiddie playground across the street compliments the equiptment for kids in the house.

A beautiful beach a short distance away is surrounded by interesting mansions. With a permit, bicycles can be carried on the Metro-North train which goes to Milford, within three miles of Hillside Beach so there is no need for a car. Several good restaurants are within walking distance and many will deliver food to you at Hillside Beach. Summer weather is generally warm with short rain showers to keep the flowers blooming around the house all summer.

Amazing!!

We stayed at Hillside Beach during Christmas 2012. This place exceeded our expectations - it was impeccably clean, Avis and her associates were beyond helpful and the decor was even more updated than the pictures online. We were driving to Connecticut from Michigan and planned to arrive late on Thursday night - after driving all day, we were delighted to find the driveway lights on, a warm house, and Kristen had even picked up some groceries for us so that our boys (ages 9 months and 4.5 years) had milk and snacks as soon as we walked in the door. All of the amenities were as listed online, but beyond that, Avis had a Christmas tree and decorations for us to celebrate the holidays, as well as a giant box of toys for our boys to play with. Being a detail-oriented person, I was excited that Avis kindly provided prompt email responses to my many questions (both before and during our stay). John lives close by and was also available to help. Based on another person's review, we also did the Polar Express train ride and would highly recommend that to anyone with kids - ours loved it! This was the first property we have ever rented and it was a tremendously wonderful experience. We cannot say enough great things both about this beautiful property and how fantastic Avis was to work with. I would absolutely recommend Hillside Beach to anyone, but not for Christmas 2014, we loved it so much that we already asked to reserve it again :)
Owner's Response: One of the joys of renting vacation homes is my association with the guests. Phone calls and emails before they come makes me feel that I already know them and can't wait to meet them.
It was such fun for me to drive by Hillside Beach one evening and see the Christmas Tree through the great room windows that Michelle and her family had decorated. One of my special gifts this Christmas was a beautiful candle from these very appreciative guests. We will welcome them back for Christmas 2014!

Christmas in Connecticut

My family have just returned from the most fantastic holiday in Milford. Hillside Beach was a real home from home, right down to the Christmas tree. We had everything we needed at hand, I managed to do all my holiday baking without a hitch. Avis was a pleasure to do business with, and made the organisation of our trip so much easier. She made sure we had everything we needed to celebrate the festive season. We were fortunate enough not to have to call upon John, although he obviously made himself known to us. It was very reassuring to know that help was just a couple of doors away if we needed it.
The location could not have been better - just steps from the beach and a 5 minute drive to the store. My daughter was very pleased that we were only 8 minutes away from the Westfield Mall!
The property itself was spotlessly clean and very well maintained.
We were very lucky to manage to get seats on the North Pole Express, at Essex Steam Train Museum. That was a most magical experience, enjoyed by adults and children alike. We were also able to get to the Trolley Bus Museum at East Haven. They were trialling being open for the week after Christmas, which was a bonus for us. We also visited the Eli Whitney Museum in Hamden, which was so much better than we had hoped. However, you just can't beat skimming stones on the beach then stepping home for a hot chocolate.

It is safe to say that everything exceeded our hopes and expectations.
Owner's Response: It was fun for me to prepare Hillside Beach for Tracey and her family by leaving a Christmas tree and a suitcase full of decorations and tree ornaments for the family to decorate the house themselves. They found that there are fun and interesting things to do in the winter by driving short distances from Milford besides staying warm and cozy in front of the fireplace enjoying family togetherness.

Come One Come All!!!!

My family and I stayed at Hillside in July and it was by far the Best vacation home we ever stayed in, the house was supper clean and the view from the big window was awesome. I was eight of us and we had plenty of room and the kitchen was well stocked. The deck was nice to enjoy and the fireplace was nice touch at night time, the beds was also nice and soft just like the one from home. The playground for the kids was just a cross the street and the beach is only a block away, we met some great neighbors there and had them over for dinner a couple of nights so that was great also, John the care taker was great and was very helpful with our needs. We can't wait to come back again next year and Avis is the BEST to deal with and very understanding, better hurry and set your date cause it will be one of the best place you will ever stay at. Thanks again AVis!!!!!!

Nice Getaway

My family I enjoyed staying here. The house was clean and nice. There is a playground for the kids a few doors down. I would stay there again.

perfect location for our family to stay. our daughters wedding was 25 minutes in weston,She was a beautifull Bride. the view of the sound and the glorious sun rise are well worth it manager john great guy to talk to gives you a little history all around great time. will stay here again on future trips will be back , hopefully grand kids in the end of 2012 haha.
