The climate is mild; the scenery is spectacular; and, there is always something happening.

The living room has a white leather sectional sofa, plus desk with internet and cable TV.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower and fresh, clean towels and a hair dryer.
The bedroom has a queen size bed with a new Simons Beauty Rest mattress. The bed is ready with clean linens. Extra bedding is available to create a second sleeping area in the living room if needed.
The cottage even has a small private fenced yard and patio with a bistro set and barbeque. All utilities, gardener, TV and Wi-Fi and off street parking are provided, as well as a storage area for surf boards and/or bikes. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Santa Cruz has 29 miles of sand and surf and a very mild climate all year round. Driving south of Pleasure Point, you will find Manresa Beach, La Selva, Capitola Beach, Seacliff Beach (sunken cement ship), Seascape Beach, and Sunset Beach . Driving North of Pleasure Point, check out the Santa Cruz Harbor; discover Light House Field State Beach (good surfing and great place to walk dogs).
Natural Bridges State Beach, known for its tide-pooling and famous natural rock bridge, feels secluded but is easily accessible from the road. This state park is a Monarch Butterfly sanctuary for as many as 100,000 butterflies that are drawn to the mild ocean air and eucalyptus grove in the winter months.
Further north are: Wilder Ranch Beach (historic site), Davenport Beach (tiny town with a good bakery),and Four-mile Beach (known for beach parties), Scotts Creek Beach, (a favorite for beach combing ) Wadell Creek Beach, Bonny Dune Beach and the Red-White-Blue .
The county is also blessed with 14 state parks, including the popular Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, accessible by steam train from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. If you want more adventure: Hike, ride a bike or zip line or train through the beautiful redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains.
If you have a loved one that is college bound, be sure to check out the UCSC Campus.
There are plenty of places in Santa Cruz County to end the day with a glass of wine and a fresh plate of seafood. The pier at the Boardwalk is one favorite places to enjoy breakfast or toast the sunset. The Shadow Brook Restaurant in nearby Capitola would be a wonderful place for a special dining experience. Fragrant gardens and rustic creek-side location add much to the ambience, not to mention a quaint cable car that takes you down to the restaurant and lounge to enjoy live guitar music and happy hour.

After teaching for thirty-four years and maintaining cars, airplanes and properties for even longer, being parents and grandparents, we have become 'snowbirds'. Creating 'home' along the west coast has been a life long passion. This Pleasure Point Cottage is one of our favorites. It's a place we enjoy coming to for sheer relaxation, and we take delight in creating an affordable vacation option for others.
Lorraine Heng purchased this cottage in 1979
We love the ambience, especially the fresh ocean air, the mild climate and natural beauty of Monterey Bay with its powerful surge of ocean waves on the beach. There is a wealth of outdoor activities here, and access to either San Francisco peninsula or Carmel-by-the-Sea is easy from the Santa Cruz area.
Where else in the world can you, walk out your front door and down the street a couple of blocks to go surfing, comfortably stroll so many beaches, walk the dog through the Light House Field or along the marshes, go deep sea fishing or sailing, go hiking or ride horseback through the nearby redwood forests; or go kayaking in the Elk Horn Slough? A continuing favorite is to watch the otters, birds and sea lions play in the estuary at sun set, while enjoying a fine fish dinner at Moss Landing.
Everything was quite clean. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. Look forward
to my next visit!
Perfect place for 2 (it was fine having a teenager as a 3rd person on the couch, too) on the quiet end of town, if you want to be out of the craziness of downtown/boardwalk area and have great access to the beach. Great yard for hanging out. House has everything you need, including a storage shed for bikes, boards, etc. Easy drive to grocery stores/restaurants. Owner is easy to communicate with via email/phone.
My dog and I had a great vacation in this little cottage. Easy walk to Pleasure Pt. and Moran Beach. We went swimming every day! Cannot beat this location and house is pleasant with every thing you need! I would definitely stay again! Sharon.
So sad to leave! The location could not have been better, and the cottage could not have been better.
It is very comfortable with a living room with a large sofa, a desk, internet, large screen TV (but who would want to watch it when you are in such a beautiful place). There ia very good mattress. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped and has a nice eating area. The whole cottage was very clean. Lorraine was good enough to show the cottage to my son who lives in Santa Cruz when I was considering renting it. Otherwise I did not see or have to contact her, as everything was so perfect there was no need. There was lots of information on local events and places and clear instructions on how to use and care for the cottage.
I would suggest that guests have some means of transportation. I got along very well walking and with just a bicycle. I think the cottage would be difficult for a handicapped person to navigate. It would be perfect for a family with young children but might be a bit tight with energetic teenagers. The bathroom only had a shower, which was perfect for me.
I would difinnately go back and stay longer.
[It did cross my mind give it a bad review so it would be available when I want it....]
My husband and daughter wanted a place close to the beach. This location gave us just that. The cottage is best for a couple only. It is very small. It has everything you need. Only downside on this was the heater and refrige are dated and very loud. Also, the dishes we used were not cleaned very well. I would recommend it but would likely stay at another, larger property next time.
Our first time at your cottage loved it> Prefect lowcal for us and what we do in Santa Cruz!!! We will be back soon. everything was perfect clean , cozy and laid back . close to everything ! if you know what your doing down here! My dog Stella loved it too> We will be back for sure!!!!! Hope we get a discount for the 5 Star rating next time, Lorraine
This is our second time at your place and we love it. I fantasize about taking it for a month time. It had enough kitchen supplies to make lots of food. I like to cook up a storm when on holiday. The front grassy area is really nice and it's so close to great walking and road riding which we do both. The surf was up while we were there and it was a great place to walk and watch all the action in the water. There is also a little store walking distance for somethings you may have forgotten like salt! We'll be back!
The cottage is less than two blocks from one of the finest surfing spots on the west coast. It's half way between Carmel By the Sea and San Francisco, on Monterey Bay, close to Old Capitola.
Santa Cruz County has 29 miles of beaches to explore: Cowell's Beach, Steamer Lane, (a favorite surfing spot), Twin Beach, and Castle Beach, are all near the Santa Cruz Wharf.
Driving south from Pleasure Point Cottage, you will find Manresa Beach, La Selva, Capitola Beach, Seacliff Beach (sunken cement ship), Seascape Beach, and Sunset Beach (romance ).
Driving North look for the Santa Cruz Harbor (great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner and evening entertainment); discover Light House Field State Beach ( good surfing and great place to walk dogs), Natural Bridges (observe Monarch butterflies), Wilder Ranch Beach (historic site), Davenport Beach (tiny town with a good bakery),and Four-mile Beach (known for beach parties), Scotts Creek Beach, (a favorite for beach combing ) Wadell Creek Beach, a (a good spot for wind-surfing) Bonny Dune Beach and Red-White-Blue (clothing is optional). Come and discover how many beaches you can find to leave your foot prints in the sand!
If you want more adventure: Hike, ride a zip line or train through the beautiful redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains. Visit the UCSC Campus, the Monterey Bay Aquarium or play a round of golf. Drive up the coast to San Francisco, and walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. You'll never forget it!
