Holualoa Cottage Studio minutes to Downtown Kona and Beaches

Lovely Mauka Studio Cottage on 5 Acre Horse Property yet minutes to downtown Kailua-Kona and Beaches.

This slice of Hawaiian Heaven is located on the temperate side of Hualalai Mountain, home to the finest coffee in the world, Kona Coffee. The beautiful vistas from our property over look our pastures with grazing Calves and Horses, the neighboring Coffee Farms and on to the Beautiful Kona Coastline and Ocean Horizon views that will amaze you with incredible Sunsets. The three stall Cedar Barn is home to Gilda, our Friesian mare and her 1/2 Arabian Colt, Kuu Ipo. There is also one wonderful oversensitive loveable Dog, Sammy, an old Red Hen, Ruby and a White Homing Pigeon named Pearl. Of course we shouldn't leave out the flocks of Wild Turkeys and Doves, and the variety of wild Pheasant and Birds that insist on visiting every day.

The Cottage is located on the quiet side of the main house and pool with commanding Coastline and Ocean Views of its own. The cozy studio includes a small refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, dishes and utensils. There is also a flat screen TV with a built-in DVD player and WiFi.

We are located approximately 2.5 miles from the Wonderful Quaint Artist Community of Holualoa Town, an Historic small town overlooking Kailua-Kona. This charming old Hawaiian Town boasts several beautiful local Artist Galleries, an acclaimed Restaurant, a small General Store, a country Post Office, Library, School, Churches and lots of old style Coffee Shack buildings. Of course there is a great Coffee House with Fresh Baked Goodies to enjoy as you stroll the Galleries. Kailua-Kona, beaches, restaurants and shopping are just minutes down the mountain.

Our home sits approximately 2100 feet above downtown Kailua-Kona. A bit cooler than sea level the nights are perfect for sleeping and the days perfect for activities. Our day time temperatures rarely exceed 85 degrees even in Summer.

Come experience a side of Hawaii that most people never get to see, yet so close to Kona, Shopping and all beach activities. Come enjoy our Country Hospitality smothered in Aloha!

About Sidnie

Just another runaway babyboomer from the west coast, nestling in the big island style of life for the past 14 years . The aloha spirit is alive and abundant in our wonderful country home in Keopu Mauka. My second love (after my wonderful Wayne) are horses (2 on property) and my best example is my pride and joy, Gilda, a Friesian Mare and her Colt who is not so young anymore, born Sept. 13th 2011.

Sidnie purchased this cottage in 2004

The Ultimate Blend of Hospitality and Solitude

  • 5 of 5

We were married in Hawaii 25 years ago, and over the years we have spent time on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. This year, we wanted a special getaway as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We came across this adorable cottage and from our very first phone call to Sidnie, we felt the Aloha spirit! That spirit continued to grow during our 7-night stay at this charming property.

From the moment we stepped inside the cottage, we felt relaxed and at peace. The room was attractive and impeccably clean. A beach blanket and two bathrobes were among the standard provisions, which we thought was a nice touch. We enjoyed seeing roosters and chickens on our daily walk, and then greeting Sam and the horses when we returned. The panoramic view was beautiful as we sat on the porch having breakfast, or even sitting at the table inside. We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and quiet in our standalone cottage – and slept so much better than in a condo or hotel room! We equally enjoyed the welcoming, yet unimposing, hospitality of Sidnie and Wayne, along with their wonderful friend Annette who was visiting them. All in all, terrific hosts, excellent accommodations and a serene location! It was, indeed, a very special getaway! Thank you Sidnie, Wayne and Annette for everything!

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect, quiet retreat in Holualoa. The property is actually located on the mountain just above Holualoa town, at the end of the road -- very private. On three sides of the cottage are large yards and open space. The owners home is on your right side, but they are very respectful of your privacy, so you feel like you are in your own little sanctuary. Everything you need is in the cottage -- nice comfortable queen bed, little table with two chairs, outdoor chairs and table, towels, bathrobes, television/dvd, small refrigerator, coffee maker (with some coffee), flatware, plates, soaps, etc. The owners were there to greet me upon arrival, and they are absolutely wonderful people, offering helpful tips and ideas for my stay. On the property, they have two beautiful horses, a few cows, and a very quiet/peaceful dog. No roosters, which was good for late morning sleeping. The views down the mountain to the ocean were spectacular. The property is gated, as well. I definitely hope to have the option to stay again in the future!

So close and yet far enough!

  • 5 of 5

The view - spectacular! You are short drive from everything, but look down from the spectacular 2,000-foot ocean view from the cottage window and the hustle and bustle looks 100 miles away. I highly recommend for those who want serenity on their vacation. Sam, the dog treats you like an old friend the minute he meets you. The horses are friendly too. Can't say enough good things about our hosts. I would definitely come back again.

Peaceful & relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here in March 2015. The property is breathtaking! Everything from the cabin situated on top of a mountain overlooking the ocean. Cabin itself was private, very clean and tidy, large bathroom, tv, swimming pool, mini fridge etc.

Perfect for single or couple travellers. The owners are helpful and friendly.

Only a 15min drive from airport and Kona town. You'll need a car to get around.

Am already thinking about re-visiting and staying here again.

We loved this little house in Kona coffee country! It was quiet and comfortable with easy access to the Kona sites. Our host and hostess were friendly and helpful, and even dog Sam was welcoming. It was fun to wake up to a horse nibbling grass right next to the front porch. The evenings were cool and days warm, and what's not to like about this lovely place? It's closer to the size of a hotel room, but with the charm of a home. We would definitely come back. We found sea turtles on a lovely walk on a beach 20 miles north.

Charming cottage for a special stay

  • 5 of 5

I travel a lot for business and try to avoid hotels whenever possible. I stayed in this cottage for nearly a week while on business on The Big Island and I couldn't be happier. It is a charming cottage that is comfortable and well-appointed. Sitting on the front porch looking out over the ocean at sunset was very special and relaxing. It was conveniently located to where I was working. Sidney and Wayne are very pleasant and unobtrusive. Their black lab, Sam, is a one-dog welcoming committee.
