Our cabin is newly remodeled 2/2 with plenty of room and offers a beautiful stream running behind it. There is a hot tub on the upper deck with the stream down below and a lower deck for listening to the stream or picnics. The cabin is very secluded in the Nanatahala Forest with the Bartram Trail for hiking within 5 minutes walking distance. The Trail will take you to a breathtaking gorge and the Nanatahala Dam. Nanatahala Lake is 5 minutes by car from our cabin where you can rent rafts or there is a boat ramp available not far to put your own boat in. This is the Cabin for you, I promise that you won't want to leave!
Fishing is very good for trout, sun fish and bass on the lake or in the nearby rivers which run in the surrounding area.
The Nanatahala River is great for white water rafting which is available down the mountain about twenty minutes east.
Cherokee which is 45 minutes away has a Casino and Museums and an outdoor theater.
Great cabin, the feel of being in the middle of no where but your only 20min from the grocery store. All the modern necessities with the wilderness your looking for. Debbie&Dave have done a great job setting up this vacation home, I'll be back !
This is by far the best cabin we have ever stayed in western nc. It's obvious that Debbie & Dave care very deeply for their guests. There is so much to do in the area and coming home after all the journeys was so peaceful and relaxing in this beautiful cabin.our search for the best cabin is officially over thanks to you guys!!!
This cabin has everything you can imagine. Anything that we may have forgotten was there and available for us to use. We loves the stream behind the house and walking to the small dam and trail head was amazing. Our dogs loved the creek and playing in the water! We rented a boat from the marina 2 miles away and had an awesome time on the lake. The hot tub is clean, hot, and amazing. Take the walking trail to the waterfall, its gorgeous!
Dave and Debbie are super nice and answer and questions you may have.
The walk around porches are awesome!
The cabin was very clean, well stocked, nicely decorated. Loved all the Halloween decorations! The owners were super nice and helpful when I had a bit of trouble keeping the fireplace running. They called to check if everything was OK after we got there, a very nice touch. The cabin was our home base for meals, evenings in, and tv/ games. We went from there for a day in Cherokee (less than an hour) -- what a beautiful drive, and hikes in the Nantahala Gorge area. The Bartram Trail has an entrance point 0.3 miles form the house, so we hiked that to Lake Nantahala on our last morning there. We did not use the hot tub but it was available if we wanted it. The two level deck and fire ring were also nice touches. Recommended!
Regarding restaurants, we cooked all our food, so we did not try any local restaurants during the stay. There were a few local ones, not a large selection by any means. On the way out, Murphy was cute but almost closed up on Sundays - but Murphy's pub and a pizza joint were open so we had a small choice. Would have loved to lunched at the cool bistro in town - sorry forgot the name.
We are 12 miles up the mountain from Andrews, NC. 5 minutes from Lake Nantahala, Nantahala National Forest surrounds the area.
