COZY YEAR ROUND CAMP ON QUIET MAINE LAKE.

Portland Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Our cottage is located on Highland Lake near Portland Maine. It is a short drive to the beautiful Maine Beaches and our local ski resort. We are an hour to the White Moutains and fifteen minutes to the local stores. In the winter the lake is perfect for ice fishing and x country skiing. In the summer our camp has kayaks, a paddle boat and a small volleyball/badminton court in the back yard. There is a trampoline raft in the water for the children to play on. The owners live next door so if you forgot anything,or need help finding your way around, just ask and they will help you out. In the winter there is snowmobile trails that leave the lake for endless riding (providing the lake is frozen and there is snow). We have room for one trailer and one car in the winter.

Have fun sitting around the fire pit, but please remember that our camp is surrounded by year round residents and work during the week, so we ask that you honor a 11:00p.m. quiet hour.

Milfoil Protection: We ask that you check any fishing gear and your boat for milfoil. Our lake is one of a few left in Maine that is free of milfoil.

Nothing could have made my vacation better than staying at this cottage. The view of the lake in the backyard was breathtaking. The house was so spacious, numerous bedrooms, comfy beds, gas fireplace & the outdoor fire pit made the trip!

You couldn't ask for a better place to stay. It was only minutes from the city of Portland!

Donna was an amazing host; she was there to answer any questions/concerns we had staying at the cottage.

I can't wait to stay here again. It was definitely the best place to stay in that area of Maine!

Best engagement weekend ever!

I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a romantic lakefront proposal. Donna was extremely receptive when I told her my plan and I booked a 2 night stay with the play to travel up Friday afternoon to set up for the night's events.

When I arrived during the day, I was amazed at how nice the property and view were considering how affordable it was. The property is very large and the house is much larger than it appears in the photos. The basement even has foosball and air hockey, and is a great space for any kids (or myself) to hang out. The house is literally right on the lake with a fire pit, a large patio table, and chairs. The house has pretty much any lake house toy (including kayaks and canoes). The kitchen was also stocked with amenities and we did not need anything but our food and drinks.

As for the owners, they truly went above and beyond. Without my knowledge, they decorated the entire yard for my proposal with candles, tiki torches, and even lit the fire pit! It looked like a scene from a bad romantic comedy (but in a great way). Donna and I communicated regularly leading up to the day and she was amazingly thorough and accommodating.

I cannot recommend this place enough, whether it is for a family vacation or a romantic getaway. I can't imagine a better experience for even double the price! I look forward to coming back, hopefully for more than two nights next time!

Amazing - We never want to leave!

My family and I have stayed here for the past 2 summers and again this past October - clearly we love it here! And we can't wait until we get to come back in a couple of weeks. The house is great and the lake is even better - crystal clear and refreshing. There is plenty of room to enjoy yourself in the house; whether you want to curl up and read a good book or have a good old fashioned game night with the family. You never have to leave the cottage, but if you want to Portland is only 20 minutes away. If you venture into Portland make sure you catch a Portland Seadogs game, breakfast at Becky's and some great shopping in the Old Port.
Our hosts, John and Donna, are second to none and are EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. If you happen to need anything, which you won't, they are right there to provide it to you. The house is very clean and the pictures don't do it justice - nothing is better than sitting outside in the early morning hours drinking your coffee or having some steamed lobster for dinner. And don't forget to buy the makings for smores because the fire pit is there for the using.
I can go on and on, but clearly we love coming here because this is going to be our 3rd summer up in Maine and we have only ever stayed at one place and it has been this amazing cottage where you can truly get away from it all.
See you soon John and Donna!
