PEACEFUL MAKAWAO

  • 5 of 5
Very nice, affordable, clean and peaceful place to stay. We had a relaxing stay. We REALLY enjoy the fresh fruit and avocados that Tammy provided for us. Central located it was easy to go to Makena Beach, Haleakala, Paia, Hanna and the Winery. The listing photos accurate reflect the rental and the Hot tub/Jacuzzi as well (we enjoyed after a long day of adventures). Tammy also has a good stash of Umbrelas, boogie boarding, beach chairs to use. Also, there are different options for your stay: for Family reunion, Honeymooners. Call her, and she will guide you to accomodate your needs. I highly recommend Peace of Maui to my family and friends.

GREAT PLACE TO MEET TRAVELLERS

  • 4 of 5
Tammi the owner is as charming as ever....it is a pleasure to return to Peace of Maui just to see and chat with her.She and her assistant, Sarah, were helpful from the time I booked with info on car rental etc.I always meet lovely people at her place which is one of the big plusses as well as the gorgeous location in the midst of all the sugar fields.Close to Paia and Makawao town and Baldwin beach makes it so well positioned....love it!

LOW COST CLEAN AND CONVENIENT PLACE TO STAY.

  • 5 of 5
Gods piece of Maui was a wonderful part of our stay. My wife and I drove up the beautiful small road surrounded by sugar cane and sweet smelling air. We were greeted by a cute dog name Pealee, the laziest dog in the world. We met Ken and Kamala who are helping the innkeeper Tammy run the place. They were a really nice couple that made us feel immediately welcome. The grounds had open blue skies and a nice breeze. Our room and shared bathrooms were really clean. The other guests were really nice and generally from cold places like Canada, Alaska and Finland but it made for some interesting conversations. Overall I had a great experience and would come back. It wasn't the most posh place to stay but for the price the beds were comfortable, clean and surrounded by farms for great cheap organic fruits and vegetables. I suggest this place because it is inexpensive homey and central to everything. I bought a shirt as a souvenir that says "live aloha" on it and Gods Piece of Maui and staff are living aloha for real.

CAREFREE SPIRIT

  • 5 of 5
My boyfriend and I wanted to experience local Maui without any of the tourist fluff. We initially booked a week, but loved this property so much that we ended up returning multiple times throughout our month-long island stay. The owner offers various options and will work with you to determine what will suite you best. Initially, we were interested in communal living, where we could connect with travelers from all over the world and get recommendations for must-see places. Once we got our bearings (and after we became engaged!), we wanted greater privacy and were provided with a more secluded spot. My recommendation is that visitors truly understand their travel preferences – do you always stay at hotels or are you open to the laid-back environment and shared amenities that a hostel would provide. Either way, let the owner know so she can make appropriate recommendations.

Bonuses of the property: The owner has a GREAT stash of communal beach equipment such as body-boards and bamboo beach mats; the hot tub is very well maintained – great after a long day of walking or surfing; barbeque grill is nice for searing up fresh fish and provides an opportunity to invite other guests to join you; communal internet/computer (although we hardly used it with all there was to do); the location feels remote in that it’s near Haleakela mountain but is only a short drive (maybe 10-15min) to the beach. If you want to wake up and see the mountain from your bed, ask the owner about this special room!

We found the owner to be extremely gracious and genuinely interested in ensuring her guests enjoyed their stay.

ENDLESS OPTIONS WITH A CAREFREE SPIRIT

My boyfriend and I wanted to experience local Maui without any of the tourist fluff. We initially booked a week, but loved this property so much that we ended up returning multiple times throughout our month-long island stay. The owner, Tammi, offers various options and will work with you to determine what will suite you best. Initially, we were interested in communal living, where we could connect with travelers from all over the world and get recommendations for must-see places. Once we got our bearings (and after we became engaged!), we preferred greater privacy and were provided a more secluded spot. My recommendation is that visitors decide what they wish to get out of their stay – do you always stay at hotels or are you open to a laid-back environment and shared amenities that a hostel would provide. Either way, let Tammi know so she can make appropriate recommendations.

Bonuses of the property: Tammi has a GREAT stash of communal beach equipment such as body-boards and bamboo beach mats (saved us a bundle); the hot tub is very well maintained – great after a long day of walking or surfing; barbeque grill is nice for searing up fresh fish and provides an opportunity to invite other guests to join you; communal internet/computer (although we hardly used it with all there was to do); the location feels remote in that it’s so near the Haleakala mountain but is only a short drive (maybe 15min) to the beach. If you want to wake up and see the mountain from your bed, ask the Tammi about the mountain-view room!

As a side note, I appreciated that the owner is energy conscience and line-dries her towels and sheets, giving them a fresh island scent.
