Perfect experience....

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house for a little over a week and wish it had been longer. Alan was terrific to work with; always responsive to questions and accomodating. The house was very clean and the floorplan is very efficient. The undeveloped desert immediately north of the house made waking up each morning a joy, with the orange sunshine glistening on the nearby mountains. The photos do not do the place justice. The bedrooms are great and the common kitchen/living room space is a perfect place to congregate, and it opens onto the patio and pool. A very important additional benefit is the access to the community fitness center and pool - a beautiful facilty with two pools and great exercise equipment. Tons of nearby golf courses (including Legend Trails, in the community), as well as countless public parks with trails galore. I look forward to returning in the future.

Owner's Response: I couldn't have said it better myself. The view of the desert and the mountains never gets old. The community center is great for getting a workout, playing tennis or swimming laps in one of the pools or relaxing with a yoga class. I look forward to hosting you again soon. Alan

An outstanding experience

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this home for the month of January 2015. Our overall experience was excellent. The home was nicer than the pics suggested: the high ceilings and windows gave the home a very spacious feel and yet cozy feel. Highlights of the home include: a cozy living/dining/kitchen area where folks loved to hang out; a quiet and pastoral location on the edge of the desert; a wonderful patio and pool area to sit and relax or enjoy a meal outside; exposure to the sun for most of the day in the patio area; a heated "spool" (new word for us mid-westerners) which was a big hit with not just the grandkids but the moms and grandparents too; a well-equipped kitchen where my wife was able to cook virtually whatever she could normally cook at home; a quiet neighborhood in which to walk; not only two bikes in fine condition but a mountain biking trail from the neighborhood which takes you to official biking trails (thereby not requiring the transportation of the bikes by car); an excellent exercise and pool facility at the neighborhood clubhouse. For the few small issues that emerged from staying in a home that is not your own, Alan, the owner was prompt in responding to our inquiries but not intrusive on our stay. There are several excellent hiking trails located close by: Pinnacle Peak, Black Mountain, Tom's Thumb. Also located about 30 minutes away was Lake Bartlett which is great for a picnic or hike along the shoreline. We also saw from our living/dining room window lots of wildlife: a bobcat, coyote, hawks, birds, etc. The home is admittedly a good distance from downtown Phoenix or Scottsdale, but we were glad to stay in the quieter and desert-scape community of north Scottsdale. There are plenty of restaurants and groceries stores and the like located nearby--no need to fight the heavy traffic of morning or evening rush-hour in Phoenix. All in all, it was a wonderful stay. So much so, in fact, that my wife, whom I drag all over the world and who, despite the amazing places we go, is always happy to go home again, actually was a bit sad to leave and wanted to stay a bit longer.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the wonderful review of my vacation home and the area. One of the great things about having adventurous families such as yours stay at our home is learning about more the activities this area has to offer. Although I have been visiting the here for over five years, I am always amazed by this wonderful part of the world and all it has to offer. Your comment about it being away from the busy streets of Phoenix is one of the reasons I chose Legend Trail (plus all the great golf near by). There are lots of wonderful restaurants, shopping and outdoor activities nearby or a short drive away, alternatively you can just lounge in the backyard and enjoy the quite desert scenery. The wild life passing by is an added bonus. I look forward to hosting you and your family again. Alan

Great desert experience!

Wonderful location to explore Scottsdale area hikes, site see and relax. The spool was the real win for our kids and kept them happy for hours! The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for kids, parents and grandparents. I had a question for Alan and he responded immediately. I would recommend this house to my friends and we all felt that we got a much better desert experience here than we would have gotten staying at one of the hotels. The owls living in the cactus near the community center were amazing too!

Owner's Response: The house is a wonderful place to explore the area. Downtown Scottsdale, the desert, Sedona and all the way to the Grand Canyon. The spool has proven to be a great feature too. With the backyard being so private it's easy to relax. Glad you saw the owls, there is a fair bit of wildlife to see in the area. I hope to host you again at our home. Alan

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our 88 year old mother stayed at this home for 12 days in January 2014. It was a wonderful experience for us and we give our strongest recommendation. The home is spacious with a great desert view as advertised and is in the beautiful community of Legend Trail. No need to go to the Phoenix botanical gardens - the whole community is a big display of desert flora. The location and community is quiet and safe, and our mother was able to go for walks with her walker along the wide streets even by herself. There is a Safeway nearby and we did most of our meals at the home. The home owner was most helpful and always available by phone or email with prompt answers to any queries. There is wifi at the home as well. For hiking, there is a really fine desert mountain walking trail called Pinnacle Peak only 10 min away with lots of parking. It is not that hard and family friendly with fine views and terrain, and we went there a number of times. Legend Trail is in the far north of Scottsdale near Carefree and it takes about 20 min to get into the city proper where there are many restaurants and good shopping (such as Kierland Commons). We didn't mind the drive, it was well worth it for the more remote and upscale location of the home. A great base for stay in the Phoenix area!

Desert retreat

  • 5 of 5

Great house with amazing views over the desert. Exceptionally well furnished and stocked. The beds were so comfortable. We had a fabulous 2 weeks and the couple of issues that we had were very quickly dealt with to everyone's satisfaction. Because the facilities were so good we tended to eat in most evenings and just enjoy being there. We had driven over 1000 miles before we arrived so it was so good to find a letting that was furnished very much to our taste where we could totally relax and just enjoy the desert environment.

During the day we played golf at some superb courses, hiked, people watched at the great bars/restaurants in Cave Creek, and relaxed in the garden. Great holiday, fab house. Next year we think four weeks would be better!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation and you're considering a month next time. There a number of repeat renters at my home all for the same reasons. Plus there is so much to do in the area. Hiking, golfing shopping, hot air balloons, horseback riding, museums, and Wild West is just a quick drive to Tombstone or even around the corner at Cave Creek. I look forward to having you back. We love this area

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at this property was great. We really enjoyed the patio and the stars at night. Looking out the kitchen window was so beautiful, all you can see is desert. The master bedroom bed was luxurious. This home is exactly like the pictures so no disappointments. Alan was very prompt on any questions that came up, but there wasn't many. It was very close to Cave creek which was great for us as we met friends down at the Grotto for breakfast and coffee's. Maestros for steak dinner and Aj's supermarket are very close as well. We drove into town and visited the Butterfly world as well as old Scottsdale and had lunch at the Rusty Saloon.
