We've completed a full remodel of #707. The work was done by Scott Williamson, known as the #1 remodel contractor on Ka'anapali Beach. Check out the photos below. The new kitchen features Sub-Zero and Bosch appliances, gorgeous granite counters, high-end cabinets and tile floors. Both bathrooms have new tiled step-in showers and granite-topped vanities. Even the main room has been redone with all new recessed lighting and a tropical ceiling fan.

If you know the Whaler, then you know that 707 is in a great location. It's on the south side of the north tower, so you're facing the courtyard with a terrific view of the ocean and beach. This is our home away from home, and we stay here ourselves as often as we can.

From our private lanai you've got terrific views of the ocean - there's only one apartment closer to the beach - including all of the island of Lanai. Look in the other direction and you've got a great view of the mountains.

If you don't know the Whaler, you're in for a treat. The Whaler is in the best location on Ka'anapali Beach. Walk out of the building and you're just a few steps away from the beach. (Closer than any other property on Ka'anapali Beach.) Directly next to the property is Whaler's Village with dozens of shops and three excellent beachside restaurants. And because you're staying at the Whaler, you don't have to drive home after dinner.

All linens are provided. Check-out cleaning is included free of charge. Additional cleaning during your stay can be arranged for a nominal fee.

A deposit of two nights’ rental is required with your reservation. The balance plus a $450 cleaning/damage deposit, is due 60 days prior to arrival. The damage deposit is fully refundable upon satisfactory inspection of the unit's condition following your stay. A 60-day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations more than 60 days prior to the arrival date will be refunded less a $50 cancellation charge plus any credit-card processing fees. Cancellations within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit the full rent.

About Doug Kaye

Our mainland home is in beautiful Marin County, just north of San Francisco, but we try to spend as much time on Maui as we can. Apartment 707 is our home-away-from-home. We visit 3-4 times every year and we spend most of our time making sure everything in our condo is just right for our guests.

Why Doug Kaye chose Lahaina

We first stayed at the Whaler on our 15th wedding anniversary. That was 27 years ago in 1986. To us, the Whaler is all about the location. We love that we can walk out of the building and immediately be on the beach. We love that we can sit on the lanai any time between January and April and watch whales. And we love that we can walk home from half a dozen great informal restaurants.

What makes this condo unique

The beach is literally 30 paces from the building. Unless there's a tsunami -- yes, we were here for the one February 27, 2010 -- we walk on the beach and swim in the ocean every morning. We love walking down to Black Rock, coming back to the middle of the beach, getting free fresh towels, taking a swim, drying off lying on the sand, then heading back to the condo. Every day should begin this way! And every evening should include a Mai Tai made by Johnny at Leilani's, just down the path at Whalers Village.

Nice retreat

Accommodations in West Maui vary greatly in their ambience and what they offer. We were looking for a serene, clean, well appointed, close to dining and the beach place to stay. This condo fit our needs perfect and thensome. The photos of the condo and view leave out the soft sound of the waves and everchanging skyline. You can see both the oceanshore and the hillside on the quiet balcony. The owners thought of everything inside and the remodel made the interior very lovely. It felt like home! The grounds and pool area of the Whaler are very classy and more intimate than the larger condo units or hotels. Also, Doug promptly responded to my emails and he had a thoughtful list of information prior to our arrival. We could walk either direction on the beach and except for the need to explore Maui, didn't need a car. We would come back and stay here, in this unit on another trip to Maui.

Perfection

My wife and I just returned from Maui and our stay at the Whaler. Doug and Cessna have the perfect spot at the Whaler. The views are spectacular and the location is convenient to everything. The condo is nicer than any hotel we've stayed in on various vacations. The upgrades are first class and the unit is so comfortable. It has all the amenities you need. The staff is very helpful from the moment you check in. Fred assisted in getting our luggage and groceries from car to unit. The concierge was most helpful recommending Luaus and other activities. Doug responds very promptly to any questions you may have from the first time we requested info until we were ready to come home. There is only one problem with staying there..............you have to eventually leave :)

Thank you Doug and Cessna for allowing us to use your beautiful home. It was more than we had hoped for and we will someday return.

Amezing!

Favorite Home Away From Home

We have stayed at the Ritz Carleton and Sheraton Black Rock on previous Maui trips. This condo far exceeded the accommodations at those properties. This unit is beautifully appointed and has amazing ocean views. It also looks exactly like it is pictured on the VRBO site...no misrepresentation with this one! The staff at The Whaler are friendly and Doug, the unit owner, is easy to work with. We highly recommend this unit for your vacation...and most certainly will use it again for ours!

Better than a 5 star resort!

After researching the Maui area extensively, I decided to choose this property for my vacation spot. When I saw it, I thought this looked too good to be true. Well, it was even better than I thought. First of all, Doug is an amazing owner who responds immediately to emails and phone calls and is a personal concierge as well. The condo is roomy, comfortable, quiet, and beautiful with every possible amenity imaginable. Sitting on the lanai morning, noon, and night we enjoyed panoramic views in every direction. The grounds are impeccable and the entire staff is wonderful, always willing to assist with a smile. The rental kiosk on the property makes it convenient to have umbrellas, chairs, and other equipment ready and set up for use. Having restaurants and shoping a few steps away makes eating out a pleasure without even cranking a car. The shopping covers any taste or price range. The only problem with our trip was we didn't want to leave the wonderful surroundings to experience the rest of the island! Our stay in this condo was the best we have ever experienced and it was worth every penny spent. We left with the the feeling that we had been valued guests in Doug and Cessna's home.

Quiet setting, fabulous views - Perfect getaway!

Spent a week late March here and absolutely loved it. Spacious condo with all the features, modernized and very contemporary. Photos online a great reflection of this beautiful condo.
