We've completed a full remodel of #707. The work was done by Scott Williamson, known as the #1 remodel contractor on Ka'anapali Beach. Check out the photos below. The new kitchen features Sub-Zero and Bosch appliances, gorgeous granite counters, high-end cabinets and tile floors. Both bathrooms have new tiled step-in showers and granite-topped vanities. Even the main room has been redone with all new recessed lighting and a tropical ceiling fan.

If you know the Whaler, then you know that 707 is in a great location. It's on the south side of the north tower, so you're facing the courtyard with a terrific view of the ocean and beach. This is our home away from home, and we stay here ourselves as often as we can.

From our private lanai you've got terrific views of the ocean - there's only one apartment closer to the beach - including all of the island of Lanai. Look in the other direction and you've got a great view of the mountains.

If you don't know the Whaler, you're in for a treat. The Whaler is in the best location on Ka'anapali Beach. Walk out of the building and you're just a few steps away from the beach. (Closer than any other property on Ka'anapali Beach.) Directly next to the property is Whaler's Village with dozens of shops and three excellent beachside restaurants. And because you're staying at the Whaler, you don't have to drive home after dinner.

All linens are provided. Check-out cleaning is included free of charge. Additional cleaning during your stay can be arranged for a nominal fee.

A deposit of two nights’ rental is required with your reservation. The balance plus a $450 cleaning/damage deposit, is due 60 days prior to arrival. The damage deposit is fully refundable upon satisfactory inspection of the unit's condition following your stay. A 60-day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations more than 60 days prior to the arrival date will be refunded less a $50 cancellation charge plus any credit-card processing fees. Cancellations within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit the full rent.

About Doug Kaye

Our mainland home is in beautiful Marin County, just north of San Francisco, but we try to spend as much time on Maui as we can. Apartment 707 is our home-away-from-home. We visit 3-4 times every year and we spend most of our time making sure everything in our condo is just right for our guests.

Why Doug Kaye chose Lahaina

We first stayed at the Whaler on our 15th wedding anniversary. That was 27 years ago in 1986. To us, the Whaler is all about the location. We love that we can walk out of the building and immediately be on the beach. We love that we can sit on the lanai any time between January and April and watch whales. And we love that we can walk home from half a dozen great informal restaurants.

What makes this condo unique

The beach is literally 30 paces from the building. We walk on the beach and swim in the ocean every morning. We love walking down to Black Rock, coming back to the middle of the beach, getting free fresh towels, taking a swim, drying off lying on the sand, then heading back to the condo. Every day should begin this way! And every evening should include a Mai Tai made by Johnny at Leilani's, just down the path at Whalers Village.

Outstanding Accommodations

This was our second stay at the Whaler and with Doug. We had stayed in Doug’s studio unit two years ago and in March 2015 we stayed in his one bedroom for 13 nights. Both places are fantastic and Doug has been great to deal with. The condos are completely updated, equipped and truly feel like home. The view from both units are amazing and never ending. We loved watching the whales from the lanai and the sunsets can only be described as spectacular. The list of all the great things is too long to mention, but we will say that the Whaler is a wonderful location and you will not be disappointed with this unit.

We will definitely return as we have been home for only a couple of weeks and miss the place like crazy!!

The Best

My wife and I spent 8 nights in this beautiful condo from 18 September.The condo has undergone an excellent renovation with high class finishes and top quality furnishings Televisions and electrical equipment.For those who wish to cook the kitchen is a delight with plenty of space and every possible utensil and functional crockery and glassware for a beachside condominium.

We have holidayed at the Whaler on at least 8 occasions since around 2006.This is without a doubt a very comfortable,functional condominium the best in which we have holidayed in our increasingly frequent trips to Maui.

We are from Sydney ,Australia so we are talking 10 hours to Oahu ,2 hours clearing immigration and transfer to the domestic terminal and the short flight to Maui followed by around 45 minutes to Kaananpali. Time elapsed since check in and departure from Sydney around 15 hours.To arrive in such a clean functional well furnished apartment is a delight.

Nice retreat

Accommodations in West Maui vary greatly in their ambience and what they offer. We were looking for a serene, clean, well appointed, close to dining and the beach place to stay. This condo fit our needs perfect and thensome. The photos of the condo and view leave out the soft sound of the waves and everchanging skyline. You can see both the oceanshore and the hillside on the quiet balcony. The owners thought of everything inside and the remodel made the interior very lovely. It felt like home! The grounds and pool area of the Whaler are very classy and more intimate than the larger condo units or hotels. Also, Doug promptly responded to my emails and he had a thoughtful list of information prior to our arrival. We could walk either direction on the beach and except for the need to explore Maui, didn't need a car. We would come back and stay here, in this unit on another trip to Maui.

Perfection

My wife and I just returned from Maui and our stay at the Whaler. Doug and Cessna have the perfect spot at the Whaler. The views are spectacular and the location is convenient to everything. The condo is nicer than any hotel we've stayed in on various vacations. The upgrades are first class and the unit is so comfortable. It has all the amenities you need. The staff is very helpful from the moment you check in. Fred assisted in getting our luggage and groceries from car to unit. The concierge was most helpful recommending Luaus and other activities. Doug responds very promptly to any questions you may have from the first time we requested info until we were ready to come home. There is only one problem with staying there..............you have to eventually leave :)

Thank you Doug and Cessna for allowing us to use your beautiful home. It was more than we had hoped for and we will someday return.

Favorite Home Away From Home

We have stayed at the Ritz Carleton and Sheraton Black Rock on previous Maui trips. This condo far exceeded the accommodations at those properties. This unit is beautifully appointed and has amazing ocean views. It also looks exactly like it is pictured on the VRBO site...no misrepresentation with this one! The staff at The Whaler are friendly and Doug, the unit owner, is easy to work with. We highly recommend this unit for your vacation...and most certainly will use it again for ours!
