Received e-mail quote of one price. When we went to confirm, owner would not honor it saying the e-mail was sent by a "teenager," and offered a price $21 per night higher. We reluctantly agreed.
It took 3 phone calls on the day of arrival to establish time to pick up keys, and 3 more once we were in to get internet password. Not very responsive.
There are no blackout shades or blinds on windows, so on long summer days bedrooms are very bright and sleep might be a problem.
Building dates to 1965 and has some nice updates, but at shows its age with squeaky and uneven floors, and very old bathroom fixtures.
No air conditioning or fans -- Anchorage can get quite warm at times.
We had a late flight on our checkout day, and though the contract actually said our checkout day was the following day, we were asked to leave or pay extra although one of the owners had said we could stay late. The excuse: the contract date was wrong due to "human error." Especially after the rate quote problem, this was the last straw. Business owners need to take responsibility for their communications and put the customer first.
Prospective renters should obtain a copy of the contract in advance, and study it. If possible, visit the property before committing. Though it is on an attractive lot, it is surrounded by an area you may not feel comfortable walking in. Get all details agreed to in writing in advance. If you don't like the place once you're in it, the contract requires you to pay anyway.
Owner's Response: When we provide a quote to our customers at our lowest rate, confirmation is expected within 48 hours or less. A no response after 48 hours means you are not do not accept the offer. Our second offer is normally our standard summer rates. If access is needed you are welcomed to let us know prior to arrival or you can request by telephone on arrival. As far as keys, we do not hand issue keys. Keys are provided via an access code. The code is provided to our customers prior to arrival via email or phone. Our policy is to provide our customer’s convenience and assurance from check in delays, and it also curtails early check in without prior arrangements. Check in is 3:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m., and any extensions must be approved. We have light diminishing blind at all windows in every apartment. We do not want to offend the 90% of our customers that want the Alaska Experience and relish the light. If you are sensitive to light for sleep reasons please let us know in advance during your inquiry. Air conditioning in Anchorage is a not a requirement. A fan is in a closet in each apartment. If more than one fan is required, please let us know. The facility was Remodeled and Upgraded in 2007 to provide our customer with over 1100 square feet of living space in each apartment with all the nice amenities of home. See our web page on www.vrbo.com/289865. We have posted photos of the type of space we offer. These are apartments and we make every effort to include the standard items of home. Special or unique items might not be available and we might not provide them. Some of the comforts are large flat screen TV’s, queen and or king size beds in masters, and twins and or full size bed in spare rooms. All of our apartments are the same size but different configuration. Let us know if we can make your stay a more comfortable one as you settle in to the facility. We offer our customers a safe environment in a safe neighborhood, and a superior setting.
