Our family is pleased to offer a lovely antique flat fully renovate in St. Jean de Luz, France named Iduski Mendi, Basque for Sun Mountain. We have a great view over the Pyrenees Mountains and with a south exposure we enjoy the sun all day. Our flat is on the top floor of the building up 2 flights of stairs. There is no elevator.

Iduski Mendi is at 17 Boulevard Commandant Passicot, St. Jean de Luz, France. There is plenty of public parking in front. You can walk to the beach approx. 300 meters where there is a wonderful board walk and large white sandy beach. You can walk to all shops and caf's in the village of St. Jean de Luz. Fantastic dining. There is a Market two times a week on Tuesday and Friday 1 block behind Iduski Mendi.

Transportation: The Biarritz Airport is 20 minutes drive or the TVG Haull is 50 meters walk. Great location to visit the Pyrenees Mountains, San Sebastian Spain and all of the Pays Basque country.

Size and accommodations: Our flat has Three Rooms, T3, one lovely master bedroom, a media room with day bed and open salon dining room kitchen. The shower room and WC are separate.

About Vanette McGlawn

We purchased the Iduski Mendi apartment in 2003, completely renovated it lived in St Jean de Luz from 2003 to 2010 when our son graduated from St. Thomas d Aquin. We made a family decision to keep the flat as we love St. Jean de Luz and enjoy visiting for 3-4 months per year. We are renting the apartment the time we are unable to be there.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed living at Iduski Mendi. The apartment was imbued with Basque/Aquitaine charm and we felt very fortunate to have located such a property for our stay in Saint Jean de Luz. The well-equipped kitchen and the spacious modern shower room etc were a delight. The building was quiet and peaceful, and such neighbours as we met appeared very helpful. The location was ideal for our purposes, with easy access to a great range of shops, and we had the sense that we were living as locals; we did not feel as mere tourists on holiday. We settled in to the area very quickly and the apartment became like a real home from home. Any difficulties arising during our stay were dealt with satisfactorily

Great apartment in a great town

The apartment worked absolutely wonderfully for us. The location was perfect, close walking distance to everything. San Jean de Luz is a great pedestrian town. I was worried about the proximity to the train station and if noise would be a problem. It was not a problem at all. The windows seemed to do a great job blocking out the noise, and it was never so hot that we had to have them open at night. The kitchen was great, perfect for having a family. I loved being that closed to the market hall. The apartment is also very close to the tourist office, and the buses to explore the entire Cote Basque are right across the street. We went to Biarritz for a day and to Bilbao as well. It is a good size apartment, plenty of room for a family. It was a great experience for us. For people who have children who speak French or are learning, there are a number of kid's beach clubs. My kids went every morning while we were there. It was very reasonably priced and everyone's French greatly improved.
